Just come downstairs to make a cuppa as baby DD has only just gone to sleep and it's so cold. Heating is set to 18 at night, and it's not come ok but it's soo chilly. We have a modern house but loads of windows 🥶

Mine is on 17/18 during the day, then down to 9 at night, with the bedroom window open unless there's a howling gale outside. I can't bear sleeping in a warm room.

JellyfishandShells · 13/01/2022 23:58

Set at 20 in day - off at 10.30 pm, on at 7am. Quite a light duvet. Old terraced house that stays warm, in London where it rarely gets prolonged cold and husband is like a human convector heater at night.

mrsmacmc · 13/01/2022 23:59

Clicks on if temp drops below 16 during the night

18.5 from 7-8am then 4-9pm in the day

I turn it off before bed. We really don't need it on at night.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 14/01/2022 00:03

Can't stand heating at night, it goes off around 9pm and we just get layered up. Draughty 200 year old house. Always have window open in bedroom at night too, just feels fresher and I feel I sleep better. I get really anxious in hotels if the windows don't open!

qualitygirl · 14/01/2022 00:03

No it's off at night.

Nillynally · 14/01/2022 00:04

Goes from 21 to 16 at about 8.30, kicks in again (21) about 6 am. Occasionally it will dip below 16 and turn on.

caringcarer · 14/01/2022 00:07

It goes off at 11pm. No heating overnight. Switches on at 6.30 to 18 degrees. Goes off at 10 am then on again at 4pn till bedtime. I feel the cold. If it is a very cold day I switch it up and leave on all day. I would rather go without something else than be cold

UnbelievableAlien · 14/01/2022 00:08

Off,
Can’t stand being too hot at night and am never cold when I’m asleep!
Also, the noise of it kicking in wakes me if it’s on.

caringcarer · 14/01/2022 00:08

If I get cold my asthma gets worse.

Elieza · 14/01/2022 00:11

19 overnight and 21 during the day when I’m in wfh.

I hate walking up with a cold head and cold nose!

Elieza · 14/01/2022 00:11

Waking

VanGoghsDog · 14/01/2022 00:14

19 for the hour in the morning and three hours in the evening, off overnight and between those hours and just the anti frost setting. Always have bedroom and bathroom window open. And the second bedroom usually though I've not checked for a while if it's still open.

I try not to override it in the day, but I have an oil filled radiator I use for an hour now and then and WFH with a blanket over my lap!

Cold nights I take a hot water bottle to bed.

Yaya26 · 14/01/2022 00:16

Off at night when dc go to bed. On 6.30am or half an hour before we get up.Stays on for an hour or so then off until we come home late afternoon. We have a huge log burner that heats water and radiators too. It's lit practically every day. Live in a small old cottage. It's very cosy - almost too warm within minutes of turning on heat.

Yaya26 · 14/01/2022 00:17

No idea of temperatures!

SacharissaCripslock · 14/01/2022 00:19

17.5°

I have guinea pigs and they're delicate wee things and don’t do well in the cold so we have it set for higher than we'd usually do.

Hi What set up to you have in the house for them? Are in all year or just in the winter?
Svara · 14/01/2022 00:30

Mine is set at 17 for an hour in the morning then in the evening until 8. It's off at night.

ShoppingBasket · 14/01/2022 00:33

Oh dear my poor guinea pigs don't get heating on at night Hmm maybe they have acclimatised to my cold house!
I don't have heating on except morning, maybe around 330/4pm then from maybe 530 - 7 ish. I don't like hot houses though and wouldn't be able to sleep. I do put draught excluder in front of door and close blinds and curtains around 5 currently.

SacharissaCripslock · 14/01/2022 00:33

@purpleme12 - They're in the living room all year and we have a C&C style set up for them. They take up an ever expanding area as we add on extra 'rooms' for the little princes. Grin

kittensinthekitchen · 14/01/2022 00:34

Off at night.

On 7-8.30am
On 7.30-9pm

No idea what temperature, thermostat doesn't do anything.

I read they don’t like it below 16°. I don’t know if that's totally accurate but the worry is in my head now so I can’t sleep if I'm worried they're cold! I’m a total Pig Slave. 😆
Progress2019 · 14/01/2022 00:37

No heating on at night and bedroom window open exactly like @NursieBernard I feel like I couldn’t breathe otherwise. Our duvet is 10.5, and quite thick

itsutterlyshit · 14/01/2022 00:39

Heating is off at night and we sleep with the bedroom windows open all year round.
Heating is usually set to 18 downstairs and 17 up stairs. I can't stand a hot bedroom and can't sleep with the heating on.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 14/01/2022 00:46

I don't have my heating on in the day, let alone at night! (And my bedroom window is wide open.)

When I stayed at my mum's at Christmas I woke up with a headache every day because the heating was on over night.
