Prok, I want cake too. I have so far managed to resist taking a brownie or three out of the freezer as I'm sending them to DS at uni with a few things for his birthday, which is coming up soon. He'll be 22. How the heck did that happen? I may make some chocolate chip cookies for him too, as they are his favorite.

Helena, your mastery of Catholic traditions continues to amaze and impress me. Smile. Your DC's symptoms are consistent with a mild case of the omicron variant, which tends to concentrate in the upper respiratory tract, not the lungs.

Work is over for the day. DH just cooked streaky bacon and is getting ready to make pizza. I'm looking forward to watching the new Amazon Prime series Reacher. It's based on a book by Lee Child, a Brit who lives not far from me. I heard a talk he gave at a local library about 10 years ago. I'm a huge fan of his books. The star in the Reacher show is quite the looker too. Grin

Thanks for recipe @MissConductUS very keen to try that now! Hoping when I’m better to make it for my staff in work who work so hard.

We are working on becoming and developing the concept of Hygge in my work.

Haircut today DM having DS then we are going out for day.

HelenaJustina · 05/02/2022 11:25

DC1 very faint positive this morning. At this rate, the non-positive people will be isolating in their bedrooms while the positives have the rest of the house!

Oh no, Helena Sad I think you definitely ought to get some emergency Crunchies in, and more Gin

I bit the bullet and bought a new iPad mini to replace my current one, which is running low on space, and also doesn’t hold much of a charge any more as I may have used it so much during lockdown

When it arrived I discovered belatedly that it has the new USB-C connector, so I now have to buy a new long charging lead plus adaptor so it plugs into the standard USB port on my PC, and because it’s very very slightly smaller than the old one I also need a new case and screen protector. So much extra expense Angry They get you every way!

Champagneforeveryone · 05/02/2022 16:44

preventative gin of course helena

A horse is yelling outside. Weekends are the time that various horsey ladies come and take their horses to horsey things. The horses whose horsey ladies have not planned horsey things for them get quite cross, hence the yelling.

It's also very windy here so sleep is not easy. I've been watching some footage of the rescue of the boy in the well in Morocco which has not been soothing to the nerves.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 17:03

So you are surrounded by disgruntled horses. Go out and re-gruntle them by scratching their foreheads.
When it ever stops raining I will go out, too, and measure our terrasse, draw a floor plan incl. sunlight and properly plan for the plants I want to put out there.

I have heard about the child and his poor parents let's hope for the best.

MissConductUS · 05/02/2022 17:08

I've been to the warehouse club and the supermarket this morning. The roads are fine, but everything else is still covered in ice. It's quite pretty actually.

While at the supermarket I had an impulse buy, a package of 6 bialys. They are small rolls that look a bit like flat bagels but are actually quite different, Polish in origin and quite popular in NY. I haven't had one in years. I toasted one when I got home and had it with a bit of butter.

Hilda, the only way you can win is to buy a bit of Apple stock. The gains will offset your spending and make you feel less taken advantage of. We own some Apple shares, it works a treat.

Champagne, will the new house put you in close proximity to the horsey ladies? Where I live there are some private stables, but not many and none close.

DD has texted me a picture of her driver's license so that I may do her taxes for her. Have I heard a "Thanks mom" for doing this? The question is rhetorical of course.

Good to see you Miss - we need you to start a new thread Grin

Luckily I do not have to do taxes for DC as yet, but I have to find a new therapist for DS as he will count as an adult soon.

MissConductUS · 05/02/2022 17:38

Thanks, Prok, I am aware that we are close to completing this one. I'll start a new one later today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 17:39

Thank you Miss

Have you decided on a name for your frog?

Champagneforeveryone · 05/02/2022 17:42

We'll be miles away miss thank goodness

This is the view from my bedroom window when I went to bed this morning. The closest fence is my garden fence, the disgruntled horses are behind that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 18:34

Champagne Lovely!
The only things I can see out of my windows (any of them) are roofs and walls.

One of our radiators stays cold. The problem is the thermostat (the littels pin that moves in an out got stuck) I hope I can sort this out tomorrow.

MissConductUS · 05/02/2022 18:39

Prok, we have named the frog Freckles, as he or she has spots. Freckles is missing at the moment. I hope he or she has simply moved to another location on the aloe plant. I am currently researching whether or not is will be safe to return Freckles to the great outdoors. As amphibians are cold-blooded, this may be possible.

Champagne, what a lovely sunrise. You look to be quite rurual.

I have just filed DD's Federal, New York, and Massachusetts tax returns. She gets money back on Federal but owes for NY and MA. It works out to a very small refund, but the payments will go out much sooner than the refund will arrive.

As I feel a nap coming on, I've started the next thread:

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 21: Calmly through the day

But let's try to fill this one up before moving on.

Lemonsandlemonade · 05/02/2022 19:47

Well today got DS a bag for nursery 😬😳. DM treated us to lunch which was delicious if a bit slow. 35mins for a falafel flat bread thing DS waited so well.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 19:57

lemon Smile
Mine had tiny backpacks that lasted them for the whole 3 years and then went to other children, so worth it.

Miss DH once had to do a US tax declaration for a small amount of money from a symposium - an experience.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 20:42

DS came in to discuss the proper translation of 'to reference' a multi purpose English word which has no multi purpose aequivalent.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/02/2022 20:57

I am going to fill this thread now.
