What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

GallopingHighRoad HS2 is right between me and Laiste. Hideous. Maybe it's disturbed the spirits so much the something weird has risen up?

This weather is making my imagination run a bit wild....

BeagleBeagled · 20/02/2022 18:11

Well it sounds more like a description of bigfoot than any of our native wildlife. So bigfoot gets my vote Grin

FruminariaBandersnatcheosum · 20/02/2022 18:11

Was it nakedish or did it have hair?

Draw it! Draw it! Draw it!

AngelinaFibres · 20/02/2022 18:12

@GallopingHighRoad

The gigantic hare is not far off...but not at 6ft though.

The closest we can describe is a large man-goat on hind legs, but really stocky ones. Obviously not that though. No animals in surrounding fields when we go there today.

@User76745333

If it was just outside Staverton I’m pretty sure it was my dad staggering back from the pub
🤣🤣🤣

How should anyone else who hasn’t seen it know, if you saw it and don’t. Pity you don’t have a pic from a dash cam.

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 18:13

I can't draw for toffee so if I posted what I saw it would create even more uncertainty and a wild goose chase. An amalgamation of goat, deer, poacher even - cannot rule that out. But it did not seem human, animal yes, but human no.

I may have to settle with a pp's answer of a startled, mangy deer and headlights playing a trick. But nothing so far really fits the bill.

I've got the old howling wind/branch hitting the window cliche going on right now and it's giving me the heebie jeebies! It's only quarter past 6!

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 18:15

I might attempt a drawing later. But I have to go out soon and will not be back until late.

Please buy a dash cam and go back every night until you see it again Grin

Mostlyjustrunning · 20/02/2022 18:27

Was going to say it was probably me out for a run as I do have stumpy little legs… is it possible you made a mistake with the height and it was more like 5’1 and a half? With a ponytail?

CovidCorvid · 20/02/2022 18:28

@nancy75

Are there a lot of kangaroos in the Midlands? Grin
There are wallabies in the Peak District. I saw them multiple times in the 80s and while the main herd has died out I saw one about 8 years ago. So possible one left over?
Mooserp · 20/02/2022 18:28

I used to drive that route often. There were deer in a park area off to the left.

It haunts the great Grippen mire...

Was it this kind of thing?

Changechangychange · 20/02/2022 18:34

Argh, this kind of thing

Thatsplentyjack · 20/02/2022 18:34

I think we need more of a description than 6 foot with short hind legs.
