What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

The last few posts have given me the heebie-jeebies!

I still think it was a very large hare, seemingly looking bigger in the night due to car headlights etc. But who knows?

JohnStonesMissus · 21/02/2022 01:00

I love threads like this, especially when the weather is stormy! I'm not over familiar with the Midlands area, but isn't there meant to be a beast of the Cannock Chase? Is it anywhere near that area?

Just a word to the wise, if you talk about yee naaldlooshii, you will draw them to you. And that's all I have to say about that.

Personally I think the OP saw a gorilla. Or not.

Icecreamandapplepie · 21/02/2022 01:17

I really wish I hadn't started this thread.

Just take a pic of your drawing and upload it.

@GallopingHighRoad

Oh *@Laiste* Lest I forget, this is the hosts story. Go from Priors Hardwick your village towards Priors Marston, then turn right towards Byfield. There are some flat fields on the right hand side, before the road rises up a steep hill. Host was driving along that road one winter morning at 5am to get to her hospital shift. Parallel to the hedge inside the field was a string of lanterns, snaking their way like a Chinese dragon. Then it just vanished. Then immediately on the opposite side of the road, in a deep ditch, she saw a man standing with just his head and shoulders visible grinning ear to ear. At 5 am.
Great stuff

I love the idea that there's someone or something out tonight and totally unaffected by the weather.

Did it ask you to play the best song in the world?

@KloppsTeeth

Did it ask you to play the best song in the world?
No, just a tribute.
YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 21/02/2022 02:19

I'm not saying that it was an alien, but should we call Mulder and Scully?

What did we see last night..?
JohnStonesMissus · 21/02/2022 02:24

There's lots of myths and folklore in our ancient country...

1forAll74 · 21/02/2022 03:34

It was probably someones new lock down pet, and they have chucked it out, because it's turned out looking odd, with two legs, and they thought they were buying a puppy, and it's grown out of the house now.

MeaCuppa · 21/02/2022 03:50

Now I will never get back to sleep.

Fridafever · 21/02/2022 05:44

Your descriptions all sound like a kangaroo!

I'm confused now,, where's this story coming from? The Host?

Is the mysterious giant creature on two legs a parasite and the host something the 6ft hare (that definitely isn't a like a kangaroo) lives off? 😃

humblesims · 21/02/2022 07:09

@LavenderAskew it was a recollection from someone the OP had supper with last night.

DamnUserName21 · 21/02/2022 07:12

Love these threads but they scare the crap out of me.

Giant Easter bunny?

Stravaig · 21/02/2022 07:58

@GallopingHighRoad Your hosts: Wiccans heading to local stone circle/sacred grove for a dawn celebration?

Laiste · 21/02/2022 08:02

Still windy!

The area you describe OP - the bit before the wind turbine?

I've saw an odd thing just the other night EXACTLY along there!

I haven't got time now.
Really want to read rest of thread as well.

''Like one, that on a lonely road Doth walk in fear and dread, And having once turn'd round, walks on And turns no more his head: Because he knows, a frightful fiend Doth close behind him tread. ''

Who'd be out in this weather tonight, unless you were poaching..
Maybe it was a poacher?

Annnnnnd that was me done, last night!

Had been lurking felt appropriate, but at that point it was head under the covers and pretend that I'm asleep Grin

LookItsMeAgain · 21/02/2022 08:37

I was watching the BBC Breakfast news on Saturday morning and one of their reporters was chatting with someone from Dartmoor Zoo and the story was all about how their emus had escaped.
However, after chatting with the manager from Dartmoor Zoo, it turned out they weren't emus in that enclosure that was damaged when a tree fell on a fence and they hadn't escaped.....or had they???

Do you live anywhere near Dartmoor Zoo @GallopingHighRoad??? Could you have seen an animal that would have been in an enclosure but did manage to escape after all????

CanIHaveAHolidayPlease · 21/02/2022 08:42

This post has really made me laugh.....
I'm here waiting patiently for OP's picture!
