Yes, 2 days time Xmas Shock and should be in and out same day which I am also Xmas Shock about but great to have it done so quickly. Its a mastectomy without reconstruction as to get both they said was end January and getting cancer out is the priority. Then it will be a 1 to 2 year wait for delayed reconstruction unless go private but best to do radio and chemo if chemo first anyway.

3 more days left to end of term.

I am stressing about getting things ready for operation for when I come back as I won't be able to do much for a couple of weeks and DH is can we do that tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes for DH. So after some huffing and puffing from DH he says he will take a day off.

Thinking of you @silkieschickens

After the school run I have two parcels to collect. One is a pair of jeans (I’m always searching for the perfect pair) and one is a handbag. Both are second hand as I’ve tried for the past few years to only buy clothes second hand. I’ve mainly succeeded I think.

HildaTablet · 15/12/2021 09:20

Keeping everything possible crossed for you, Silkie. So glad the stars have aligned at last and that your surgeon is someone you like and trust.

@Prok, well done on finding another dish that your Ds will eat.I remember well when our son first tried and ate some pizza crust - he only ate the crusts at first but it meant we didn’t have to make him pasta for dinner every. Single. Day.

HelenaJustina · 15/12/2021 14:11

I’ve rebooked my booster jab, bit further away but 4 days sooner so am taking that as a win!

sueelleker · 15/12/2021 15:06

My husband has a date for his follow-up bladder op! Jan 5th.

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/12/2021 15:45

@sueelleker that’s great. Hope he is recovering well.

@HelenaJustina tie does appear to be of the essence with the boosters.

@Silkieschickens have everything crossed for Friday. As I’ve said heifer if you need anything just ask.

Feeling slightly agghhh as I am hosting this Christmas only DM and in laws but I normally have my prep done by now.

MissConductUS · 15/12/2021 16:19

Capital, I'm glad you found the new thread, and thanks for sharing your news.

Sue, that's great news. Everyone is expecting covid hospitalizations to peak again in January because of omicron, so it's good he'll have it done so soon.

Helena, it's good to know that the UK is successfully organizing the booster rollout. We have millions of people in the US who aren't six months after their second mRNA jab and therefore not eligible. I hope they aren't too vulnerable.

Prok, I know the feeling. DD was a very picky eater but seems to have gotten better since going to uni. DS doesn't come home until the 23rd, unfortunately. His uni holds exams later than most and since he's a residence assistant he has to be the last to leave his dorm.

Thanks everyone. DH has decided he is going to find the out of stock recliner, I think this is a futile search, but he managed to find someone who answered the phone at IKEA and they said that IKEA Greenwich have 44 recliners I like but no cover and he has already bought the cover from ebay. I am sceptical IKEA Greenwich will sell him just the recliner as its not listed online but the helpline says they will. I told him to come back with something though he says if he can't find it he will drive to IKEA Milton Keynes, this is part of his plan I think will go wrong as IKEA Milton Keynes is miles away with nothing in stock. So DD has gone with him, she is more sensible than DH when there is a problem and I have sent a list of alternatives. DH will always hunt out the first one even if the first one isn't an option so generally comes back with nothing in that case.

DH often spends a month hunting Christmas presents and ends up with nothing as he never finds anything that meets his requirements and he won't change his requirements. He normally gets things a month late in the sale.

Chickens have been cleaned out today. DH has tomorrow off. I have nuclear medicine dept tomorrow Xmas Shock and getting house ready. My lovely friend called today though she is very worried they are doing it as day surgery but I just want surgery and you don't get a choice of overnight. I normally am really slow to wake up after a general so am not sure how day surgery when its a 3 hour operation and I don't go in until 11am will work but will see.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/12/2021 19:16

Silkie I keep everything crossed fo you.
That was my idea, too, buy another colour and change the cover.

I failed to win a sixpack in a family competition. And a co-worker's son is getting rid of his star wars lego Grin

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 19:42

Grey is also out of stock so he is trying to get a coverless recliner.

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/12/2021 20:57

Have booked my booster for next week.

There were lots of appointments but all of which I was working or DH was and could have DS.

Am pleased I’ll have it before Christmas.

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 21:26

Got a message from DH saying car is full, they have been gone 3.5 hours. Asked what it was full with and DD replied with a chair thingy and 2 V pillows but no covers, do you want a McDonalds?

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 21:27

Further message - we got some food but not for tonight - we got meatballs smoked salmon lindenberry jam? and some daim thingies (not bars but like little chocolates)

Nydj · 15/12/2021 21:51

@Silkieschickens - they have the recliner? And your DH had the foresight to get the cover a little while ago didn’t he? Yay! And, of course, everything crossed for you for tomorrow xx

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 21:58

I presume chair thingy is teenager talk for recliner though not sure which one but any is fine. Thanks for the good wishes, its only an injection of dye tomorrow then op on Friday. Getting house set up tomorrow as will probably come back half asleep on Friday possibly with drains in.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/12/2021 22:18

@Silkieschickens I am - like the others - waiting for the recliner reveal.

DS needs drawer inserts for his Kallax wall to sort legos in. So I will go to IKEA and take DD with me (there is a walk in vacc station in the parking lot).

dementedma · 15/12/2021 22:26

DD1 was 31 today. How can that be?
A client gave me two bottles of gin.
Dd2 finally got the keys to her first house.

Quite an eventful day, really

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 22:26

Silkiecat was also very excited when dh told her he was bringing a chair back, but I suspect she just heard the ch sound and thought chicken.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/12/2021 22:35

Just make sure you actually get to sit in the chair - if Silkiecat likes it, who knows Smile

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 22:45

DD and DH are back I asked DD which one it is and she said Erudson I am sure I am pronouncing that right. So it is the one I wanted.

ladygracie · 15/12/2021 22:48

That’s great. Well done them. I think that is a good omen.

MissConductUS · 15/12/2021 22:49

Welcome, @dementedma, and thanks for sharing your news. My DD turns 20 next week and I can hardly believe it. You did have quite an eventful day.

Silkie, best wishes for an uneventful surgery tomorrow. Follow your post-op instructions carefully and do not neglect the pain medications. You are going to heal better with them than without them. If Silkiecat takes possession of the chair DH will have to buy you another. Smile

Silkieschickens · 15/12/2021 22:57

Thanks MissC Surgery is on Friday and we will set recliner upstairs, Silkiecat never ventures upstairs now so its safe.

Acornsandleaves · 15/12/2021 23:13

Glad you got your recliner Silkie. Good luck for Friday, I'm pleased things are finally moving forward for you.

I've got my booster tomorrow. I got a text from my GP inviting me to book into a vaccination clinic in the church nearby, so thankfully I didn't have to battle with the main booking website
