What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

Legislation won't make a difference.

I am in London and there's people doing interesting things even in London. There was a hilarious thing on Twitter about snakes being in the loose nearish to me, but much as I thought it was funny, I also thought it was true. I didn't feel a fool when it turned out to be a joke because it's quite likely.

People get work feeding these pets in basements, just saying Wink

*on the loose

Fuzzy303 · 23/02/2022 11:11

OP you’ve made it into the newspapers I discovered whilst searching for sightings www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/late-night-sighting-6ft-tall-23189628.amp

Also this website is quite intriguing for strange things spotted - several sightings of upright creatures in the UK debhatswell.wordpress.com/2021/04/18/are-uk-bigfoot-reports-on-the-increase-due-to-covid-and-the-recent-storms-and-floods-2021/2/

6 feet tall badger?Hmm
EmmaH2022 · 23/02/2022 12:08

This has led me to the Dark Histories podcast. Tried to listen last night but that chap does not have a voice for podcasts. That's mean, sorry. But I was so disappointed to hear that droning when I found such an interesting podcast!

Badger, yes, that would match the hair effect. Maybe someone cross bred a deer and badger...creature now on the loose looking to kill the Dr Frankenstein who made him....

I see they edited you do you’re no longer claiming kangaroos don’t exist Grin

ImprobablePuffin · 23/02/2022 13:40

@CovidCorvid

Have to say this thread reminds me of the MN post years ago from the couple on a caravan site near Weymouth. They went to take their dog out for a wee late one night and had gone in the field next to the caravan site when they had a feeling of being watched and realised there was something in the shadows at the far edge of the field stalking them. They ran back to the caravan and the thing raised up on two legs as it chased them.
Didn't that one turn out to be entirely made up?
CovidCorvid · 23/02/2022 13:42

@ImprobablePuffin not that I’m aware of. The camping pods in the snow storm with Tristan was made up.

EmmaH2022 · 23/02/2022 13:50

I'm going to search for the Weymouth one!

So over invested.

JohnStonesMissus · 23/02/2022 14:09

I think the Weymouth one is on the above blog if you're interested..

No joy unless using other keywords Will look properly later!
Silversprinkles · 23/02/2022 14:47

@WonderfulYou

Thought I’d post this here. I can only see a dog.
First moment, I think "man" as I focus on the head, which is actually the dogs tail. Then realise what would be his back/backpack is dog's face. Then realise his leg that looks like he's running is bent the wrong way and the dog becomes clear.
JohnStonesMissus · 23/02/2022 14:49

I'll have a look for you too Emma and tell you what blog year it's posted in, I was only reading about it this morning.

CovidCorvid · 23/02/2022 14:58

Please tell me if you find it. I looked for it last year and couldn’t find it and loved it.
CovidCorvid · 23/02/2022 14:58

I’d say it was at least ten years ago though.

onitlikeacarbonnet · 23/02/2022 15:14

Not sure how ‘they’ know what I’ve been lurking on on MN but I had to share this after just seeing it on instagram.
Hope the link works

Tiredly · 23/02/2022 17:13

@RockinHorseShit there was a thread about big cats here last year but the majority of posters didn't behave it was possible and doubted they exist here in the UK
Haven't seen one myself but I have seen actual police reports of sightings all in the same 3 years in my home town which is a urban area in Lancashire not far from the peak district.

dipdye · 23/02/2022 17:44

Can't believe you've made the local rag, op! 🥂😁

Not the DM thank god

EmmaH2022 · 23/02/2022 17:47

This is a short thread but mentions the London thing

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4036307-Big-cats-in-the-wild-Uk

Mum hails from a country with big cats and also wonders why people think it's impossible. All kinds of everything gets smuggled in and out of everywhere.

It's not like claiming you've seen Nessie.

dipdye · 23/02/2022 17:55

The camping pods in the snow storm with Tristan was made up.

Oh god that was such a good thread

JohnStonesMissus · 23/02/2022 18:17

Yes I remember that one being made up..
