Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

I'm with you op!

@onlychildhamster

I am no dog fan but humans have had pet dogs for centuries. They are here to stay.

All I ask is:

  1. Please keep dog on a lead
  2. Please don't bring dog to hotels/service apartments (i really don't want to hear your chihuahua whine piteously for hours while you go out for dinner- this happened to me at an aparthotel). Rent a cottage or airbnb
  3. Please don't bring dog to cafes/restaurant/pubs.
  4. Please don't bring dog to shops
  5. Please train your dog not to run up to strangers

In the past, pet dogs never went to hotels or restaurants or pubs or cafes and they somehow survived. I don't see why dogs need to go to restaurants or pubs or cafes or Liberty's? Do they spontaneously combust if they are not with you while you are having dinner? Did the dogs of the past have separation anxiety when the farmer went to market or did chores outside the house that did not involve the dog following him around?

If you are on holiday and take your dog with you, you can't leave them in the accommodation when you go to the shops, or go out for a meal.
Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 19:30

My dog loves going to the pub. Of course I'm not going to stop taking him.

I let my dog off and he comes to the pub and places that allow him. I'm not stopping him coming to places that he is allowed to.
Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 19:45

Imagine if people stopped taking their dogs to dog friendly cafes and pubs because someone on Mumsnet said they shouldn't, 😁😁

onlychildhamster · 22/11/2021 19:46

@XenoBitch It doesn't mean people don't do it though. that chihuahua cried for hours.

onlychildhamster · 22/11/2021 19:51

@Kikkomam if the dog barks incessantly in the cafe, whose responsibility is it? A cafe is for humans. Is there a specific animal welfare related reason why the dog has to be in a cafe? Parks, woods, yes they belong there. I can even agree with public transport as many pet owners may not have cars and they would need to bring their pets to a vet. Unless you are a disabled person and require a service dog, I don't see why you need your pet dog in a cafe. You can tell me to go to cafes that don't allow dogs but sadly i live near highgate woods so even the caffe nero in highgate allows dogs now. I fear that due to the current craze with pet dogs, there would be hardly any cafes or pubs that don't allow dogs. If there were only a few niche cafes that allowed dogs, I probably wouldn't mind so much.

Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 19:53

My dog doesn't bark in cafés.

Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 19:54

A cafe is for humans

If its dog friendly then it's for humans AND dogs.

My dog doesn't bark in cafes or pubs. The pub at the weekend is mixed in with walking the dog.

When we go on holiday he comes with us. I am not locking him in our awning.

greendiva · 22/11/2021 19:59

I love dogs, have never been jumped up on and scratched by one running, stop behaving like a weirdo dog magnet... and they'll most likely leave you alone 😬

@AllThingsServeTheBeam I am not saying you shouldn't bring your dog, I am saying that an airbnb or a cottage would be more suitable as its self contained accommodation. The aparthotel that I stayed in was an Adagio aparthotel; it allowed pets but the layout was more like a hotel room which was designed in such a way that it allowed for a kitchen/dining space in each room but like a hotel room, you can hear the sounds of next door quite clearly. You also share a lift lobby/corridors/communal spaces.

It allowed dogs, so dogs are fine.

They're not sneaking them in. Dogs are allowed. And you have said not to take them to places.

Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 21:00

@RainbowsAndSequins

If I could ban dogs, I would. They are a nuisance. They are an environmental disaster. They contribute to the suffering and deaths of billions of animals. They stink. If you have a dog, your house stinks. So unhygienic. I wish people would stop letting themselves get brainwashed by all the dog-propaganda. Dog worship is at insane levels. I am sick of them. Why are people taking them into shops now??? Revolting.
Do you have any idea of how crazy you sound?
Kikkomam · 22/11/2021 21:02

Given the amount of times my kids have been chased by dogs, held at bay by snarling, barking dogs and the fact my eldest was bitten after been chased by a dog, I suspect it happens more often than you realise. Those bites don't make the news but they still happen. I was bitten by a dog as a child too, and have two friends who were bitten as well

Your kids have been "held at bay" multiple times by snarling barking dogs?? OK then.

FreshFreesias · 22/11/2021 21:47

Amazing how all these people who loathe and fear dogs have had all these horrific experiences.
Please seek help for your cynophobia folks, and stop blaming dogs.
I’m 59 and not once have I ever been harassed by a dog.
Maybe I’m just lucky 🍀🧐

RicherThanYew · 22/11/2021 21:59

Dog poop is fucking infuriating, I will give you that much. Dogs shouldn't be jumping on people either (unless that person is me, I will take all the dog love I can get), it really is the owners fault though.

The whole furbabies thing is cute, just can't get worked up about it. It does make me smile when people on here find it rage inducing.

Newbabynewhouse · 22/11/2021 22:08

I went to Halfords for a baby seat last week, with my baby in a pram.. in walked a man followed by his staffy ..not on a lead. The dog stopped and stared at my baby..surely Halfords isnt a place i have to worry about stray dogs

Welshiefluff · 22/11/2021 22:15

I would happily ban dogs, yappity little shits.

It wasn't a stray. I hope you complained to the manager that a dog looked at your baby.

Is this story told by Ralph Wiggum?
onlychildhamster · 23/11/2021 01:16

@AllThingsServeTheBeam just curious, in the 1970s,1980s and 1990s, did dogs go to restaurants and pubs and cafes and hotels in the UK? I wasn't living here in the UK at that time. If they didn't, what has changed about dogs that they were perfectly happy not going to these places but now it is their right to go to these places.

If they did, well fair enough..
