NOT A POO TROLL!!

Been for a poo, and basically a bit of poo was hanging on something that looked like dental floss. I pulled the rest out and it was about 25-30cm in length! The consistency of stretchy, stringy dental floss.

Any suggestions? It didn't look segmented so I'm hoping it's not a tapeworm!

Milo- compared to tapeworm; threadworms; haemorrhoids it’s actually more likely, from a medical perspective. Although all options are going to be quite strange here. It’s much likely to be a non-living thing.

Gosh, I have read many interesting threads since joining Mumsnet but this one definitely takes the crown Hope you're feeling ok otherwise OP, just take it to your GP as soon as you can and drink plenty of water to flush your system. I have to say, that definitely doesn't look like a worm to me. Good luck!

Hi did you find out what it was? I just found same thing I believe and so grossed out, not sure what to do about it

I’ve had something similar before - it felt like pooping string! I never figured out what it was but I ate a lot of fibre (pre IBS days!) and assumed that was the cause. It’s never happened again.

I am reviving the thread as I have pulled identical thin white threads out of my bum (each about 10 cm. long) 2 days ago and again last night (1 each time).

I am paranoid as I had recurrent pinworms (I saw a live one on my poo, had the itching at night, and had dead ones in poo) since 10 weeks ago and have had 4 rounds of medication at 2 week intervals and lots of cleaning...I thought they were finally gone as none in poo for a while although I still felt itchy but the itch was on my buttock not near my anus and during the day so I put it down to a phantom itch as I had got so paranoid about the bloody things and no doubt dried out the skin a bit with all the washing.

It felt like pulling a straw out of a dog's arse. Texture of very thin (the breadth of a cotton thread) straw or linen, like a bit rough and dry. Looks exactly like the OP's own photo (not as long) and the Reddit one. First one pulled out in the shower.

Are they worms ???
