Deathraystare · 16/12/2021 19:44

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. DH is being amazing, definitely married the right man, though he is being rather soppy. He said all he wants for Christmas is me for the next 50 years and when the will person asked about him remarrying if I die he said he would never remarry as he could never find anyone else he could love so much.

@Silkieschickens

That is so lovely! All the best to you and the 'right man'!

Sending good positive vibes @Silkieschickens.

Speaking of shrinking and measuring height DS was measured the other day by Health Visitor she put him on the measuring thing his knees were bent when took the measurement. Meaning it wasn’t overly accurate. 🙄

Feeling apprehensive about work as I have to call as staff member into the office. I hate conflict.

Lemonsandlemonade · 16/12/2021 20:49

@Deathraystare that’s so lovely

Nydj · 16/12/2021 21:06

That’s lovely, @Silkieschickens. I hope things were ok today and all the very best for tomorrow xx
Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 02:46

Thanks very much everyone, am now radioactive for 24 hours to highlight the sentinal node or something like that. Had to drink 2 litres yesterday and only got round to drinking last 1.2 litres in one go late on so now will be up a lot. But got some sleep. Still have to get chair etc set up but DH has tomorrow off. Get to hospital for 11am, had a bit of a panic about having a breatpst chopped off but have calmed down again. Also got MRI report through saying in skin of breast and maybe in chest, argh. Though think ct thought the chest bit was lung scarring from covid.

BasiliskStare · 17/12/2021 02:49

All best wishes @silkieschickens - my thoughts are with you.

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 02:54

Sorry my news of watering the Christmas tree made you cry ZZ Xmas Wink

I think Death was just quoting me, unless she feels exactly the same about her DH.

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 02:56

Thanks Basilik, they asked me today which breast they should cut off, really hope dont wake to wrong one off. I am wrong person to ask as well as cannot tell left from right. But we both agreed the right side. Xmas Smile

MintJulia · 17/12/2021 03:17

Good luck tomorrow @silkieschickens.

I'm a few weeks ahead of you. I bought a wig today ready for mid-January.

I must be one of the few who is pleased with Boris's plan B to wfh. No-one is going to spot my wig on a zoom call Smile. And as it's winter, it will keep my head warm. Add it to the mask keeping my face warm Grin

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 03:26

Thanks MintJulia and all the best for your treatment. I also just wfh and at least has savings so no pressure to work. The Australian professor I work for loves video calls which I woukd prefer not with 1 breast chopped off and no hair if they put me on chemo but I will just put a koala onesie on with hood up if he keeps trying. Xmas Wink

mathanxiety · 17/12/2021 03:33

Thinking of you and your family, Silkies.

The storm is now over and I'm happy to say my work on the deck paid off. There were sirens up and down the street outside all night, but no big branches down or local power cuts.

mathanxiety · 17/12/2021 03:34

Best wishes to you too, MintJulia

Moneypennysfreedomfund · 17/12/2021 03:59

My spaniel is now so used to having me put drops in his pendulous ears he just sits nicely ( if unhappily) and lets me put the drops in, complete turnaround from when he was a puppy and would hide/ run away as soon as he saw the bottle and then sulk with me for weeks and not let me stroke his silky head….

I have pruned a large tree which has dropped flower debris all over my deck, chopped up the branches and bagged them for kindling, the larger branches will be cut up for firewood when I ask my kind neighbour ( too frightened to use a chainsaw) and scrubbed the back deck to within an inch of its life. Dogs unimpressed that their back deck basket has been moved to a shadier spot, at least their outside water bowl will not get as much tree debris in it! They must have somewhere comfortable to sit/ sprawl/ snooze when nosing at what their humans are doing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/12/2021 06:03

I still have my wig... The best hair I ever had!!!!!!

Silkie and Mint Flowers

Lemonsandlemonade · 17/12/2021 06:25

All the best for today @Silkieschickens 💐

Feeling sick with anxiety about a work issue.

HelenaJustina · 17/12/2021 06:27

With love and prayers for today Silkie

Mint hope you have a peaceful Christmas before treatment resumes Flowers

Silkieschickens · 17/12/2021 07:04

Thanks very much.

Hope you can get work issue sorted Lemons otherwise would look into staying at home or moving jobs, life is too short to spend it worrying about work. Flowers

DoctorTwo · 17/12/2021 09:54

All the best for today Silkies, I hope your husband gets his Xmas wish. To all of you undergoing, or about to undergo treatment, my best wishes to you all.

Car is booked in for Monday, the water pump has gone and needs replacing. My booster jab is next Thursday, not looking forward to it as I have a fear of needles.

Acornsandleaves · 17/12/2021 10:03

Thinking of you today Silkies and best wishes for your treatment MintJulia.

Hope your work issue gets sorted Lemons, it's horrible feeling anxious about work

MissConductUS · 17/12/2021 10:18

Good luck today Silkie! May the surgeon's hand be swift and sure.

I’m very heartened by how supportive this thread is. It’s Mumsnet at its finest. All the very best to Silkie and MintJulia, and everyone on here who could do with some support (I’m sorry your work issue is making you so anxious, Lemons, that’s a horrible feeling to have).

In other, mundane news, I somehow managed to miss a step when coming down the stairs this morning and faceplanted inelegantly right on my nose at the door of DH’s office, with him going ‘Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!’ as I tried to assess the damage.

Amazingly, there was none at all, except to my dignity. If only he’d been filming we could at least have got 250 quid from You’ve Been Framed. Bah Humbug Xmas Angry

Nydj · 17/12/2021 11:48

All the best for today @Silkieschickens. I hope you are keeping well, @MintJulia.

@Lemonsandlemonade, as wise silkies said, if the work issue cannot be resolved do think about changing jobs as work should not make you anxious to the extent of feeling unwell.

I forgot to buy bread on my way back from
My uneventful walk today.
