Just come downstairs to make a cuppa as baby DD has only just gone to sleep and it's so cold. Heating is set to 18 at night, and it's not come ok but it's soo chilly. We have a modern house but loads of windows 🥶

Ours is off between 10 at night and 6am. Can't stand being hot in bed.

This thread has been a eye opener for me !
Thank you to pp's who replied to my question.
On the basis of this thread ...I am now the proud owner of 3 little "things" ,, temperature monitor and humidity .( Don't know what the humidity bit is for ...the writing on the leaflet is soooo small!)

So far ( only put them out an hour ago) temp upstairs landing is 14.9 and kitchen is 14.4.

I still have no heating on .
I think we have just acclimatesed to a "cold" house.
No wonder poor ds's GF is always cold when she stays here .

I think I am going to love playing with my new gadgets ...will put the other one in the sitting room .

bizzey · 16/01/2022 14:52

Ohh and to answer the question in the OP ...I think it is obvious ..I don't have it on..flip I don't have it on during the day even at your night temperatures .

Thank you menopause for keeping my bills down 😅😅

I should say ..I am not that mean ..
It got put on for an hour this morning for D's to get ready for work ...and I will pop it on later for an hour .

bizzey · 16/01/2022 15:00

Disclaimer ...we do have a gas fire in sitting room if we are having game/film night sort of thing ( makes me go sleep !)
I really am not that much of a Scrooge , horrible person !

Its off, who can afford to put it on all night?

yikesanotherbooboo · 16/01/2022 16:15

No heating at night here or in any house that I have lived in .

100problems · 16/01/2022 18:04

Off with window open.

SpeedRunParent · 16/01/2022 21:38

9 at night. It only actually comes on if it drops below that though.

Annabelle69 · 16/01/2022 22:28

Not only that, but you're asleep? If it's cold I have a hot water bottle, which is super warm.

I think I'm starting to understand why some people's energy bills are enormous.

Mine is auto set to kick in at 7° at night but it's never come on. I set it to come on at 7.30 for 2 hours.

QuinionsRainbow · 17/01/2022 19:19

Heating off at 10:30, pm, back on at 6:30 am. Generally sleep under just a 4.5 tog duvet in winter and less in summer..

Ancientdreams · 17/01/2022 19:40

If I had the heating on till 10.30pm I would be boiling half the night and really uncomfortable. Mine is off about 8pm at the latest.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 17/01/2022 19:41

Heating off at 9.30 set to 11 or whatever the safety temp is on the nest never falls below 16

Footprintsinthegrass · 17/01/2022 21:02

I have mine at 19 from 2pm and usually turn in off at 5pm (down to 13, never clicks back on at that). If I'm up for a wee ill turn it on at 5am and it's usually at about the 15 mark when I turn it on. Otherwise it's set to come on 6-8am

BigValue · 17/01/2022 21:53

Are you people lizards? I have it at 21 in the day, and 15 at night.

RubyJam · 17/01/2022 21:58

I don’t have an actual thermostat so have no idea what temp my house is when the heating is on.

I only have heating on from 330-730 usually
Everyone is showered and in pjs and dressing gowns and upstairs by then so the top floor of the house is cozier too.

I will v v rarely out the heating on overnight if it’s forecast to be extremely frozen , we are in Scotland and had a night last winter of -11 c . I left the heating on all night to ensure pipes didn’t freeze, however that is a very rare occurrence

Notcontent · 17/01/2022 23:49

I am always really surprised by the incredibly low temperatures people claim to find comfortable. If I am just sitting around and working during the day then around 19 or 20 is good for me. And that’s still wearing a woolly jumper.

At night I like to sleep in a cold bedroom but for me cold is around 15 or 16 degrees.

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 17/01/2022 23:54

Off at night.

Shmithecat2 · 17/01/2022 23:55

I think it's on 22/23 all the time at the moment. My bedroom radiator is on low as I don't like a hot bedroom, but I want the bathroom warm, and I like to go downstairs to a warm sitting room/kitchen in the morning.

ExtremelyDetermined · 18/01/2022 06:32

Ours is 11 overnight (I don't want it coming on as the boiler wakes me up). Just checked the thermostat, as it is set to 18 from 6.30 and is just coming on - the inside temp has stayed at 15 despite being -2 outside.

becca3210 · 18/01/2022 06:35

17.5 thermostat in baby's room so will be triggered if goes below that

cherrypie66 · 18/01/2022 06:43

Zero

Onlyhereforchaletschool · 18/01/2022 06:47

Set at 7 overnight, it’s a frost protect setting.
