What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

@Laiste

Your last comment re people at sides of road, if this relates in any way to some of your indoor experiences, IE people shapes in peripheral vision, (flies too) are part of your indoor experiences, I'd suggest getting your vitamin B12 levels checked. I often had shadow people in my peripheral vision, along with seeing flies everywhere, turned out to be due to B12 deficiency. DD had the same thing pre treatment as did my cousin

Laiste · 27/02/2022 09:44

@RockinHorseShit That's really interesting! I've never seen flies, although of course everyone's visual disturbances will be different Gin

The people thing has been going on for nearly 40 years (gives away age) and until about 8 years ago i had 20/20 vision. Never seen the shadow people (love the name) indoors. The indoor experiences were not visual but physical. As in actual objects ... doing things ... and also audible experiences which were shared by others at the same time.

For years i've been taking very comprehensive vitamin/mineral supplements however i am not someone who would swear 100% on a supernatural explanation for anything. Not least because i don't fancy the idea of any of it being true! Over the years I've had lots of people tell me i'm 'woo' and i should cultivate it, but i do the opposite. Fingers in ears, la la la la la Grin I'm a coward Grin

@Laiste sometimes I see people standing by the roadside who 'aren't there' (according to everyone else) too. It only happens when I'm in a car and more at speed, never when stuck in a traffic jam. One of my teenagers does it too, it freaks him out. Sometimes we have to turn around and go back to look, to break it down and make sense of what he saw. I asked a psychiatrist relative about it, she said its just brains and wiring, to see patterns, faces/people and some people do it much faster than others. Or it can be to do with psychosis, ADHD, even some medication can ramp it up. I did it a lot more when I had PND, and again when I was taking tramadol for a spinal problem so she was right about that. And it can be really fucking scary. If you were tested for cognitive ability you'd probably score really high for pattern recognition or something. Don't think of yourself as being 'out there', your brain is just really good at something and is letting you know. Do you have synesthesia? DC and I do. Maybe connected, maybe not.

I wave or blow kisses at them now, the people who aren't there. If they're in my head no harm done, if they're other beings I've given them something to be happy about.

Cockwomblingfree · 27/02/2022 10:02

oh and auditory hallucinations. these things have all happened more after age 45 or so, vision and hearing going, brain compensating. I'm over 50 and going deaf but hear stuff as I'm going to sleep and it might be loud shouting, or music, or someone muttering, or paper shuffling, anything at all, but for about 2 seconds. Used to be utterly terrifying, now I know what it is its fine.

What I'm trying to say in a roundabout way is explore what's going on with you, whatever that is, but lean in and enjoy it, don't be afraid. If you're woo and its dead people they can't hurt you, be more afraid of the living not the dead.

You just described perfectly hypnogogic hallucinations. Nothing to do with mental illness or the paranormal!

Totally relate to that!
Definitely "woo" here too, but I'm a coward too, especially after one bad ongoing experience. There's a difference to this though that's hard to explain unless you've experienced both, but no electric goosebumps feeling with deficiency hallucinations

Got to admit the woo part of me has wondered if what I saw was caused by deficiencies, or whether deficiencies making me hypersensitive to everything, which it does, & means more sensitive spirit too

DD had much more flies than shadows, so it definitely can vary

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 11:44

I meant to add, B12 is a difficult vitamin for the body to process, some of us lack what it needs to bind to in order to do its job, this means deficiency is from childhood, but gets worse as you age. Only b12 injections, not pills will fix a deficiency if it's this version. It also affects night vision

Laiste · 27/02/2022 13:18

This is all so interesting!

The auditory thing happened when i was apx 20. I had 2 other people right next to me and they heard it too. Impossible not to. Heavy massive pounding bangs right across a ceiling with no one upstairs.

The physical objects moving - it was in my workplace, i was in my late 30s. I experienced 2 things while alone and told no one. Then someone experienced a similar thing to me and confidentially told me about it the next day. (but i still didn't fess up about my own experiences. It was in a very professional environment where you wouldn't want to be telling 'ghost' stories).

@RockinHorseShit can you talk about your ''one bad ongoing experience''? We all have 'fun' woo stories we can tell (like my Everdon Stubbs thing. It was scary at the time, but there are loads of rational explanations) but when something happens to you which is a bit past all the usual stuff it leaves you in a weird place. It's not fun to tell any more. It makes you feel a bit sick.

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 14:45

@Laiste

It's long & complicated as I lived with it for a few years, but a very active house in london, with something nasty attached to it that seemed to hate women in particular, it only showed itself to women.

