The Downing Street Party

Sorry if there's another thread, couldn't see one.

ITV have a video scoop of Allegra Stratton laughing and joking about the party that never happened, but definitely did follow Covid rules despite not happening, filmed a few days after the party date.

How many more times does the PM and half the cabinet need to tell barefaced lies before we can get rid of this bunch of absolute arseholes?

@Kendodd

Even fishermen in Cornwall being bankrupted by Tory brexit would still 100% vote for them and Brexit all over again.
I agree but find it utterly mystifying. To me it looks like a form of self-loathing? I mean, it must be, to vote so strongly against your own interests.

Isn't that the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Either the leader needs to change, or the party in leadership does.

cupofdecaf · 08/12/2021 09:13

Aren't there met officers on the gate at Downing Street, and the front door? Surely the security services already have a list of who was in the building when, that's basic stuff.

They know who was there and that the law was broken but apparently it doesn't apply to them.

Yes that information must be freely available. Surely trust in the Met Police has never been lower.

I think we are being manipulated. I am not sure to what end. Maybe the end game is that the Tories want rid of Boris. Maybe it is to ensure that the public mood hardens against the possibility of any further restrictions.

Whatever the intent in this case, leaks happen for a reason.

TheFeistyFeminist · 08/12/2021 09:27

Was the party the day before Boris Johnson went on TV to tell us all that Christmas was cancelled and we couldn't see our families? I'm raging. I always hoped it would be the party that toppled Johnson, now I live in hope it's a Christmas party that topples him!

twinklystar23 · 08/12/2021 09:39
Perhaps they could have this at their Xmas party. We got rid of thatcher, though that now feels like just an unpopular policy. The contempt they have shown for the public is on another level. So have posted this video, while I quietly reminisce ....
KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 09:40

OhRexy your party ( whatever it is) needs to pick up votes across the board. 🤷

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 11:37

Oh god Liz Truss hoves into view

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 11:40

That should be heaves.
Anyway another ponderous response from her.

thecatfromjapan · 08/12/2021 12:52

Catherine West asking about a Party on 13th November. PM on record denying it.

Dominic Cummings now on Twitter contradicting that denial ...

So.much.lying.

I'm not sure that twitter account is the actual DC... heavy with grammatical errors and no blue tick? And only created in January.
AnnPerkins · 08/12/2021 13:16

@TSSDNCOP

The only real surprise and shock is that anyone is surprised and shocked that this truth has emerged. Did anyone actually believe the leaders of our great lockdown compliant nation actually complied with their rules?
You don't have to be surprised and shocked to be furious about it though. It's the predictability of it that is so incredibly infuriating.

I knew Johnson was going to bang on about 'the British public aren't interested, they just want us to this and that... waffle blah blah' in PMQs today but I still got more and more enraged with every stupid word he gibbered Angry

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 13:26

He isn't impressive. I'm not pro any party anymore so I can truly say it's sad.

Obviously I don’t know which specific account you’re looking at, but Cummings’ actual Twitter definitely doesn’t have a blue tick.

SickAndTiredAgain · 08/12/2021 13:56

Dominic2306 is the Twitter account he gives on his blog.

Of course but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit here begging Tory voters. They have a choice each election whether to vote for this horrendous party with such an awful history and reputation.

Ah! I will happily stand corrected then! I wish he would start using "you're" instead of your. It's annoying me 😂
Emerald76360 · 08/12/2021 15:42

Allegra Stratton has resigned!

SpookyScarySkeletons · 08/12/2021 15:52

Not surprised. No way could she have kept her position after that!

Next up Rees-Mogg then off ya go BJ!!! (Unless he does his Teflon impression again)

Cyrilgoggin · 08/12/2021 15:56

If Johnson thinks Allegra Stratton resigning will be enough to make this go away then he's a fool. And she's only resigning because she's got found out. The video shows her laughing at us behind our backs. That's what she really thinks of us.

Emerald76360 · 08/12/2021 16:00

I feel a tiny bit sorry for her that she has taken the brunt of this.. she seems genuinely distressed in her statement

Cyrilgoggin · 08/12/2021 16:03

I've just watched her statement and I did feel very sorry for her. She seemed genuinely upset (and she should be). If those people who were at the alleged party have any decency they should now own up to it and face the consequences, not let her be a fall guy. Then we can move on.

KittenCatcher · 08/12/2021 16:04

I dont feel sorry for her at all. She was silly and everyone in that room knew it was wrong. Hopefully she is only the first of many resignations. I wonder who filmed it and leaked it.

I'm having a weak moment! Grin
