@Italiandreams

Beverly Knight has one of the best singing voices I have ever heard. Seriously made me emotional.
Yes! I remember years ago, would it have been something like Celebrity Fame Academy or something. Brilliant voice.
SalsaLove · 18/09/2021 20:44

Barbra Streisand
Seal
George Michael

Floralnomad · 18/09/2021 20:44

Just on voice live : George Michael , Bryan Adams , Lee Forsyth-Griffiths . For live performance : Cher , Springsteen , Freddie Mercury .
The worst person I’ve seen live was Paul Young a couple of years ago as a support act , it was truly diabolical and I’ve sat through some crap performances in my time .

OhWhyNot · 18/09/2021 20:44

Performance/dance - Michael Jackson

I’ve seen Madonna, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake Timberlake all similar shows nowhere near as good

Price was excellent much like James Brown but not as good

Voice Luther Vandross his voice was so so beautiful

George Michael was a good but his dancing 😬 he included the crowd which is nice

HumbugWhale · 19/09/2021 10:12

@SimplySteveRedux

Ann Wilson

I forgot Ann of Heart.

Kelly Clarkson can certainly sing as can Kelly from Stereophonics.

Yes Kelly from Stereophonics has a great voice! Also Sam Brown who often performs with Jools Holland. His orchestra are amazing too!
WildCherryBlossom · 19/09/2021 10:58

Yes SamBrown is great. I've seen her live a few times (with & without Jools H)

I wish I had seen Freddie Mercury.

MrsPsmalls · 19/09/2021 11:06

Adam Lambert absolutely, also Andy Bell

HeronLanyon · 19/09/2021 12:17

This thread has made me go back and watch George Michael you tube stuff. I never did see him live.
Bloody hell , eh?

ImaginaryFriends · 19/09/2021 12:36

For her voice it has to be K D Lang she is absolutely incredible. Saw her must have been over 10 years ago and then again in 2019 her voice is still as strong as ever.

Followed by Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.

Absolutely @HeronLanyon

It’s a tragedy we lost him so young. He had one of those voices that gave me goose bumps when I heard him sing.

And YES to pp who mentioned Luther Vandross. What an amazing singer. I saw him live a good few times and he was breathtaking. Another who died too soon.

Furries · 20/09/2021 01:57

I recently saw the Pink documentary and, for the first time in quite a while, thought “now THAT is a concert I want to go to”.

I’ve been to a fair few, but three really stick in my mind:

Simple Minds at Wembley Stadium in 1989. Mandela Day has always stuck with me. And Texas were a great support cart.

Michael Jackson at Wembley Stadium in 1988. That show was phenomenal. Yes, am aware of what came to light much further down the line. But I will never forget that night, it was bloody amazing.

The Prodigy at Brixton Academy in 1997. Completely nuts and loved it! Keith Flint hanging off a scaffolding tower in the middle of the crowd belting out his lungs.

Bit more obscure, but Jamiroquai at a Camden pub was a good night. And Fluke at some London park at some stage in the 90’s were fantastic.

msssm · 20/09/2021 02:30

Yes to Chris Cornell.
Layne Staley
Devin Townsend
Mike Patton
Dave Gilmour
and Ann Wilson.

So lovely to see them mentioned. Especially Chris and Layne.

I'd like to add Eddie Vedder for his amazing voice.
And for stage presence... Simon Neil is hard to beat.

Nat6999 · 20/09/2021 02:31

Paul Weller 💗💗💗

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 20/09/2021 02:53

Best I ever saw bar none was Tina Turner live.

Next - Fun Loving Criminals - amazing live band and great music and I fancied the lead singer.

Prince - mind blowing.

Would LOVE to see Pink.

Wish I could see Ray Charles, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchel, Sinead o Connor.

yacketyyak · 15/10/2021 13:12

Freddie Mercury
George Michael
All day long!

PiesNotGuys · 15/10/2021 13:30

Agree with Freddie, Bowie, George Michael, Michael Jackson, although I never had the chance to see them actually live, they are riveting even on video. Pink, Beyoncé, I can certainly believe.

Might I add the following to the debate

Morten Harket
Matt Bellamy

Best vocalist I have ever seen live is Adam Lambert- I have seen is about 8 times with and without Queen and he has never missed a note.
Completely flawless and mindblowing range. His Who Wants To Live Forever might be my favourite live moment ever and I see usually 30ish gigs per year.

Best female vocalist I have ever seen is Jeniffer Nettles of Sugarland. She was one of the earlier acts at Country2Country a few years ago and I’d never heard of her so didn’t rush to get there. I entered the O2 building and before we even went through the doors to the main arena I knew I’d made a massive mistake arriving half way through her set. She was covering Everybody Wants to Rule the World and it was stonking!

Few years later I was first in the queue to see her in Sugarland and she was equally as flawless!

Luckytattie · 15/10/2021 13:52

I've seen both Meatloaf and Celine Dion live and can confirm Celine Dion is a phenomenal singer.

Luckytattie · 15/10/2021 13:59

@SimplySteveRedux and @SapphireSeptember ah fellow metalheads :)

I actually think the guy of Lacuna coil is a terrible singer. Christina scabbia is great but my absolute fav woman of metal is Sharon den Adele 😍

The guy singer of nightwish is really good too. Marco hietala....so good.

JMAngel1 · 15/10/2021 14:07

Neil Diamond
Ray LaMontagne

I have always wanted to see Darius Rucker and Natalie Merchant. Live YT videos give me goosebumps.

CasaBonita · 15/10/2021 14:13

Meatloaf, the best live singer in history?! Wow, ok Grin

Brollywasntneededafterall · 15/10/2021 14:16

Bruce Springsteen..
Best night of my entire life...

yacketyyak · 15/10/2021 15:03

I've seen George live and I'm going to see Queen and Adam lambert next year. Pissing my pants with excitement

notacooldad · 15/10/2021 15:10

For me it is Bruce Dickinson.
I saw him so many times in the 80's and 90's and he has a great stage presence and a fantastic vocal range.
Absolutely love see Iron Maiden doing Hallowed be thy name.

notacooldad · 15/10/2021 15:13

I hate to say this but in over 40 years of going to gigs from everything from stadiums to local bars and everything in between THE FLC are in my top 5 of the worst gigs ever. I was so disappointed.
