What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

It’s rather a good drawing if I say so myself….Grin BUT it’s not going to post, it seems you have to be a member for a while before it will let you and it’s no help I’ve been before.

Can you google around and find something similar on the internet and post the link?

AhhWoof · 21/02/2022 09:09

We must find a way of seeing this picture! Especially as I'm not going to venture out after dark until we've nailed this....

Do you have any chums on MN who could post for you? If you can DM I'll send you my email.

....heavily invested....

Bloody love this thread.

RedToothBrush · 21/02/2022 09:27

Have we established its not a hostile force deploying a weather weapon yet?

Im not going to be attacked in my bed tomorrow by alien gremlins that suddenly emerge from the water after incubation from the parent creature caught crossing the road?

greenlynx · 21/02/2022 10:16

Can you message it to someone to post?

SoonbeSpringtime · 21/02/2022 10:36

@GallopingHighRoad why don’t you upload your image to a free hosting site and post the outside link on here.

If you PM me OP i'll send you my email and you can send me the pic and i'll post it here?

The odd thing i saw the other night was quite a big a pale shape up ahead which i thought at first was a horse loose in the road (i remember i def. thought horse not large deer. You see both so often you get good at these things). Then i thought oh no it's a person just standing dead still - i touched my brakes as that's unusual but as my high beams lit the area up properly there wasn't anything there at all. I didn't see it go it just wasn't there any more. This is all in the time span of ... 7 or 8 seconds if you count them properly (one thousand two thousand ect)

I said to DH did you see that but he was looking at his phone Hmm I did slow down a bit and peered left and right but couldn't see it. I thought who the fuck would be standing in the road out here and then hide behind the hedge? People usually just stand to one side or keep walking in the grass.

If it wasn't blustery I would have said maybe fog column?

BouncyMonk · 21/02/2022 11:15

Was the NOT-KANGAROO very smartly dressed? My money is on Mr Horatio Knibbles.

BluTangClan · 21/02/2022 11:40

It was a Lubin.
Not as fierce and scary as a werewolf, but from the lycanthrope family.

What did we see last night..?

Not Mississippily? 😂

Ooh, I wonder that was.

Adding lubin to research list, this thread is brilliant.

WonderfulYou · 21/02/2022 12:01

It was a Lubin.

I have had a couple of family members swear they’ve seen a black dog like creature on 2 legs before.

I’ve never fully believed them as I know the darkness can play tricks on our eyes but it is strange that they’ve seen it on different occasions.
I’m in a different part of the country though.

Read here about the "Lubins/Lupins", Google doesn't seem to bring much up.
So far it's either a; Kangaroo/Ghost Kangaroo, deer, drunkard on a Segway, werewolf, Mr Tumnus/Mr Tumnus on a Segway, half a pantomime horse on it's way home

GirlOfTudor · 21/02/2022 13:05

Upload it to an image hosting website and post the link 🤷🏽‍♀️

CounsellorTroi · 21/02/2022 13:46

Could it have been a drunk human?

OK I will do that Laiste, but I am not back until this evening so will send about 8pm. The arm / leg thing is not right but the rest is.

Cripes, DH and I are looking at rural properties with an eye to move in the near future, we've seen some beautiful properties but they really are in the middle of nowhere, some backing on to woodland but after reading this thread I'm not so sure I could live rurally especially with DH away a lot, I'd be scared shitless...I think I like suburbia now!

Marcipex · 21/02/2022 16:06

I wouldn’t buy a house backing onto woodland. Haven’t you seen Midsummer Murders?

I literally dream of living somewhere that the scary thing outside isn't a person 😂
Susu49 · 21/02/2022 16:08

Sounds like the Devil.

Justkeeppedaling · 21/02/2022 16:09

Our house backs onto woodland - a small nature reserve. I love it! No chance of being overlooked, and we see so much wildlife.

Laiste · 21/02/2022 16:12

99% of the time it's ok and/or lovely. The 1% of the time when you get the heebie jeebies (as everyone does sometimes) it's just that bit more hair-raising if your house is surrounded by blackness Grin

Ha I know! I'd be fine during the day but the minute it gets dark I'm not so sure..
