Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

I think there has been a big fashion in recent years of switching from them being animals with specific species appropriate needs to an extension/replacement of children

Completely agree with this, it's bizarre

You are not Alone, I hate dogs and their lazy owners who can’t be bothered to pick up their dogs shit

Goldentimes · 17/11/2021 21:06

I'm a massive dog owner but what you've described is horrendous

fourminutestosavetheworld · 17/11/2021 21:06

I love dogs snd have always had them, but the things you describe annoy me too.

Etiquette dictates that, if you see someone approaching without a dog, or with a dog on a lead, you recall your off-lead dog and keep them under close control, but that's a rare occurrence post-lockdown. I'm sick of shit, entitled owners letting their badly trained off-lead dog jump all over my terrified on-lead dog. Just fucking look after them properly.

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 21:06

My dogs have enriched my life. I'm happy to meet any friendly dog tbh.

QuiteQuaint · 17/11/2021 21:06

I’m with ya! 💯 sick of ppl treating a dog like it’s a baby

I mean, I don’t. But I’m intrigued how it affects you to the point of it making you sick? Are you always so dramatic?

Goldentimes · 17/11/2021 21:06

Omg typo!! I'm a massive dog lover not a massive dog owner Grin

TotallySuper · 17/11/2021 21:06

@QuiteQuaint

Exactly! I see people like OP and a few others as the kind of people I am glad not to know in real life.

Me too. My dogs aren’t allowed to do any of the stuff listed in the OP. My dogs are never off lead except on our secure land, I pick up their poo, they don’t get the opportunity to jump or anyone, I bring them in if they bark despite not having any neighbours living close by. I don’t personally take my dogs in pubs etc but take that up with the pub or find another pub.

Haters still gonna hate. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I dont hate on you, its just you're very very much the minority. Most dogs and owners don't behave as you say.
Moonface88 · 17/11/2021 21:07

People who don't like dogs are the same people who don't like roller coasters or scary movies and think black pepper is too spicy. Vanilla people. Bore off.

🤣🤣👌
bigbluebus · 17/11/2021 21:08

I agree dog ownership has got a bit out of hand now and the irresponsible dog owners are far too evident. I am currently visiting a friend's house twice a day and am already sick of being barked at by the 5 dogs caged in a small back yard of a house I have to pass on my journey.
I was reading a review earlier for a Cathedral I'm visiting next week. Two of the reviews were complaining that they don't allow dogs into the Cathedral (assistance dogs excepted). Why do people expect to be able to take their dogs absolutely everywhere these days. When I was a child very few people had dogs but those that did wouldn't dream of taking them shopping/to a cafe. Dogs weren't allowed in so the dog stayed at home.

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 21:08

I actually grew up with working dogs...I used to love dogs and the only thing that stopped me getting a dog was my working life not being suitable to owning one.

Over the last 5 years or so my feelings have changed to this position. Yes I know it's bad owners but it's bloody overwhelming.

I'm glad the dog haters of MN don't live here - most of the shops have a shop dog and provide water, free dog biscuits and huge amounts of fuss

Free dog biscuits? My dogs would never want to leave. 🤣

MintyGreenDream · 17/11/2021 21:08

Dogs are amazing.Stop being doggist.

Moonface123 · 17/11/2021 21:10

l love nothing more than to see a dog run wild and free.
l am so glad l cannot relate to all the dog haters on here, having a dog in your life is a guaranteed life long love affair.

Pawprintpaper · 17/11/2021 21:10

Yanbu and I have a dog.

I also don’t understand the take your dog everywhere brigade (a friend moaned she couldn’t take her large dog for an evening meal at a large chain pub) her dog is nice but will occasionally bark, snaffle food and get under people’s feet. I work with animals, have dogs, but like indoor human places to be humans and guide dogs only.

Feelingofftoday · 17/11/2021 21:10

@Kikkomam

Splitting hairs? No, dogs really can't pick up their own shit.
Result is the same
Mojoj · 17/11/2021 21:11

It's poorly trained owners that are the problem. I totally get that not everyone will be lucky enough to experience the bliss of dog ownership ( clearly I have a much beloved pooch😂😂). Sadly lockdown has encouraged lots of people to get dogs who have no idea how to train them or act responsibly. But it's not the dogs' fault....

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 21:14

@Nyxly

How big were these 6 dogs that you had to 'clamber' over?

You sure they weren't horses?

Two labs, a Dalmatian and 3 mixed breeds as I recall in a rather small pub with not much room between tables. Oh and two of them started fighting.

This is one of the reasons I run very early in the morning. I do see dog walkers, but it’s always the responsible ones (crappy owners tend not to walk their dogs at 5am) and I’ve never had an issue. Take the same route 4 hours later and it’s carnage. The number of dogs has done crazy in the past 18 months. I do see more dog poo than before but not an excessive amount, although the street cleaning is efficient and daily around us as it’s a very busy area for recreation.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I guess we’ll have to live with it at least for the next 10-15 years! I love dogs and my family have trained gun dogs so I’m no stranger to them, but a trained working dog is a pleasure to be around compared to an I’ll trained pet.

DroopyClematis · 17/11/2021 21:15

I regularly walk along a river path , frequented by many dog walkers, and see hardly any poos. Maybe we're a bit more fastidious here but my actual beef is with the owners of little cavashitpoodliedoodlies who have spent zero hours training their highly strung, highly energetic and very vocal and snarly charges that just want to rip your ankles off!

I love dogs, have one myself, but these bloody over anxious snappy and over mothered /fussed yappy mongrels piss me off, also pissing my trained dog off too.

And why the extendable leads??? The owners don't even reel the bloody things in either!

Namechangeforthis88 · 17/11/2021 21:16

Oh, the long leads. On busy pavements or in busy parks. Owner chatting away to their pal, no idea what the dog's doing, usually the dog walker takes them out. Don't you worry, we'll all work round you.

ColinTheKoala · 17/11/2021 21:16

@QuiteQuaint

People take dogs in JL?

Apparently JL allow any dog in their stores, as long as they’re on a lead or held. JL do some quite questionable things though, I mean, look at that advert. 😬

People take their dogs everywhere, you don't have to be the producer of dodgy adverts ;) Crew Clothing, my local garden centre, my work office, and various cafes spring to mind.

I would also prefer to live in a dog-free world, although I realise that some guide and assistance dogs are absolutely essential for their owners' quality of life.
