Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

Dog owner here and the lack of responsibility others take boils my piss.

I pick up abandoned bags of poo and pick up other dog's crap on my walks with mine. I'm like a dog shit womble because it drives me crazy. It's NOT HARD to pick up.

It's NOT HARD to go to training classes and spend time training your dog.

WinterRoses2021 · 17/11/2021 21:38

This thread is depressing. I couldn’t go out without my dog and would have little quality of life if he wasn’t here. I think half the people on this thread must be the ones booting him out of the way when I dare to take a train or barging past us on escalators. I wouldn’t be able to live a semi normal life without him!

Anonymous48 · 17/11/2021 21:39

@AllThingsServeTheBeam

I wasn't stating what the laws were. Just how I wish the world worked.

Although where I live dogs aren't allowed off the leash unless in a specifically designated area, and they are not allowed into restaurants (except for service dogs).

Feelingofftoday · 17/11/2021 21:39

@Kikkomam

I've had dogs for 40 years. I've never seen them "jump all over' someone, shit everywhere, slobber, steal food in restaurants, bark incessantly. A lot of mumsnetters are over dramatic and totally neurotic.
Well I've seen and experienced all of these things personally, except perhaps the stealing food in a restaurant.

@Moonface88

People who don't like dogs are the same people who don't like roller coasters or scary movies and think black pepper is too spicy. Vanilla people. Bore off.
You need to expand your horizons a bit if you really think that.
Purpleberet · 17/11/2021 21:40

I love dogs and have one myself, but lots of the things you mention annoy me too. And i really do sympathise with people who actively dislike or are scared of dogs, especially given that so many places are dog friendly nowadays. Of course it’s great for me as a dog owner but I’m very aware that not everyone cares for my dog as much as I do (much like children really ha)
I also think the rise in dog friendly places has helped make it easier for people to fit dogs into their lifestyle. With that means an increase in irresponsible dog owners who can’t be arsed even attempting to train them.

It can be really hard work. I don’t think it’s that lots of people who get dogs underestimate how much work it is, more that they are selfish and totally ignorant to it.

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 21:40

I went to a training class once. It was a waste of money and totally stupid. I don't need to keep mine on a lead as they come quickly when called although I will put the grumpy terrier on a lead as he will go apeshit if another dog growls at him. I kick poo into the hedge. No need for plastic. My terrier is on my lap now, fast asleep and snoring a bit. Love him.

Yes because liking dogs makes you really edgy and different. What a weird comment Confused
Feelingofftoday · 17/11/2021 21:43

Gross
And dangerous

mildredhubble48 · 17/11/2021 21:45

@Blue4YOU your post wins the day.

Such a lack of tolerance for other humans and creatures. People think they own the planet and are so entitled that they would literally rather see a species go extinct than be mildly inconvenienced by them (people actually suggested this on a recent cat bashing thread).

If dogs, cats, cars, noise, people, different lifestyles, different choices etc annoy you then move out of a community. Go live in isolation. You have no more right to the planet than anyone else. Yes people should control their animals and modify their behaviour so that it doesn't cause distress to others, that's just being a decent human.

Hummingbirdcake · 17/11/2021 21:45

I also had the owner of a huge dog, off its lead, take the piss out of my four year old for stepping out of the dog’s way in a park. Literally this person said ‘Oh no! It’s a dog!’ in a sneery voice. The dog’s massive teeth were level with my kid’s face. Arsehole.

Neither. Recommended by the forestry commission actually.

Bloody sick of having to navigate the kids through piles of dog shite on the way to and from school every day. And now it's autumn it's hidden in fallen leaves and not visible in the dark so more chance of one of us walking in it. A dog tax might focus people's minds and get them to clear up after themselves - the revenue could be spent on hosing down the fecking pavements every day.

🤣 you’re ridiculous. This really made me laugh, thank you.
itsacat · 17/11/2021 21:47

Dogs are annoying, a responsible owner with a trained dog is just about tolerable.

videovixen · 17/11/2021 21:48

when I say I don't like dogs people look at me like I've just killed someone

This!!! Even within this thread people are acting like it's the end of the world cos someone has says she can't stand dogs. It's not that deep at all

Not sure how a dog tax would focus people's minds and make them pick their dog shit up. I mean, there are already fines for people not picking it up anyway.
FGSWhatNow · 17/11/2021 21:49

And don't get me started on the fuckwit who let his dog jump up into my then 1 year-old's pushchair as I was walking along minding my own business - and then he had the gall to call me a "fucking bitch" when I shouted at him to get it off and stop it barking in my child's face. Angry

Sarahlou63 · 17/11/2021 21:50

Perhaps you need to rethink your career at Battersea.

QuiteQuaint · 17/11/2021 21:50

Now imagine if I let my kids jump on people and told them: “they’re only little and want to play!”

My experience of soft play centres and parks were like this, not jumping on adults, but kids left to their own devices and bothering my kids cos the parent was chatting/drinking coffee. Again, it’s the adult humans that are crap.

dottymac · 17/11/2021 21:50

An unleashed dog (with no owner in sight) harassed me and my kids in the forest the other day, even jumping up and grabbing an apple out of my oldests hand. They were both terrified. Cnty dog and cunty owner. 😖

ELM8 · 17/11/2021 21:51

Totally agree

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 21:51

I do think some dog haters are a bit pathetic, but agree some dogs can be aggressive and that's no fun for anyone. I couldn't care less if people hate dogs, that's up to them.

Phrowzunn · 17/11/2021 21:51

Dogs are like children - lots of them are lovely, loads of them are awful. And it’s almost always to do with how well their owners (parents) have trained them.

funinthesun19 · 17/11/2021 21:51

This 100%.

And I can’t stand airy fairy owners (and their dogs of course), who tell everyone their dog is friendly.
