What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

Putin and Johnson under a coat…Men in Black style … if you know, you know

saltedBubbly · 20/02/2022 23:45

What was its head like OP?

My most plausible guess is it was a deer on its hind legs, and your brain just couldn't process what you were seeing

Marcipex · 20/02/2022 23:46

Bright day-glow blue eggs in a pheasant nest
Orange frogs
I wish I had had a phone camera as a child

Was it a nun?

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 23:50

I have done a drawing, but can’t attach it via my phone as I said earlier. Will try again tomorrow. Anyway the front legs/ arms aren’t quite right so I need to have another go.

I’ve seen the most gobsmacking light in the sky.

Like a thousand meteors together.

People knew I liked The Sky at Night so just laughed and said ’aliens’

As for animals, or whatever, they are better not followed.

Wow! Why would anyone not believe that though?

OP I look forward to the drawing!

@cherrytree63

Was it a nun?
I did not see that one coming Grin
Owlandthepussycat7 · 20/02/2022 23:57

I'm not sure how it can look like a giant hare but be nothing like a kangaroo which is essentially the shape of a giant hare

Everything you are saying sounds kangaroo to me, perhaps more likely wallaby in the UK. If you are 100% certain it's not its probably just a deer on its hind legs or perhaps missing a front leg or something and it looked odd in the head lights

GallopingHighRoad · 20/02/2022 23:59

Oh @Laiste
Lest I forget, this is the hosts story.
Go from Priors Hardwick your village towards Priors Marston, then turn right towards Byfield. There are some flat fields on the right hand side, before the road rises up a steep hill. Host was driving along that road one winter morning at 5am to get to her hospital shift. Parallel to the hedge inside the field was a string of lanterns, snaking their way like a Chinese dragon. Then it just vanished. Then immediately on the opposite side of the road, in a deep ditch, she saw a man standing with just his head and shoulders visible grinning ear to ear. At 5 am.

@BadgerStripes - I love Tweedy but he’s definitely not 6’🤣

Blinkingbatshit · 21/02/2022 00:06

The lantern thing is odd I grant you….farmer clearing ditch at 5am perfectly probable though!

Monopolyiscrap · 21/02/2022 00:06

Dunnocks eggs are blue and the common UK frog can occasionally be orange.

Ah, a local production of the Wicker Man then. What you saw was probably one of the cast on the way home.
oakleaffy · 21/02/2022 00:24

The ''Chinese lanterns and grinning man'' is very odd..
I google Earthed the lane it happened on from your description.

A couple of friends have seen strange things, too..Especially in the half light, at dawn or dusk.
One saw a horse being schooled in a rough field, by a young man, but there was something strange about it, not the sort of field you'd use for schooling, and then horse and rider just disappeared.
As if they were from another era {Cotswolds}

A man saw a woman sobbing {her position was that of a sobbing woman, but she was silent.. he went to approach to see if she was ok, and ..she disappeared.

Are these imprints from times past?
who knows.
I keep an open mind.
Mist seems to really encourage them, whatever or whoever they are.

oakleaffy · 21/02/2022 00:26

@Evasmissingletter

This?
Hahahah! I used to ride on Wimbledon Common as a child, and always looked out for a Womble. Never saw one.
Mamanyt · 21/02/2022 00:30

@FujiIX

Cat
Let me know where you've seen a 6-foot tall cat that walks on two legs! I'd love to meet that cat!

Maybe.

RockinHorseShit · 21/02/2022 00:35

This might be of interest too. I know Andy, he's very approachable & I'm sure he'd be very interested...

@Monopolyiscrap Really not dunnocks eggs, solid brightest blue and as big as bantam eggs.

Monopolyiscrap · 21/02/2022 00:42

A song thrushes eggs?

If not maybe an American Robin that lost its way?

oakleaffy · 21/02/2022 00:45

''Like one, that on a lonely road
Doth walk in fear and dread,
And having once turn'd round, walks on
And turns no more his head:
Because he knows, a frightful fiend
Doth close behind him tread. ''

Who'd be out in this weather tonight, unless you were poaching..
Maybe it was a poacher?

RJnomore1 · 21/02/2022 00:48

@WeAreTheHeroes

Actually re-reading you description, was it Roadrunner?
I thought it sounded like Wyl E Coyote!
