Just had my pre op and covid pcr, apparently my stats are perfect for an operation. Xmas Grin

Nydj · 14/12/2021 14:28

I know we are supposed to fill up the old thread first but I wanted to reply and say how pleased I am for you, @Silkieschickens.

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/12/2021 15:47

Marking place.

That’s good @Silkieschickens

Silkie that sounds good.
And the old thread is full.

We have found another dish DS will eat. And I am over my ears in work, but IT insists that this is the time to migrate servers.

IWanderedLonely · 14/12/2021 16:55

Great news Silkies.
I am having a cup of tea before I go in search of the Christmas decs. On a scale of 1 to 10 for feeling Christmassy I'm a zero right now.

DoctorTwo · 14/12/2021 18:08

Good luck Silkies, heaven knows you deserve some. Booked my car in for a service next Monday, hope it's ok.

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/12/2021 18:15

Am thinking about Christmas Eve and having a Chinese take away save the faff of cooking.

Only thing is the better Chinese is a 25 mins away.

Echobelly · 14/12/2021 18:27

I'm getting over a horrid cold but finally had a good night's sleep last night, thank God, after 3 really bad ones.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/12/2021 18:43

Some of you will remember DH's papers, which have been lying undisturbed and dusty on tables, benches and sofas since March.
He has announced that he will remove them on the 31.12.2021.
It is not clear yet, if it is removed as in properly dealt with or removed as in put back into his office and ignore for another year.

Do they deliver?
mathanxiety · 14/12/2021 19:40

Hopefully it won't be a case of out with the old, in with the new, Prok.

That's much better news, Silkies.

We're experiencing unusually mild weather today, and more of the same promised for tomorrow. As a result, I feel no sense of urgency about Christmas, which feels months away still.

I have a hi viz sighting to report - gas company workers trying to locale a leak have dug a hole through the roots of a tree nearby and are busy doing technical things with piping and tools that look like metal detectors but are probably not. The hi viz gear is neon green, for those trying to form a mental image. The five workmen are also wearing hard hats. There are three trucks parked on the street with flashing orange lights atop their cabs, some traffic cones, and a big heap of mud beside the hole, with plywood under it.

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/12/2021 19:57

Ha ha ha @sueelleker do they deliver 🙈 no we don’t even have a local taxi service we are quite rural. I should add the trip takes 25 mins in total. They do duck pancakes which I fancy.

Echo have you tried Vicks vapour rub on your feet - with socks on to go to bed. I swear by it.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/12/2021 20:07

Excellent news silkie Flowers

Thank you for the detailed description math, you painted the scene beautifully in my minds eye Grin

lemons, this is the downside to rural life. In my extensive experience, it is always better to err on the side of caution and go for the better takeaway. There is a complicated algorithm in my head that weighs up tastiness over distance. I obviously don't know the specifics of your dilemma, but my gut feeling is you should go for the better takeaway

Today is my birthday, which I have celebrated with a 12 hour shift. Once finished I shall go home and straight to bed to do it all over again tomorrow. Being grown up always seemed so glamorous when I was a child

SayAaa · 14/12/2021 20:16

Happy birthday @Champagneforeveryone

@mathanxiety that sounds interesting. It would have been interesting to see how they dig through the roots without harming the tree. I will be back tomorrow for an update.

It's been very mild here today. There's a bush in my neighbour's garden which usually produces yellow flowers on it's bare branches in January or February. Today, I noticed it has yellow flowers already. It seems too early.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/12/2021 20:20

Math When I came home a paket of books had been delivered. It lives on the dining table unopened as he knows what's in it.

A neon of green hi-viz is quite a rare sight - you schould log it with HiVizOS (HiViz Observation Society)

RodJaneFreddy · 14/12/2021 20:38

My boobs are sore and I’m very tired

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/12/2021 20:53

@Champagneforeveryone happy birthday or as we say in Wales Penbwydd Hapus.

Yes rural living has a massive down side but in lockdowns it came into its own.

@RodJaneFreddy I am assuming you’re pregnant. I remember pregnancy tiredness shattering. I mean not as bad as baby tired but hard non the less.

MissConductUS · 14/12/2021 21:28

I am back from my trip to pick up DD. All went well and DD is in her room, from which she will occasionally emerge over the holidays. Smile

I'm glad to see that everyone made it to the new thread. And happy birthday Champagne.

Welcome, @SayAaa and @RodJaneFreddy, and thanks for sharing your news. SayAass, where do you live that flowers bloom in January and February?

I had a Ring doorbell alert yesterday afternoon. The app notified me that someone had rung the doorbell. It was an emergency medical services technician who had been dispatched to the house by mistake. I had a nice chat with him through the app and doorbell and managed to convince him that no one was home and therefore no one was in need of assistance. He did have the correct house number. It's really handy to be able to do this. I don't know what the bloke would have done if no one had answered the door.

DH is going to make pizza tonight when he gets home, as it is DD's favorite dinner.

Checking in, and about to get back to work.

Nydj · 14/12/2021 22:04

So much excitement for a dull and uninteresting thread! Happy Birthday @Champagneforeveryone! I definitely remember the papers, @Prokupatuscrakedatus - I hope you will remember to update us on New Years Day as to what happened to them. Enjoy having your DD at home and your DS joining you soon too (I think?) @MissConductUS. And neon green hi vis - they are really spoiling us now!

My plant supports for the bulbs in pots have arrived and I have put them in the pots. I hope I didn’t go through any bulbs with the sticks of the supports.

Silkieschickens · 14/12/2021 22:07

Happy birthday Champagne

Thanks all.

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 03:45

Enjoy having your DD back MissC

I passed the covid test and pre op, next the nuclear medicine department Xmas Shock for sentinal node biopsy prep on Thursday then 11am Friday for op. Cancelled dentists as on isolation now but one day I will get there.

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 03:48

Congrats on finding another dish DS will eat Prok, that is a very rare event here, even though sometimes he says surprise me.

HelenaJustina · 15/12/2021 06:30

@Silkieschickens well done in passing the tests with flying colours. Is your surgery this Friday? As in two days time?

Happy Birthday for yesterday @Champagneforeveryone hope you get to celebrate in a non-exhausted way soon.

It’s Christmas lunch day at work today, the catering team will make Christmas lunch for approx 190 people. It will be very tense and stressful, all hands will have to be on deck, but in the end everyone will have had a lovely time.
