@HildaTablet I fell over this week too. Splat on my face while out running. I still have grazed knuckles, cut on my elbow, a bruised knee and sore muscle in my upper arm. I’m being very stoic though and hardly mentioning it except to DH who is heartily sick of my patient suffering

HildaTablet · 17/12/2021 11:58

Sympathies, Helena - but at least you were doing something athletic! I was doing nothing more energetic than walking downstairs clutching my iPad Blush I hope your injuries heal soon; the jury’s still out as to whether I develop any bruises...

BasiliskStare · 17/12/2021 13:11

@HildaTablet - I am sorry about face planting - little pup has today managed to get downstairs on his own - took some encouraging but done it 3 times - I would give him 3/10 for style but 10/10 for bravery - maybe you and he could be best friends - hope nose and dignity all well

& All best to @Silkieschickens - I hope all has gone well & I so admire your good nature and humour in the face of that Flowers

@MintJulia
my mother took her friend to buy a wig under similar circumstances and it looked fabulous

All best to all x

Welcome, @MintJulia and @Moneypennysfreedomfund, and thanks for sharing your news. Good luck with your upcoming treatment MintJulia, and my condolences to those who have had falls. I had a few when I used to run in the dark. An LED headlamp pretty much solved that problem.

It's nice to have DD home, but she spends most of her time in her room. She did the same thing before she went to uni, so it's not a big surprise. Her brother is a bit more outgoing. I have a project I'm trying to get finished before I go on leave next week, but it will probably require some wfh after Christmas.

Hope all has gone well today silkie

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/12/2021 16:23

Another 2 parcels of books have arrived and joined the first one on the table ...

BasiliskStare · 17/12/2021 17:06

In other boring news I managed to get to the Post office and back. So all family presents posted. Have also hoovered up the rest of the glass bauble which little pup ate. ( I did previously make sure he had none in his mouth )

And another Flowers to Silkieschickens

@MissConductUS Ds is working at home for the next two weeks - lovely to have him here but I know he will be in and out. So as Friday - Dh & I have to choose a take away - Oh the decisions.

Spitspotsput · 17/12/2021 18:19

Today I behaved like an anxious person while looking for Anxious People in Waterstones. They were sold out so I was even more anxious while ordering another copy.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/12/2021 18:51

My Yodel parcel is still "out for delivery"

It has been for the last two days so my hopes are not high Confused

Lemonsandlemonade · 17/12/2021 19:43

Thanks for kind wishes re work. I know come January it will be fine. Boy though I hate missing out on my son.

@Silkieschickenshope you are ok x

MissConductUS · 17/12/2021 19:48

Welcome, @Spitspotsput, and thanks for sharing your shopping news. I like crime fiction too, but we don't have Waterstones here. Even Barnes and Noble seems to be disappearing.

Champagne, when it's been out for delivery for two days, it's fallen off the truck lorry.

It's pretty quiet here today. It was a treat to watch DD go out and bring in the post this morning on one of the outside Ring cameras. She loves bringing in the mail.

Hoping Silkies is ok.
Just returned from a trying day managing the hospital bed situation and trying to help out clinically. Drinking wine now.
The rugby game I was going to tomorrow is off so I will go for a soothing walk.

I hope so too. I also hope they didn't send her home today.

Hospital admissions for covid in NY are up about 7% over last week and omicron is 13% of reported cases. People are complacent because most cases are mild. There are still plenty of people who will require inpatient care if they're not vaccinated.

Thanks everyone. Had surgery, went fine I think, results in 2 to 3 weeks, probably 3 as Christmas then radiotherapy next, back home as just a day hospital, no drains in, very drowsy but can just about hobble around. All my obs were ok. They and breast centre are closed for weekend but I have a phone number for issues over weekend. No painkillers given for taking home just told to take ibruprofen and paracetomol, do arm exersises and put non wired bra on after 24 hours. Can shallow bath from Sunday and shower from 7 days. Had trouble waking me up from general but I am always like that and had warned them but they work such long days, 12 hours plus DH was late so poor nurse worked 13 hours with me not waking up and dh. She was the loveliest nurse and the female surgeon was lovely, I hope I see her again not mine. They operated mid afternoon so chatted to the other breast cancer patient. Not in much pain atm and can move arm fine. DH made me cheese and biscuits, I got 3 ginger biscuits, 2 squashes and 1 tea in hospital.

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 23:07

When I came round I insisted I was in Australia and was rather disappointed to find out I was in Ely Hospital, I was envisaging recovering with penguins on the beach not a foggy wintery day, it looked like I was entering heaven as we arrived as every road was full of fog which looked like cloud. Then there were big mounds of earth by the hospital which I said to dh I hope that isnt were they are hiding bodies. Xmas Shock

sproutsandparsnips · 17/12/2021 23:07

Glad things went ok silkies.
your DH sounds like a star!
Sending prayers and thoughts for speedy recovery.

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 23:09

I now have a big fleece onesie on and on the recliner. I have to wear compression stockings, thet also gave me trampolining socks but no trampoline just for the grip.

Acornsandleaves · 17/12/2021 23:10

Glad you're ok Silkie, I hope your pain stays manageable.

I've had a sad evening, our pet gerbil suddenly became ill and was put to sleep, we will miss him.

Acornsandleaves · 17/12/2021 23:13

Fleece onesie sounds nice and cosy
The trampoline socks made me smile, trampolining probably isn't advisable right now Grin

MissConductUS · 18/12/2021 01:18

I'm glad you are doing so well, Silkie. It will take a day for you to recover completely from GA, so do take it very easy.

OP posts:
HildaTablet · 18/12/2021 03:39

Having a sleepless night here so have just seen your posts, Silkie. Glad to hear the op is over and you're home and sounding amazingly with it. With luck you'll have managed some sleep and be on top of the pain medication. As MissC says, take it very easy, but I'm sure your DH and DCs (not to mention Silkiecat and rabbit) will look after you.

Now I'm going to get up and make a cup of tea in the hope that'll help me drop off to sleep eventually.

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/12/2021 06:41

@Silkieschickens lovely to see you post update.

DS hasn’t slept well no idea why.

Am bracing myself for another lockdown.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/12/2021 07:36

@Silkieschickens I am glad you are back!
From experience - the pain should stay managable, my foot hurt more.
But arm exercises are boring but important.

Champagneforeveryone · 18/12/2021 08:18

Flowers silkie

....
My Yodel parcel is "out for delivery" again. I am apparently stop number 15 Hmm

IWanderedLonely · 18/12/2021 08:45

Glad the op went well Silkie hope you slept well.
We should have roofers coming this morning to sort out our chimney and gutter. I will report if they wear hi vis.
