Just come downstairs to make a cuppa as baby DD has only just gone to sleep and it's so cold. Heating is set to 18 at night, and it's not come ok but it's soo chilly. We have a modern house but loads of windows 🥶

Mine is usually on 18 all the time. The house will get damp if the temperature constantly fluctuates. It keeps the heat quite well though and isn’t on a lot. I turn it up to 19 or 20 when everyone is home on an evening if it’s particularly cold but usually 18 is fine.

Vampirethriller · 14/01/2022 07:17

Off at 6, I have a hot water bottle til bed. Back on in the morning.

freshcarnation · 14/01/2022 07:20

Heating goes off at 8.30 at night and doesn't get turned on til 6.30 here. Can't bear heating at night or the sound of the boiler

Off at night here

dementedpixie · 14/01/2022 07:25

Always off at night. Goes off around 10 and back on around 6am. On a timer a couple of times during the day at 19⁰C.

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 14/01/2022 07:27

It's off at night. Unhealthy to have it on.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 14/01/2022 07:27

We are lucky this house is so warm we never need it on at night . I only have to have it on a few hours in the day .
But in a previous freezing cold flat it would come on automatically overnight when it dropped below a certain temperature

ufucoffee · 14/01/2022 07:29

Our heating goes off at 8 pm every night. I have the window open in the bedroom. No way could I have the heating on all night, I'd be far too hot in bed.

Marmite27 · 14/01/2022 07:30

Ours is on the pipe safe setting from 10pm which is 7.

10pm-5:45am - 7
5:45am -7:15am - 18
3:45pm-10pm - 18

I was up at 4am with one of the kids and it was 12. It felt chilly, but it was ok under a blanket. We prefer it cooler overnight.

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 14/01/2022 07:31

We put ours down to 16 degrees at night, so it only kicks in if it's absolutely Baltic outside. Our house is hard to heat, but once warm, it retains the heat really well.

RampantIvy · 14/01/2022 07:32

@DrDreReturns

It's off at night. Who needs the heating on when you are in bed?
This ^^

Ours does have a low thermostat setting at night, but it essentially goes off every night. It would only click on if it was something like -10 outside.

We have a warm duvet and are asleep so don't need the heating on at night.

megletthesecond · 14/01/2022 07:34

I've tried, and failed, to have it lower or off. The chill wakes me up.

Windows shut, winter duvet, layered pj's and heating is what I need.

Beamur · 14/01/2022 07:35

Off at night..I like to sleep in a cool house.

IDKAYBIF32 · 14/01/2022 07:37

It's off from about 9pm here. Bedroom window open most nights.

gogohm · 14/01/2022 07:37

There's a crust setting that kicks in at 12 degrees but otherwise it turns off at 8.30pm, set to 19 for an hour in the morning and from 5-8.30pm

LadyEloise1 · 14/01/2022 07:43

Our heating is off at night.
We have it on for an hour and a half in the morning and an hour midday and then do a one hour boost every now and then. It is a very cold house in winter but the living area and kitchen is south facing.
We have gas central heating.
Do people have their heat on all night ?
Isn't that very expensive ?

BashStreetKid · 14/01/2022 07:53

12

lololololollll · 14/01/2022 07:53
  1. We,re ridiculous
lololololollll · 14/01/2022 07:54

Can't believe people don't. I have about 100 wees in the night and I can't walk to the toilet in the freezing cold, I'm such a wimp. Maybe I should wear more in bed 😂

MagicKit · 14/01/2022 07:55

Not at all. It comes on at 5am at 25 degrees, off at 8am, on at midday for an hour, on again at 3, off at 7. Unless it's absolutely Baltic outside. Then it's on all day and off at 9pm

Off the rest of the time. I have jumpers and throws. I do not have a bank balance for huge gas bills.

I thought that was your sort code and account number, offering to pay overnight heating costs. 😀

I never have mine on at night; I can't afford it for more than an hour or so in the day. I have 2 quilts on overnight and thermals and more extra layers in the day.

MagicKit · 14/01/2022 07:56

25 because the house is big and cold

Gardeningdream · 14/01/2022 08:02

Generally off at night but last night it was so cold her I left it on low and switched the radiators off upstairs, as downstairs takes forever to heat during the day when it gets freezing at night.

GTAlogic · 14/01/2022 08:04

We don't turn our heating on or off and instead control it with the thermostat. Overnight we usually set it to around 14°C which is normally low enough for it to not come on unless, like last night, it's really cold. During the day it's usually 15-17°C.

Bettybantz · 14/01/2022 08:04

Heating? At night? Do you think I’m made of money?!
