What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

Probably it was a standing up deer.

AhhWoof · 20/02/2022 17:53

Placemarking as I'm a local too! 5 miles from Priors H, drive that road regularly. Never seen anything peculiar though!

TheSpottedZebra · 20/02/2022 17:55

@TheSpottedZebra

Probably it was a standing up deer.
Oh, it WALKED on 2 legs? Huh.
Laiste · 20/02/2022 17:56

SwedishEdith · 20/02/2022 17:58

I was going to suggest poacher as well. Remember a similar thread. Was it definitely animal?

Pudmyboy · 20/02/2022 17:58

@WeAreTheHeroes

Actually re-reading you description, was it Roadrunner?
🤣🤣🤣
RagzRebooted · 20/02/2022 18:01

No, they're like drop bears. Australia made them up.

NetballHoop · 20/02/2022 18:02

Was it Jacob Reese Mogg running home before nanny told him off for being late?

RagzRebooted · 20/02/2022 18:02

Quote failed, that's was regarding kangaroos.

AhhWoof · 20/02/2022 18:02

Laiste - Wine! I'm already wondering if I know you!! Will keep my eyes peeled for weird and wonderful creatures... on a night as hideous as this anything feels possible!

Laiste · 20/02/2022 18:03

Well - we've found out it was up the road from me and AhhWoof, but that hasn't really helped has it!? Grin

I'm peering out into the dark and rain now ....

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 18:03

@AhhWoof
@Laiste

Hope HS2 is not hitting you too bad. It is terrible what it is doing in that part of the world. We are just out of sight and earshot of it all luckily.

BeagleBeagled · 20/02/2022 18:04

Well, I'm not sure it's possible to help without a picture.

cutebutscary · 20/02/2022 18:06

Can you draw it for us pleeeeaaase . Also live local so super interested. It sounds like pan , half goat half human .

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 20/02/2022 18:06

People shouldn't dismiss Bigfoot as a possibility imo.

Iluvfriends · 20/02/2022 18:06

Maybe a deer, reared up from fright and the headlights playing tricks on your eyes.

burnthur5t · 20/02/2022 18:07

Wendigo

EmmaH2022 · 20/02/2022 18:08

I'd be tempted to drive around tonight to see if you can spot it again.

But I'm a Londoner and I get very over excited about animal sightings!

Laiste · 20/02/2022 18:08

Oh bloody HS2 has RUINED 2 massive swathes of peaceful countryside up here and buggered up so many people's lives with what it's done to house prices ect.

Lovely old trees felled, lanes turned into big roads (for no reason) daft bypasses that lorries can't even navigate properly (Wardington?)....

don't start me!

WonderfulYou · 20/02/2022 18:08

Did you manage to see what it’s hands were like?
Were they obvious claws or something else?

What was the ears like?
On top of its head or on the side? Pointy or rounded.

Was it’s face flatter like a bear or longer like a deer?

I don’t know what it could be but just trying to think what it’s not.

User76745333 · 20/02/2022 18:09

If it was just outside Staverton I’m pretty sure it was my dad staggering back from the pub

Laiste · 20/02/2022 18:09

I would love a pic too OP :) :)

I don't want to believe there's anything weird running around out there mind you ...
