1970s/80s lunchboxes.

DH was born in 1976. He claims to have not taken a lunchbox in school but used Tupperware. Apparently “no one had lunchboxes”. I was born in 1985 and definitely did have a lunchbox (square plastic with a handle and my little pony”.

So…if you were born in the 70s/early 80s did you have a lunchbox?

Early 80s.i had the plastic ones with handles and flask. My little pony and a few others. I remeber the clip often broke.

I was on free school dinners so never had a packed lunch. I coveted those lunch boxes with the matching flask SO badly

I too was born in 76 and I definitely had a lunchbox, Miss Petticoat was my all time favorite it had etched on the back which could trace over, I also had the matching drinks bottle and the hot food flask.

I think the thing is for me at least it was a birthday / Christmas present so wasn't an everyday thing that was bought if you see what I mean so I can see him saying it wasn't normal as it was like the latest thing - or at least I thought it was

Born in 1977. I had a red fabric lunch bag with a rainbow on it, always wanted one of those plastic ones though

Born 1976. Everyone at my primary school had the one @ShroomShroom pictured.

Started primary early 80s. Think I had a yellow flask with Kermit the frog which I took soup in and a bit later on an orangeGet along gang lunch box.

I was born in 1976 and I had a Muppet Show lunch box.

Not sure why though as my mum insisted we had to have school dinners. I like school dinners, but sometimes wanted to sit on the packed lunch table, with my cool lunch box, which I guess got used for school trips.

Yes - I had the ubiquitous orange and white chunky plastic Tupperware lunchbox with the road signs on! I LOVED that lunchbox 😍

I started school in 1984, I remember having a blue one with either Snoopy or the Mr Men on it, I'm sure it was Mr men the flask had Mr bump on it. I also had a vitalite box later on!
Kids don't know they are born lol imagine going to school these days with a massive marg tub!!

Late 70s, early 80s we all had an old ice cream tub, sometimes decorated with wallpaper!

Ooo I vaguely remember having a Mr Men one as well. I think the plastic clips used to break on them. Also remember flask rolling about inside and squashing my sarnies

Born 1981. In primary I had Spot, Snoopy, Mr Men and My Little Pony lunchboxes with matching flasks. By the time I was in year 5 or six that wasn't cool. It was de rigeur to have an old ice cream tub as a lunchbox rather than a Tupperware though

Yes, it with a mini thermos and had snoopy on it.

Late 70's early 80's and it was a Tupperware one for me. My siblings in the mid/late 80's had Transformers and Care Bears.

I had the red snoopy one with the flip top flask. I can almost smell the Robinsons Orange Barley when I think of it!

Lots of kids used to use bring lunch in the bread bag. I remember being jealous of the plastic tags that sealed the bag and as we had bakery bread in a paper bag.

70's child I had a hinged Tupperware like box for packed lunch which I used from about yr 3 until I left school, a thermos in the winter with hot orange squash or milky coffee in and a Tupperware tumbler with squash in the summer.

Children were beginning to have those plastic case like lunchboxes when I was yr 4 or 5 onwards. With things like Snoopy on.

I had the blue Snoopy flask and a margarine tub around 1981. I wanted the red Snoopy set and for my sandwiches to be wrapped with foil or greaseproof paper like my Granddad would do, but I had to have clingfilm that made everything sweaty.

By about 1985, I'd managed to negotiate a new, larger flask for secondary school, which I filled with tomato soup every day through the winter. That was a Garfield one.

I still feel a little flush of 'this is great' each time I take my wooden bento out of my bag along with the matching chopsticks, fork and spoon for lunch. Despite the effort DP goes to in making lunches I love, it never quite feels right to see the identical ingredients (stuff like salmon/tuna/prawns, rice, sesame, avocado, egg, cherry tomatoes, cucumber) shoved into a leaky Sistema with the fucking cat food fork wrapped in three layers of cling film.

Born in 78, I had pink my little pony one. My brother had a light blue one but I can’t remember what was on it.
There was a lot of tupperware about still though for sure. There was a special orange and clear tupperware lunch box that I think I used before the pink one.

Dh was born 1982, had his sister's my little pony box after he lit a firework in his snoopy lunchbox...

Born in 75 and i had themed lunchbox at one time but also plan tupparware
Can't remember the theme but they weren't common and lots of choices
