WTF just came out of my arse??!!

NOT A POO TROLL!!

Been for a poo, and basically a bit of poo was hanging on something that looked like dental floss. I pulled the rest out and it was about 25-30cm in length! The consistency of stretchy, stringy dental floss.

Any suggestions? It didn't look segmented so I'm hoping it's not a tapeworm!

Yeah threadworms aren't that big! Neither are the wormy bits from a banana (and those are black).

You can have other kinds of parasitic worm. You'd need to see a GP to get dosage I think as you have to take ovex but in much larger quantities. When I've bought it abroad it has dosages for different kinds of worm but the UK leaflet doesn't from memory.

Is it possible you have swallowed some kind of dental floss, maybe string from a joint or something? You'd think you'd notice but it's a nicer thought than a worm.

Have you eaten a pepperami and not taken the condom thing off?

It's too long for most things to stay in one piece at that length. Food items would break. I imagine it was a worm.

I once passed something that looked like 6 inches of undigested fusilli. I bought some Ovex from the pharmacist and have been grand ever since.

They are! My son has them atm (well, he's been treated) and they are teeny.

Tapeworms aren't though.

Someone had a rubber band come out of their dogs bottom- turned out t be a roundworm.. they weren’t worming him.

Not hair, not bean sprouts ... not what I would expect mucus to be like but having never explored my intestines, who knows!

I did find a picture of a rope worm which was the closest to what it was, but very very thin - dental floss is the only description I keep coming back to

Yes, you need antiworm meds at correct dose- they are very effective. I had a dog from dogs home that had tapeworm, proglottids came dancing 💃 out of her anus! A shot from vets and it/ they were gone.

Tapeworms from raw fish have been known before.
Including a Russian emigre who had a Tapeworm from eating Sturgeon as a child- she had hactbe worm for over 70 years!

Round worms are extremely rare in the UK unless you've been abroad to someplace like Africa, China etc. Tape worms are flat and break up into segments.

Are you sure it came out your bum? I'm genuinely interested only because I work in microbiology and we get stuff like this sent to us fairly frequently.
We've never had it be a worm yet if the patient has no travel history.

My money is on a strip of gut lining or vegetable fibre, or actual dental floss!
