Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

I remember going for a walk with DS in the buggy and meeting snarly labrador trying to jump on the buggy.According to the owner he’s never seen the buggy before...

Most people just want to have their personal space respected and not being invaded by anybody including dogs.

Why is it seen by some dog owners as unreasonable request? Why do they think their dog jumping up seems to be oh such a nice experience because “he’s only just being friendly”? And you’re apparently the mean cow daring to challenge that?

Like a said upthread my child has a scar on his nose from when he hit the pavement at toddler’s age when knocked over by a “friendly dog” a few times heavier than him.

No fucks given by the owner when I lifted my crying son with blood on the face and the dog still circling around us.

Why the dog owners don’t want to understand that their loose jumpy dog might cause somebody’s injury? I’m not talking only about my son but also elderly people who might end up with fractured hip/pelvis leading operation, months of recovery and sometimes decline in health.

These might be the consequences of the “friendly” dogs not being trained/being under control.

And I say that as the former dog owner.

There is a difference between friendly dog approaching at calm pace wagging the tail ( hello) and bouncy ball of energy knocking everything over with zero recall and ignorant entitled owner.

Kikkomam · 23/11/2021 15:16

@Trixiefirecracker

It’s still shows bad ownership if you are letting your dog jump up at people. That’s not acceptable so please stop minimising it,
Yes, could be a one off mistake, could be a shit owner. I've said it's a pain in the arse and obviously if the dog is aggressive or you are scared of dogs it can be frightening. Other than that I'm not sure what you want me to say.
Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 23/11/2021 15:36

People are allowed to hate dogs. Even the nice ones.

I can't stand them. If they all disappeared tomorrow the world would be a better place.

sausagechops66 · 23/11/2021 15:37

@Alonelonelylonersbadidea you're absolutely entitled to your opinion but stating said opinion as if it's a fact - the world would be a better place without them - just makes you look silly.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 23/11/2021 15:44

I'm with you op . I don't understand why people need to have animals in their houses

This. The world wouldn’t be a better place for me without dogs although it may be for you. It’s opinion, not fact. My life is much better for having dogs in it. 🐶 🐾

GodIsAVegan · 23/11/2021 15:53

Because I love animals and they’re part of my family. They make me feel happier and I want to look after them and give them a happy life. You don’t really have to understand, just accept that others are different to you.

You have the choice to not have animals in your house and it is of course fine not to want an animal yourself or have them come into your house with visitors.

sausagechops66 · 23/11/2021 16:23

@GodIsAVegan this is the problem with so many people on this thread and in life in general. They just cannot comprehend anything that differs to their own narrow minded views. Hence threads like this.

As pp said you don't need to understand. You don't need to like dogs. You just need to accept that you live on a diverse planet with many people who will think, act and live differently to you.

I do understand the annoyance of people who don't want strangers dogs jumping all over them. It's incredibly annoying and anti social.

If I didn't have my dog, I would be dead. She gives me purpose and a reason to keep going.

I don't understand how people don't realise people have different opinions and live their lives differently to them.

In your opinion. The world would be an awful lot worse for a lot of people without dogs in it.
Hen2018 · 23/11/2021 17:06

I don’t dislike dogs but I’ve long through they’re totally unsuitable as pets.

They’re pack animals and need other dogs company and to be running around outside.

Instead, they’re expected to act more like humans and get dragged round on leads. They must be so lonely.

Hen2018 · 23/11/2021 17:09

@Kikkomam

Imagine if people stopped taking their dogs to dog friendly cafes and pubs because someone on Mumsnet said they shouldn't, 😁😁
Shhh, I’m still imagining.

It would be absolutely fucking marvellous.

Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years. Pet dogs are not like wild ones or wolves.

ODFOgrinch · 23/11/2021 17:28

I don't mind dogs generally. I do have an issue with the fact that my neighbours bought 2 very barky dogs over lockdown. They have a very long garden which backs onto our quite short one. Between 6.20 and 6.30 each morning the dogs come out for their early morning tinkle, which involves tearing down the garden barking joyously until they are within the 10m of my bedroom window, continue barking at each other until they are hoarse (up to 40 minutes) or until they get bored and go back in. It has been over a year since I have slept until my alarm goes off at 7. Bastards.

FreshFreesias · 23/11/2021 18:07

@FrenchBoule At “snarly Labrador” I realised that your experience should be filed under “things that never happened” 🤣

Why is that funny or inconceivable …because actually Labs, according to statistics, are the worst dogs for biting and responsible for the most injury claims…

It's funny because the majority of labs are psychopathically friendly.

Trixiefirecracker · 23/11/2021 20:40

It’s not funny at all when they bite you. How fucking rude.

Kikkomam · 23/11/2021 20:54

Labradors probably bite the most becuase there are more of them than other breeds. Any dog can bite. I have the world's most soppy lab but my terrier is more likely to growl at you.

PixieLaLa · 23/11/2021 22:38

Gawd this thread is vile, some of things people have said on here they should be ashamed of themselves, but they won’t be because it’s MN and the majority HATE dogs. Angry

Not for those who depend on their assistance dogs to leave the house it wouldn't be.
