I'm home alone today and except for whatsapping my friends have nothing to do with this incandescent rage and hopeless sadness.

Anyone else need to talk? Sad

Brilliant. Hope the rest of his days are spent terrified and miserable.

RIP Sarah ❤️

RIP Sarah Everard. The correct decision made by the judge in this case.

DeadButDelicious · 30/09/2021 12:12

Just got a notification from the BBC, while life term.

FlorenceWintle · 30/09/2021 12:12

The judge is right to say what he did has eroded the confidence the public is entitled to have in the police.

Bunnycat101 · 30/09/2021 12:12

Thank Christ for that. I hope this brings some small comfort to Sarah’s family. He abused his position to lure her to her death. He is an absolute monster who should never roam free again.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/09/2021 12:13

The family keep her dressing gown close “because it still smells of her.”

Just no words.

@Swingsandroundabouts123

I’m not sure if anyone has said this… but why do they keep referring to him as an ‘ex police officer’ in the media? If he was a headteacher when he committed the abduction rape and murder they wouldn’t say ‘ex’??!!
He was sacked after he admitted the murder www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-57869528

[Flowers] for Sarah and her family and for all women who have suffered male violence.

Nosafeguardingadults · 30/09/2021 12:13

Domestic violence more serious cos so much happens so much. So many women and affects children lots of the domestic violence murders are mums and their children lose their mum.

More important than sentences is things that need to happen to stop so many women being murdered but not enough people really care cos costs money to stop women being murdered.

Sorry for posting. Is horrible what happen to her but is upsetting seeing people care only about one woman like domestic violence murders not as important. Men abusing their position as husband and dad all the time. Sorry will stop posting. Sorry for Sarah's family cos horrible what happened.

Thank goodness for that.

Thank you to the judge for his excellent summing up of the case. He didn’t let WC get away with a single aspect and threw any mitigation aside, quite rightly.

The Everard family have been nothing but dignified through all of this and I hope they get some feeling of justice knowing this despicable human will never have his liberty again.

RIP Sarah, you are all of us and I am so sorry this happened to you. We are here but for the grace of god.

I thought this was a good comment too.
Swingsandroundabouts123 · 30/09/2021 12:15

I actually haven’t followed the case that closely as it’s so sad but I think he was still a police officer when he killed Sarah and by putting ‘ex’ in front of police officer it seems like the police being allowed to distance themselves from the crime in a way that wouldn’t be happening with another profession.

Have you read the whole thread?

TheQueef · 30/09/2021 12:15

Whole life.
R.I.P. Sarah.

Viviennemary · 30/09/2021 12:16

What a relief that is. A wise decision by the judge.

I hate that it's been reported by so many as a crime having been committed by an 'ex-policeman'. Misleading as he was obviously a serving policeman when he raped and murdered her. And the Met spokesperson yesterday saying they didn't consider him to have been a policeman. All about fixing the corporate image.
viques · 30/09/2021 12:17

Whole life sentence.

I am pleased to know there is at least one judge in the UK
who understands that violence against women needs to be taken seriously. Hope the judges who think sentences of four years and five years for killing a woman are enough read the summing up and feel ashamed.

MarshaBradyo · 30/09/2021 12:17

Reading the Judges words made me cry a bit. But also he articulated well why it should be whole life, I thought that too re no shame and seriousness of a police officer doing it.

HangingOver · 30/09/2021 12:17

The right decision

People do care. I am so sorry for what you are going through and I wish it were taken far more seriously by society and the justice system.

The existence of this thread takes nothing from the horror of domestic violence, but I can see why it has stirred up those feelings for you.
I wish you well Flowers

LizBennet · 30/09/2021 12:18

I agree Swingsandroundabouts123, he was a serving police officer when he killed Sarah, he should be addressed as such. It minimises it to call him an ex-officer in the media.

Evesgarden · 30/09/2021 12:18

Obviously I am glad he got the sentence he received but no way was this his first offence. What he did was depraved and monstrous. This was not his first and only venture in to this kind of attack, there must be more, even on a lesser scale.
