What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

A llama or alpaca seen head on?

Shambleseya · 20/02/2022 19:21

I'm going with wallaby because the thought of anything else freaks me out Blush

Joking aside, I love this thread

I had no idea about the white wallaby.

My dad and can't touch it have done me for the night.

Especially after sexy Mr Bean.

Thewiseoneincognito · 20/02/2022 19:24

I know it’s not the same place but I’ve heard of several strange unexplainable sightings on the Shropshire roads particularly near Yorton/ Prees areas.

This has piqued my interest…off I go to search other creepy threads.

@GallopingHighRoad

We have muntjac in Northamptonshire, rare in other parts of the island.

Same here Grin

We are off out now for supper but when we get back I will post a picture. It will be badly drawn and I offer no apologies for that. Just to be clear again and again, it is definitely not a wallaby or a kangaroo. The thin bear / mangy deer fits best but at over 6ft it is going to be a big one and on hind legs. The impression that is strongest for me is the goat-head, but DP does not remember that.

@GallopingHighRoad

Not a kangaroo, goatman, slenderman, sasquatch. These things don't exist.

Colour - dark brown, but always hard to tell in full beam.

On A425 after Staverton travelling West. Road drops down a hill then rises back up again before the lay by spot.
Coincidentally @Wonnle the next village on the road is called Shuck-burgh.

Think the whole of Australia will be disappointed to discover that Grin
Peoniesandcream · 20/02/2022 19:36

Muntjac aren't very tall though 🤔. I wanna believe its q mythical creature but probably just a deer.

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 19:36

@Rivering Not a muntjac. they are everywhere including in our garden, but really are small.

@nancy75

Are there a lot of kangaroos in the Midlands? Grin
There used to be wallabies in Staffordshire, that's what I thought of when I read this!
mumwon · 20/02/2022 19:37

Large Kangaroos can appear to be 6 ft & they can jump over cars & turn at right angles
(says she remembering seeing this once in Australia)
They can grow blinking big- maybe something escaped from a zoo in the storms... checks newspapers .....

Unsure33 · 20/02/2022 19:37

Wallabies are not that big .

My daughter and I were travelling one day and this large black thing came across the road honestly it was about the size of a panther but was not of solid form and it kind of ran/ hovered across the front of the car as if it did not really touch the road . Like a black spirit. Still no idea what it was but we both saw the same thing .
It was like something out of fantastic beasts .

Oh i must google

Anyone got a talking mongoose? Grin

Unsure33 · 20/02/2022 19:39

In our area there have definitely been sightings of large cats , wallabies and emus .

Laiste · 20/02/2022 19:39

@MrsRhettButler

Oooh this is so interesting, Laiste what was it that you saw?
I saw a big cat. Broad daylight. Not scary (might have been if it was coming at me mind you!) jumping over the fence and running away. Sandy colour. Puma?

It was back when we'd had the outbreak of foot and mouth and there was no one walking in the countryside. I recon wildlife was a little bolder. A couple of ponies round here quite close to a village had their throats torn open :(

FlibbertyGibbitt · 20/02/2022 19:43

Werewolf ?

And that goatman thing!

CityCommuter · 20/02/2022 19:50

@GallopingHighRoad it was obviously some sort of large super furry animal that was running / standing on its hind legs... it could have been a very well fed wild boar...
