Sorry if there's another thread, couldn't see one.

ITV have a video scoop of Allegra Stratton laughing and joking about the party that never happened, but definitely did follow Covid rules despite not happening, filmed a few days after the party date.

How many more times does the PM and half the cabinet need to tell barefaced lies before we can get rid of this bunch of absolute arseholes?

They were probably at the bloody party with them!!
Did you see the footage of a policemen arresting a medically exempt man for not wearing his mask? One of the policemen had his mask on his chin, bloody hypocrites the lot of them.

@KrispyKale oh really, I hadn’t realised. All that faff for a mere 6 months. I thought she was shite on tv before that anyway. She’s got the air of someone who has had an expensive education and lots of self confidence, with very little independent analytical thinking going on.

Voting Tory doesn't mean you voted for Johnson. I voted for my MP as I thought he was a good constituency MP, even though I thought Johnson was a knob.

Never again. I'm furious at these people and the way they have treated us. I spent Xmas away from family, and my only close family member remaining died this year. I wasn't able to see them. I've never hated anyone in my life but I'm coming pretty close with Johnson. I'm broken by what they've done and them laughing at us.

But @Babybooboodedoo they can't possibly be as much of a waste of space as this lot. I agree that Labour have not galvanised effectively, and I can fully see why people didn't want to vote for Corbyn (though I held my nose and voted for him), but there is no way on earth that any Labour government could be as much of a waste of space as the current incumbents.

But the real bad guy in all this is the twat who has leaked it just as we are hit with a new variant. People are going to say 'fuck off daft cunts, no way I am even going to pretend to follow the rulez cos bojo and co don't'. If further restrictions come in this will lead to a longer lockdown and more deaths fucking up the rest of us. Can't blame anyone for that attitude but it won't help the country, economically or from a deaths point of view.

I really don’t think their replacements would be any better. I really hate lots of things our government has done but French and Italian friends often complain about exactly the same things about their government

I’m afraid I no longer even feel anger at hearing this sort of thing. I just shrug because really it’s not unexpected is it ?

By last Christmas I was sick of listening to them and their lies and simply did what was best for me and my family.

I'm not defending Peston, what I mean is the focus should not be on him. He is not an elected official. If they can't set the standard, why would a journalist?
Peston being there is a red herring and detract from the main story.

Allegra Stratton should at least lose her job. She is inept flailing about like that- so unprofessional! Also laughing about breaking the law when you work for the government and holding the public in contempt, is unforgivable.

And that’s just the start. Many more people need to be sacked over this.

The police? Given the party was in No 10, the police were presumably at the gates letting people in/out.

I appreciate that if it happened after work, it wouldn’t have been clear when people arrived that there was a party later. But I bet it was clear when they left. I assume whatever entrance/exit you use to No 10 has police at it.

It really feels like they hate us. It is such an “us” and “them” situation right now in this country. It also feels like we are on a dangerous, slippery slope and it’s clear to see why we are viewed as one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

What has really got to me in all of this, is that in the last couple of days the government gaslighted so well that even I (a great Tory cynic) began to question whether the journalists had made a mistake somewhere with this party. Evidently not. And if I can almost be fooled, then Tory voters will be blind.

There is also a breaking story that Gavin Williamson hosted a staff Christmas party in the Education dept cafe at the same time, with staff having wine and canapés.

I think that would be a reasonable point if he’d said he was there. As it is, if it turns out he was there after days of reporting on the speculation, and the lying, it would look pretty poor. Same for Laura K, her article calling it an “alleged” event, and discussing the various consequences of the lying and how bad it looks for all involved is pretty brazen if she was actually there.

I agree. Even with Corbyn in charge and, no, I didn't vote for them.
I'm 50 and can't remember or have heard of a worse UK government or PM and they've inflicted irreparable damage to the country. Oh but Johnson was funny on HIGNFY .
Shame on anyone who voted for them.
