There are two mysteries about Epstein which I think are not mysteries, but people are not willing to say it out loud.

1. How did he make his vast fortune? He came from a very modest background and it was difficult to tell exactly where his money came from.

The answer=the billionaire Les Wexner (founder of Victoria's Secret and other companies) mysteriously trusted JE with his finances and mysteriously made him very rich. Les Wexner was gay, but not out of the closet. You can draw your own conclusions

1. How did JE continue making vast sums of money?

Answer= He was able to procure girls and he spent a lot of time with rich and powerful people. He had recording equipment on his premises.

It seems obvious to me that both JE and GM were running a blackmail operation.

Totally agree. I remember reading an article about his NY mansion. Every single room had cameras all feeding back to a central hub. This room had 20+ screens and staff monitoring all that was happening. You can't tell me that footage was not used for nefarious means. To blackmail, to sell on, to share... all of it.

And how Ghislaine can say she knew nothing about this beats me

Other rumours around his fortune are equally shady - money from the towers financial ponzi scheme is unaccounted for.

I'm not sure if Epstein killed himself either. On the one hand, maybe he could have struck a deal, by agreeing to drop some surprise big names in the shit. But those he could have named, got him first.

On the other hand, maybe he really didn't have any cards left to play, knew he would have a shit time in prison for the rest of his life, and chose to go on his own terms (as opposed to being brutally attacked or murdered in jail).

I've veered from thinking he definitely did not commit suicide, to thinking he did.

I actually now think he probably did and the fact footage was missing, the guards weren't doing their job etc... was irrelevant. I think it was just sloppy management of the prison which is why GM is checked continually all night because they cannot let this happen again.

I think he'd lived such a life of out of this world luxury that he knew he'd be in jail forever and couldn't handle it.

Epstein was found with marks on his neck one day, in jail before his death. There was an investigation, to see if he was attacked, or tried to commit suicide.

His cell mate, insists Epstein tried to kill himself, but he interveened, and there should have been CCTV showing all this, but it disappeared.

Agree there’s a huge lack of coverage in the UK. Seems much more content from the states xo

Following with interest. I met GM when she was at Oxford and have also met other members of her family.

I'm an ex-journalist and don't think there is anyone holding back on news coverage. It's as I would expect on the news sources I usually follow - Guardian & BBC. Trials are long and slow and quite tedious and there won't be that much happening on a day to day basis.

Also the competing news agenda has been quite intense.

What fascinates me (trivially) is whether she has had access to hair dye in jail. Hard to tell from the drawings.

In some US states trials are televised. Unfortunately not this one.

OJ Simpson was, and Jeffrey Dahmer (grim serial killer).

I think its because its a federal trial that its not televised.

Its not the main point at all but I would love to know what the fuck the parents of some of these children thought they were doing. A millionaire playboy wants to take your daughter off to his holiday home/island/luxury apartment and you don't wonder why?

I am interested in this. Not because of Prince Andrew. Because of the Maxwell name. My dad worked for Robert Maxwell and at the age of 60 lost his entire pension. He had to make up a lifetimes pension contributions in 5 years. He did it but it had a massive impact on his health. He spent the years he should have been slowing down and looking forward retirement working his socks off. Unsociable hours, living out of a suitcase in a grotty hotel 300 miles away from his family for 6 days out of 7. In his 60's sat on the floor of a packed train from London to Manchester just to get home to my mum for one night. I blame the Maxwell family (and that includes Ghislaine) for this. My dad died 6 months after the day he retired Bastards the lot of them.

Until recently when one of the brothers spoke up for her, and reminded me, I had put to the back of my mind the questioning of the two brothers by Frank Field. It was on TV news. It was all to do with the pensions and the clever little whotsits refused to answer every question.

These were vulnerable kids. Poor, desperate, parents thinking they'd struck lucky.
They trawled trailer parks, schools, camps etc.

But what did they say to them? Adults dont usually hang out with 14 year olds for the sparkling repartee or because of shared interests. Where their parents selling them, poor kids?
