The Downing Street Party

Sorry if there's another thread, couldn't see one.

ITV have a video scoop of Allegra Stratton laughing and joking about the party that never happened, but definitely did follow Covid rules despite not happening, filmed a few days after the party date.

How many more times does the PM and half the cabinet need to tell barefaced lies before we can get rid of this bunch of absolute arseholes?

@Roominmyhouse

They show nothing but contempt for the people of this country, yet people defend them and still vote for them.
I have voted conservative all my life and I swear to God I will never vote for them again. I am fuming.

As for Laura K and Robert P always at the press conferences asking Boris when we will be locked down again, why are the rules not going further and all the while they were fucking partying with the bastard.

Poetrypatty · 07/12/2021 20:52

The worst bit, even worse than the party itself for me, is the joking and contempt shown, from that mega expensive Downing St tv studio with the big flags behind her.

It makes me annoyed but I can't imagine how people with hospitality business which went under because of Christmas having to be cancelled, relatives who they couldn't see and worst of all relatives who died during that period must feel. It's not just about bending the rules/laws but about complete contempt for the public who voted them in and how it's all turned into a big laugh.

PurpleDaisies · 07/12/2021 20:52

PMQs is going to be great fun for Boris tomorrow…

Total contempt for the voting public. They think they're above the law. Am disgusted but not surprised.

KrispyKale · 07/12/2021 20:53

Truly abysmal.

redpheasant · 07/12/2021 20:54

Can any conservative voter really defend them as a good prospect to vote for again?

What’s the source of this?

Babybooboodedoo · 07/12/2021 20:55

I’m so angry about this. Seething.

Personally I’ve experienced....

  • Family member in hospital with no visitors.
  • Looking after my sick child in hospital - couldn’t take a break as only allowed 1 carer.
  • Sitting outside in the freezing cold to see family.

Get to the far side of fuck, the lot of them.

How can they get away with this?!

shreddies · 07/12/2021 20:55

It's beyond awful.

Plus I'm wtf at Allegra Stratton. Giggling nincompoop completely out of her depth. Jesus wept.

justaskingagain · 07/12/2021 20:56

Rees-Mogg has been doing something similar. I think this was last night but I'm not certain. His vile, smug attitude and his arrogance as he clearly feels he is above the law make me 🤮

Apparently still saying there was no party.

Just WTAF.

I really don’t think their replacements would be any better. I really hate lots of things our government has done but French and Italian friends often complain about exactly the same things about their government

I think it’s just a rumour, I’m not sure of the initial source. It’s certainly not anything close to confirmed.
justaskingagain · 07/12/2021 21:01

Yet it was clearly premeditated with Secret Santa!

Howshouldibehave · 07/12/2021 21:02

It’s just appalling.

It does make me wonder who has leaked it now, all those months later, though?

If Johnson and his gang of liars is going to have to spend tomorrow’s PMQT and all other interviews this week talking about parties they may or may not have had that did or did not break any laws, what are they hiding and NOT talking about which is more important… ?

Will anyone who was there fess up? Unlikely as the country will tear them to bits and the press/government will despise them. How can we get concrete evidence about who was there, that they can’t wriggle/lie/distract their way out of?

GertrudeBElion · 07/12/2021 21:02

Whenever we hear about this set of vile bastards disregarding the rules (and it's depressingly regular) I can't help but think of the 13 year old boy Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, who died in hospital without any of his family there because of the Covid restrictions, and I could spit on the lot of them.

There is no source because of course it never happened 🙉🙈🙊
User135644 · 07/12/2021 21:03

@JockTamsonsBairns

We get what we vote for

How is this helpful? I'm nearly 50 and have been voting since I was 18. In every single election/referendum (bar one, in 1997) I have never got what I voted for.

And neither have I. As a country we get what we vote for.
MarbleQueen · 07/12/2021 21:04

It's not just about bending the rules/laws but about complete contempt for the public who voted them in and how it's all turned into a big laugh

It’s much more than that and I suspect we all know what it is.

These are the people who attended the cobra meetings, who instructed the nhs to cancel millions of operations and to ban visitors to care homes. They ordered the blanket Dnrs on our elderly folk and the news was filled with daily deaths and cases. We were repeatedly told we should be really afraid. Don’t kill granny.

And yet they were not afraid. Not afraid at all. Along with parties they were travelling to holiday homes and shagging their affair partners. A quick google of mps who broke the rules shows how just many of them weren’t afraid at all.

They clearly knew something we didn’t.

I’m done with it. Something is very very wrong and it needs acknowledging.

We need to talk about why they weren’t scared.

Poetrypatty · 07/12/2021 21:06

My cat would do better. I just don't know how anyone could do any worse, it's really bad.

PurpleDaisies · 07/12/2021 21:07

Well obviously. Grin

You know what I mean though-where have you read they were there?

KrispyKale · 07/12/2021 21:08

Marble Queen that is a fair point.

Kendodd · 07/12/2021 21:08

Where's Clavinova?

MotherofPearl · 07/12/2021 21:09

@redpheasant

I'm not surprised either. They are so unfailingly disappointing. So consistently devoid of any morals, good character or integrity. I almost care less about the rule breaking than I do about the detestable, almost child-like inability to tell the truth. Compulsive lying is one of the worst character traits, and they all seem to share it!
This is absolutely spot on.

I can't decide who I loathe more: this repulsive, venal government, or the people who voted them in (and astoundingly, continue to support them).

OverByYer · 07/12/2021 21:12

I am so fed up of feeling anger towards this government and impotent as unable to do anything about them.
From Cummings, to the holidays , the corruption, the Afghan cock up, Nazari Ratcliffe, the list is endless and still they remain with that idiot at the helm. I despise the lot of them.

I've been a flip-flop voter but am proud to say I did not vote for this shit shower.