I saw him a few times, other friends did too. There's even a photo that I can't even look at as he's there glaring back. We had everything from being grabbed & pushed downstairs, items stolen & turning up elsewhere, we had fire, flood & invasions of insects, murder neighbour & neighbours friends in a serious life changing accident & in in only a few years. It once used a friends parrot we were minding to torment me when home alone... parrot started doing evil cackling whenever I walked through the room it was in... parrot couldn't do that normally!!

Final straw came when I was home alone & a knife threw itself from the other side of the room & would have hit me had I not bent over at that point to pick something up... knife stuck 3 inches into a solid wall!! I left the next day

I'd sort of convinced myself it couldn't harm us, put things down to coincidence, bad luck, some was obviously a haunting as I saw him sat glaring & sneering in our bedroom chair a few times as did others, but I minimised & rationalised it in my head til that point as a way of coping I suppose. Once a way & looking back, it was like a bloody horror movie 🥴

Laiste · 27/02/2022 14:59

@RockinHorseShit I believe you.

I know you don't need me to and that isn't what you're here for - but i'm saying it anyway :)

Laiste · 27/02/2022 15:13

What i experienced with the physical stuff is a fraction of what you've been through. Have you 'escaped'?

I felt targeted - but strangely only in an attention seeking way. I had a tea cup thrown at me, but it didn't touch me. It smashed at my heels. It came from absolutely no where. Long empty corridor. Only a sense of mischief in the air. This was sunny broad daylight.

The second thing - same building - again day time - collection of things previously strewn on the floor became piled on top of one another balanced precariously in size order silently in a matter of seconds. Again no one around except me - and i felt strongly it had been done for me, but i felt no malice. Only a presence.

I have felt malice. The hatred of women that you mention - definitely very strong. That was the pounding on the ceiling stuff. That was something else! The general awfulness of that place was shared with other people though not just me. W London years before i moved up here.

Laiste · 27/02/2022 15:18

Can i just add - the tea cup - i put the bits in the bin. Other people saw the bits the next day. (Just in case anyone is wondering if i completely imagined the whole thing - the actual tea cup at least existed).

The incident which occurred in front of my colleague and not me happened in the same place the pile appeared to me.

Obvs we could all be completely mad ... but then ... good! Fine by me! The supernatural does not exist and we're just all occasionally bonkers! Grin

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 15:18

Thank you @Laiste ... appreciated

You obviously get it, people too often think we're nuts opening up about it, though enough friends & BF I lived with too experienced this one, even if he never saw him... it used to grab his arse in the shower from time to time🥴

I've experienced enough in my time to be sure it all exists though, so it doesn't bother me so much anymore & I get not believing if you've never experienced it. I'm a typically rational northern science nerd, so I totally get looking for rational explanations, but I know sometimes there are none

In my days of travelling I met a small boy in the West Indies who had lots of questions of things he'd heard of, but had never experienced. An electric kettle that boiled without fire as he put it, was one he just couldn't believe was real... I kind of equate the disbelievers to that. Nothing wrong in their stance of not believing when they've never experienced woo. The aggressive shit makes no sense to me though

Laiste · 27/02/2022 15:25

Just one more thing, while i'm hogging the thread, i know, just as @RockinHorseShit will do, that when you reveal details about some experiences you'll lose a good percentage of your audience. Lots of people will read this sort of account and mentally hold up their hands and say naaaah. not buying that. You're either mad or a liar. Don't want to have anything to do with either of those.

And that's completely understandable. It's ok. But that's where we are. When you know you're sane and not lying it's a v strange place to find yourself.

Laiste · 27/02/2022 15:27

x post, lol.

I wonder how many readers of this thread will wander off now? Grin

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 15:29

The supernatural does not exist and we're just all occasionally bonkers!

Oh I'd much prefer that too 😂

Catching up with your other post. The poltergeist type activity sounds childlike, so it probably was trying get your attention in a playful way. The other sounds scary & I've heard of similar & worse from a spiritualist who helped with cleansings I once knew. Boy did she have some stories, absolutely bonkers stuff to listen to, but she was a lovely level headed & very sweet elderly lady in every other way

This experience below of mine was SW london

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 15:30

Absolutely spot on.

If your interested in ghost stories & occasionally other phenomenon. "The Real Life Ghost Stories Plus More" group on Facebook is a good one for real peoples experiences. Lots of members post stories anonymously too & some are fascinating

RockinHorseShit · 27/02/2022 18:51

@Bytrgrewd

Careful they'll be using that photo in the next lazy assed news article 😂

Bytrgrewd · 27/02/2022 18:52

That would make for a great article 🤣
