Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

If it jumped over the gate to get at your chickens then yes, very naughty and I would have said something to the owner.

Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 09:38

A designated road isn't a public road. It's a road that the council have designated as a road where you must keep your dog on the lead. It will have signs. I agree it is sensible to keep your dog on a lead on a pavement next to a road.

Trixiefirecracker · 22/11/2021 11:41

@Kikkomam it’s a public road. The dog should be in a lead or at the very least under close control. Surely you can see that? Why are you continuously making excuses for owners irresponsible behaviour? Never mind the fact it just shat in my lawn!!!

Just wondered how it got in?

kindlyensure · 22/11/2021 13:04

I am done with any kind of anti-social behaviour, e.g.:

jumpy dogs

blokes saying 'cheer up love it may never happen', (blokes in general tbh),

people letting off fireworks in the middle of the night,

kids screaming in gardens,

student parties,

spitting in the street,

angry drivers,

vapers vaping in my general direction,

joggers coughing and gobbing as they thunder past me,

electric scooters on the pavement .....

I could go on.

But yeah, I totally agree about the carbon footprint of dogs.

So irresponsible with their uninsulated kennels and their jetting off on foreign holidays (I bet they don't plant a tree for that, just piss on them) and their reliance on oil-fuelled tech like iPhones....

Trixiefirecracker · 22/11/2021 14:10

@Kikkomam I don’t understand why you are asking this, I’ve answered it. I suggest you go read up on dogs needed to be leashed on roads in the U.K.. It’s all over the internet.

Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 14:51

Ah sorry
I was actually interested as we live on a country lane with lots of dog walkers and unleashed dogs. None have jumped our gate so far. And as I said I'd be annoyed if one did. I'd get a taller gate of you have chickens.

Trixiefirecracker · 22/11/2021 15:34

I’m not getting a taller fucking gate! Jesus. I’m expecting dickheads hold on to their dogs as they are absolutely supposed to. The onus is not on me to stop dogs getting in to my garden, it’s in the owner. If I didn’t have a gate or wall and it came and shat on my front garden would that still be okay? I can’t afford to keep changing my gate because some idiots are irresponsible. It’s just indicative of how crap many dog owners are.

ColinTheKoala · 22/11/2021 15:57

I would have thought it was a good idea to have your dog on a short lead on a busy road to help avoid them being run over. Or getting lost - people seem to lose their dogs all the time - they're always posting in our local FB group about lost dogs (though it is more often cats, which isn't' surprising).

Agree with kindlyensure about anti-social behaviour generally. How about just trying to live your life in a way that does not unduly affect other people in an adverse way. So if you have a dog, keep it under close control and deal with its poo.

ColinTheKoala · 22/11/2021 16:01

Today I was out for a walk and there were four women with their dogs. Two of them on leads, two of them not on leads. One was trying unsuccessfully to grab her off-lead dog, the other one let her dog off lead just as I passed her (obviously she couldn't possibly have waited a few more seconds until I was out of the way). And one of them had a small child in a buggy - why would you let dogs off-lead when a small child is with you?

Stupid dog owners and they'll be the first to cry when one of the dogs bites the baby's face Angry

Eh?
espressoplease · 22/11/2021 16:56

I could have written this! Can't bloody stand them. My neighbours dogs piss me off barking all the time. My families dogs jump all over my daughter, lick her (gross), nibble her (just playing apparently so it couldn't possibly hurt her?!) and I get treated like Satan for not liking it. I hate people who treat their dogs as if they're humans and get offended when you don't want to go near it. It's a f...king dog. Also sick of having to look out for dog s..t whenever I go walking with my daughter. And don't even get me started on people who bring dogs into parks.

I FEEL YOU X

RainbowsAndSequins · 22/11/2021 16:57

If I could ban dogs, I would. They are a nuisance. They are an environmental disaster. They contribute to the suffering and deaths of billions of animals. They stink. If you have a dog, your house stinks. So unhygienic. I wish people would stop letting themselves get brainwashed by all the dog-propaganda. Dog worship is at insane levels. I am sick of them. Why are people taking them into shops now??? Revolting.

vickyp0llard · 22/11/2021 17:01

It's probably pity rather than horror, tbh, or would be from me anyway.

Wow, so you pity anyone that doesn't think the same as you, and that doesn't like the same things you do? Maybe I should pity anyone that doesn't like dance music or the colour yellow, because after all, those things bring joy to MY life so other people must be missing out by not liking them. No, the world doesn't work like that - people all like different things. What a ridiculous attitude.

