@ChequerBoard thank you. I'm sorted now for the day 🤣

EastWestWhosBest · 12/09/2021 13:39

I’ve not read the whole thread so perhaps loads of people have said this already but lots of the shows mentioned are on BritBox.

All of Tenko, Soldier Soldier and River.
Also Corrie, Brookside and I think, Eastenders right from the start.

BeReet · 12/09/2021 13:39

Cracker with Robbie Coltrane - especially the episode with Robert Carlyle in. True Detective with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConneghy - that was amazing. The following series, not so much.
Another fan of The Killing here, loved it. Also Quantum Leap me and the kids watch it occasionally.

Forces TV is channel 181 on Sky - CHiPs is on from 7;15pm - 5 episodes back to back 😂

They also show Soldier Soldier and many other shoes mentioned on this thread!

I really liked a reality show called The Family. I think there was a series in the 70's but channel 4 brought it back about about 15yrs ago and did two more series. They basically just put cameras in a family home and you watched what they got up to.

I also watched a programme called Joking Apart that was on in the 90's but never see it repeated x

Oh yes. The Hillsborough storyline. Cracker was bloody good.

@Twitchynose

Think it was a drama on BBC2 called Mother Love, twenty odd years ago. Can’t remember the full plot now but was basically a controlling/abusive mother and mistreated adult daughter. I missed the last episode, and never did find out what happened when she was locked inside the old bomb shelter at the end of the penultimate episode! Not that I recall enough of the plot for the answer to make any sense now, so I need to watch the whole thing again.
Yes! I remember this with Diana Rigg. It was incredible.
WingingItSince1973 · 12/09/2021 14:08

@ChequerBoard you're a star! Thank you. Going to subject my teen to some nostalgic TV later 🤣

@feelingsicknow

A BBC (?) fly on the wall series called The Grafton about a working men's club 'oop north'. I absolutely loved it. Have never managed to track it down again. About 20 years old now.
The grafton in Liverpool?? I’ve been there a few times (an experience!) Never knew there was a tv prog about it!
Rummikub · 12/09/2021 14:55

@ChequerBoard

Children of Earth is the one that stil stays with me.

woodhill · 12/09/2021 15:15

Kind of loving

StCharlotte · 12/09/2021 15:28

Ask the Family. The original version - I was quite good at it.

I'd like to see a new version of The Onedin Line.

StormOfSekhmet · 12/09/2021 15:34

Gomer Pyle

StCharlotte · 12/09/2021 16:07

@StormOfSekhmet

Gomer Pyle
That might be my next user name Grin
StormOfSekhmet · 12/09/2021 16:36

StCharlotte, I think it would be a good one!! 😆 it's quite a name, isn't it? Brilliant programme, too

NigellaSeed · 12/09/2021 16:41

I wish I could watch Making A Murderer again but for the first time, it's so mind blowing

LyndaSnellsSniff · 12/09/2021 17:04

@InglouriousBasterd

I’d love to watch House of Eliot with DD, it was just so good when I was her age

I have the box set of The House of Eliott. I absolutely adore it!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 12/09/2021 17:06

Sea of Souls. It was a Scottish supernatural detective series and was great! Similarly, a series called Afterlife with Andrew Lincoln. I think he was a policeman and he was helped by a medium.

woodhill · 12/09/2021 17:15

Loved sea of souls

happilybemused · 12/09/2021 17:17

Definitely Survivors.

When the pandemic started my husband and I were ' we'll be hiding out with Max Beesley and Johnson from Peep show if we manage to survive'

I am glad to report this eventually did not come to pass.

Also, am I right in thinking that it just ended mid storyline.

@Brakebackcyclebot

Tenko - I loved it in my teens. Maybe it would be terribly dated now though
I watched this again a couple of years ago. It was still as impactful and still had me hooked. An outstanding series.

I watched Tenko for the first time a couple of years ago and thought it was brilliant - it has aged well. I bought the DVDs!
