Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@AllThingsServeTheBeam

Do we really honestly need another dog bashing thread. It isn't the dogs it is the twatty owners that are the problem. We all know this and threads like this are done to bloody death
It was the dog shit in bins thread today that finally prompted me to post this - as so many mumsnetters seemed to think it was ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin clearly we might actually need another fucking thread about it.

I'm on Mumsnet a LOT and actually don't see that many dog hating posts but that might be because I don't click on them much.

There is definitely an increasing number of owners who don't have the patience or skill to train their dog properly. A well trained dog with an owner who cleans up is fine.
But a badly trained dog is a fecking nightmare for the rest of us.

imamearcat · 17/11/2021 21:26

Funny because not being a dog hater and ive literally never had a dog jump up while running and scratch me / rip my clothes. Must be really naughty dogs where you live?Hmm

NursieBernard · 17/11/2021 21:26

I like dogs, have owned 2 in the past, but I also hate all the things you have mentioned. I also can't stand all the infantilising and humanisation of dogs. The inability of some dog owners to see (admit) how annoying dogs and the things associated with them can be is infuriating.

Brownpigeon · 17/11/2021 21:27

I'm a dog owner. Agree with you though.

My dog is a twat. He's scared of lots of things so can react in what seems an aggressive way. We are having training, I keep him on lead and make him sit if there's a passerby so he can't lunge / jump / whatever.

It's mainly all men he hates. Apart from my ex husband, he bloody loves him. So he has awful judgement of character, as well as being a twat.

XenoBitch · 17/11/2021 21:27

@Feelingofftoday

I do refer to my dog as my fur baby. So what? How does it harm you?

It harms me by making me feel like this:
🤮🤮🤮

Well, maybe get some help for such an extreme reaction to words.
YoComoManzanas · 17/11/2021 21:27

I quite like dogs. Trying to convince dh we should get one. But do find badly owned dogs annoying.
Another annoyance while out jogging is when the owner steps to the opposite side of the track to their dog which guarantees the dog crossing in front of me to get back to the side of the owner. Just why?

PufferFishGoneWrong · 17/11/2021 21:28

@userxx

I love dogs and would happily let someone put a bag of dogshit in my bin, better then leaving it on the pavement.
Some fucker put their dog shit in our garden waste bin, multiple times or lets their dog shit on our drive or path.

No it's not ok to use any of my bins, take it home to your own bin or a public bin. If I want dog shit on my property I'll get my own dog.

CatalinaCasesolver · 17/11/2021 21:28

Im with you OP, dogs suck and they're bloody everywhere.

Honeymint · 17/11/2021 21:29

It’s definitely a problem with bad owners!
I used to have the same problem walking the family dog when I was younger - untrained dogs would run over. My dog got attacked twice, a dog once started to wee on me while growling at my dog, the owner and his friend just laughed and walked on.

I understand it sucks to be allergic, but if these dogs were properly trained I don’t think it would be a problem.

So I think YANBU but it’s the people not the dogs.

Feelingofftoday · 17/11/2021 21:29

@Lightisnotwhite

It’s an animal. It shares the planet like all the others messy, dangerous, noisy animals. Living in a human dominated, sanitised town is hardly good for the planet is it ( look at what birds we all have pigeons, crows and magpies isn’t it). Hope the flipping badgers trip you over on your next narcissist run in the outdoors.
They're overbred There are too many of them People are too sentimental about them
BurscoughBooths · 17/11/2021 21:29

@Moonface88

People who don't like dogs are the same people who don't like roller coasters or scary movies and think black pepper is too spicy. Vanilla people. Bore off.
I don’t like dogs (or roller coasters tbh) but I love black pepper and spicy food. I’m not vanilla, I just prefer cats

To be fair neither have I, though I've had the odd one chase me.

Posters on MN do tend to exaggerate - like all the virus shedding joggers who apparently breathed all over MNers every time they went out in lockdown. I've never had a "jogger" breathe all over me, during lockdown or otherwise.

However it doesn't get away from the fact that dogs are being imposed everywhere.

Hummingbirdcake · 17/11/2021 21:30

YANBU. I love dogs but there are so many crappy entitled arsehole owners around.

Anonymous48 · 17/11/2021 21:30

I think it would be a lot more tolerable if dog owners always cleared up their waste, kept them on a lead when in public, and didn't take them into pubs and restaurants. I have nothing against dogs and I know people love them like members of their family but they are not people.

whatwasIgoingtosay · 17/11/2021 21:31

I am so sick of my neighbour's dogs, who spend all day every day in MY GARDEN barking incessantly. We dare not complain, for various reasons. Angry

I'm in multiple FB running groups and I assure you it's a problem - it happens to loads of people

@Dogscanteatonions

I actually grew up with working dogs...I used to love dogs and the only thing that stopped me getting a dog was my working life not being suitable to owning one.

Over the last 5 years or so my feelings have changed to this position. Yes I know it's bad owners but it's bloody overwhelming.

This OP, the constant bloody yapping and people being incapable of going anywhere without taking the bloomin things with them 🙄🤦‍♀️
lololololollll · 17/11/2021 21:31

Set some fireworks off, they hate that

Dogs are allowed off in public if under control if there is not restrictions against it. But to be able to do that the dogs should have perfect recall. And it is up to the owner of the business regarding pubs and other places.
Boshmama · 17/11/2021 21:35

Yabu- you’ve not been ‘very lucky’ not to have been bitten. Most dogs don’t bloody bite people so you’ve just been ‘very average’

Colin56 · 17/11/2021 21:35

I think the main issue is that the UK has mostly dogs off lead that are not socialised. In France its against the law to have dogs off lead so its generally a pleasure here. UK mainly is full of badly behaved dogs I find.

Hummingbirdcake · 17/11/2021 21:35

So many dog owners seem unable to grasp that not everyone feels the way they do about their pet. I am not afraid of dogs but I don’t want them jumping up at me or my DC. I don’t think that makes me a horrible miserable person. And yet I’ve had a dog owner look really offended when I’ve politely asked them to stop their dog jumping up at me when I was carrying a baby in a sling in a public square that had No Dogs signs on all the gates!

Blue4YOU · 17/11/2021 21:35

I’m pretty sick of people thinking they own the planet and nothing and no one should disturb them or walk in front of them or have a different agenda or pace or way of parenting or living and obsess about small irritants like over excited dogs.
We share a world. Sure dog owners should pick up dog shit.
Excessive barking should be dealt with.
Dogs on leads in parks etc
But if you live in a place where there are people there will always be cars and dogs and whatever else that has as much say in how the world is when it comes to breaking the rules (you know the ones dogs don’t know about)..

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 21:37

I've had dogs for 40 years. I've never seen them "jump all over' someone, shit everywhere, slobber, steal food in restaurants, bark incessantly. A lot of mumsnetters are over dramatic and totally neurotic.