I agree - my friends got a puppy who shit on the floor, then walked through it's own shit, all over their carpet. They didn't seem that bothered! Or people who let random dogs lick them - that dog was probably licking another dog's arse 5 minutes ago...

Well said.
vickyp0llard · 22/11/2021 18:49

I am also confused when people are vegan for animal welfare/environmental reasons, but then get a pet dog that is fed on factory-farmed meat...

Iagreewithall · 22/11/2021 18:57

YANBU!!

I completely agree with you. Absolutely fucking sick of dogs. Went out with a running club at the weekend and one of the runners was bitten by a dog. I was held at guard by an aggressive barking dog whilst the owner just stood there calling the dogs name for several minutes but not actually moving their arse to retrieve the dog.

And my kids were terrified of dogs for years, my eldest was bitten by a dog, they have both been chased by dogs several times, held at bay by barking dogs whilst feeble owners feebly call the dogs name but don't actually trouble themselves to retrieve the dog.

I'm sure all of these nice middle class dog owners would call themselves responsible too. Fact is they all think their dogs are lovely and just don't see that they are intimidating to others, their lovely dog is just 'friendly' and 'playing'.

And the dog shit! On the pavements, on the school run. All that shit will be from dogs on leads round here, so the owners know damn well what their dog has done and cannot be arsed to clean it up.

Absolutely sick of dog owners. Would happily make dog ownership illegal.

Phlump · 22/11/2021 19:00

'Absolutely sick of dog owners. Would happily make dog ownership illegal'

This post is getting hysterical.

Maybe read what MNHQ said on this thread.

@HKI83vcWA

Haven’t RTFT but I agree with you OP. And I have a dog (a 40kg lab who has been meticulously trained to know that he is bottom of the pile - outranked by all humans especially children - and must behave properly, as he could easily knock someone over even though he hasn’t a mean bone in his body). I think part of the problem is dog owners attributing human attributes to dogs, and treating them like humans. So now dogs are welcome in restaurants as well as pubs (pubs in the countryside I get, restaurants and cafes in London I don’t), they sleep on beds made for humans and nap on sofas, people dress them up in outfits for Halloween/Christmas/etc and people buy dog chocolate and ice cream. Don’t get me started on people with small yappy dogs on those extending leads which they seem to never bother to retract because I guess they think we all want to greet their snappy dogs and/or trip over them. I hate it and I tend to cross the road now with my dog on a tight leash (as always!) in tow. I could go on. I have overheard people trying to verbally reason with their puppy/dog in the middle of the pavement (“oh don’t you want to go home Tiddles? Shall we stay a little longer then?”). It’s utterly ridiculous. They are fecking dogs FFS. They respond well to authority. It’s how and why we domesticated them in the first place. They are more than happy asleep on the floor by our feet. They don’t need to come to restaurants- how boring it must be when they’d rather be chasing a ball. In short it’s not the dogs that are the problem it’s these completely mad people who have lost all sense of what is appropriate. To be honest I’m more of a cat person anyway (luckily have one of them too). Now cats on the other hand are top of the pile and don’t they just know it!
I think if all dog owners were like you I would not now hate dogs owners and want dogs banned.
Iagreewithall · 22/11/2021 19:07

@Kikkomam

Well I meant knocking over, not attacking, and I don't believe it happens very often at all anyway.
Given the amount of times my kids have been chased by dogs, held at bay by snarling, barking dogs and the fact my eldest was bitten after been chased by a dog, I suspect it happens more often than you realise. Those bites don't make the news but they still happen. I was bitten by a dog as a child too, and have two friends who were bitten as well.
onlychildhamster · 22/11/2021 19:13

I am no dog fan but humans have had pet dogs for centuries. They are here to stay.

All I ask is:

  1. Please keep dog on a lead
  2. Please don't bring dog to hotels/service apartments (i really don't want to hear your chihuahua whine piteously for hours while you go out for dinner- this happened to me at an aparthotel). Rent a cottage or airbnb
  3. Please don't bring dog to cafes/restaurant/pubs.
  4. Please don't bring dog to shops
  5. Please train your dog not to run up to strangers

In the past, pet dogs never went to hotels or restaurants or pubs or cafes and they somehow survived. I don't see why dogs need to go to restaurants or pubs or cafes or Liberty's? Do they spontaneously combust if they are not with you while you are having dinner? Did the dogs of the past have separation anxiety when the farmer went to market or did chores outside the house that did not involve the dog following him around?
