Just come downstairs to make a cuppa as baby DD has only just gone to sleep and it's so cold. Heating is set to 18 at night, and it's not come ok but it's soo chilly. We have a modern house but loads of windows 🥶

Came onto this thread because my new lodger just asked if I could put the heating on at night when she is in bed and I wanted to check if I was being unreasonable in saying no!

Never have the heating on at night. Would be boiling in bed. May put it on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening at this time of year. In the depths of winter will put the timer on 7-9 morning and 7- 11 evening. I hate being cold! Provide your lodger with a hot water bottle, op!

Having a mattress topper has helped us feel much warmer in bed.

I turn the thermostat down to 10.

We never have the heating on at night.

Ours is set to 11° overnight for frost protection, it never comes on.

Nothing at night though it has some sort of 'stop the pipes freezing' setting (5 degrees? Not sure). Mornings and evenings we usually have 20, this year we are going to try for less.

Tell her to fuck off and put an extra blanket over herself.

It's at 19 in the day and 16 at night. Old draughty house and outside temp regularly down to -10 overnight. Where we live it's more common to leave heating on all the time as houses would get very cold in winter if the heating was off for more than a few hours. And I'm often around in the day, and DH wfh three days a week. In practice the temp on the thermostat means the heat from the daytime keeps the house warm enough that the radiators rarely turn themselves on overnight.

Currently have no heating or hot water anyway... it's about 15 in the bedroom. Boiler company have been, said we need a part, ordered the part, told us the part has arrived but are holding it hostage because they won't make an appointment to fit it 😭 🥶
