Pramface-bbc3, not on iplayer but genuinely funny.
Survivors-bbc remake from about 10 years ago

Put the TV on this afternoon and Starsky and Hutch was on! Used to love it back in the day, but the lighting and sound quality (lots of mumbling) was so poor it was hard to watch Sad

DameCelia · 11/09/2021 22:35

The Duchess of Duke Street.
I think it was before Upstairs Downstairs, absolutely loved it as a child.

ChequerBoard · 11/09/2021 22:39

How We Used To Live - it was an educational programme that we watched at primary school but it followed a family - mum, dad, daughter (Kitty I think) and younger son through the years of the second world war. I'd really love to see it all again.

Dream On - no-one ever remembers it but I loved it. Quirky show about a single bloke and interspersed with black and white film clips

Northern Exposure

Everwood

Early neighbours

Thanks for the Soldier Soldier on Prime tip. About to binge!

LAHybridrc · 11/09/2021 22:51

@OllyBJolly Loved Dream On!

SmellyOldOwls · 11/09/2021 22:54

I was 3 series into Reign when it came off Netflix! I was raging!

Saturday evenings, BBC. I think it was around the same time as Upstairs Downstairs (and possibly created as a bit of a copycat) but UD I think was Sundays ITV.
Nic1701 · 12/09/2021 08:18

Lost in Space and Land of the Giants. I was born in then 80s but watched them on channel 4 after Sunday school obviously re runs but I still watch them from time to time.

Downtherefordancing · 12/09/2021 08:34

I would love to see again (but for the first time)

Our Friends in the North

Breaking Bad

Cucumber

Cold Feet (original - not the recent crap)

StormOfSekhmet · 12/09/2021 08:36

Upstairs, downstairs, The Onedin Line (Loved the theme tune), Sapphire and Steel, Get Smart, I Love Lucy

Oh yes. Am clearly older than you as they were both Thursday teatime Grin Lost in Space was probably what got me into all things alien and monsteroony.
Roystonv · 12/09/2021 08:40

Came on to say the Lost Honor of Christopher Jeffries but was beaten to it, so good. Watched it twice and can anyone tell me if it ended early in the later screening?

countingto10 · 12/09/2021 08:45

I loved the BBC costume dramas liked Penmarric, To Serve Them all My Days, A Horseman Riding By etc.

There was a one off drama that stayed with me called Trip Trap starring Kevin Whateley about a middle class, pillar of the community, Headmaster who was an absolute monster to his wife. It was chilling.

youvemademyshitlist · 12/09/2021 08:58

Sunset Beach.

It was so shit it was good. We used to watch it in the snack bar at college and I think I'd still appreciate how the "marble" staircases sounded like hollow plywood as they clumped down them in their massive wedge sandals and how they'd stand on someone's door step for 20 minutes whilst they went into a flash back Grin

WirKindervomBahnhofZoo · 12/09/2021 09:01

@Hedgesfullofbirds

From my childhood in the '70's

'Kizzy'

'Lizzie Dripping'

OMG 'Kizzy' - had forgotten all about that. Also 70s child. Wanted to change my name to Kizzy after watching it!
WirKindervomBahnhofZoo · 12/09/2021 09:06

Now watching Kizzy on YouTube 😂

Lils11 · 12/09/2021 09:12

Pushing Daisies Daffodil

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 12/09/2021 09:21

A children’s show called Codename Icarus. An odd spy drama set in a school for child geniuses, with a bizarre ‘game’ which took place in a squash court.

And First Born, with Charles Dance, about a gorilla/human hybrid. I read the novel it was based on a couple of years ago. It was atrocious.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 12/09/2021 09:22

Just to be clear, the novel was atrocious. The TV series was enthralling.

DontGiveAFlyingFig · 12/09/2021 10:13

@youvemademyshitlist, that's a blast from the past, I loved Sunset Beach.

SisyphusDad · 12/09/2021 10:18

Paradise Club
'In the Red' (I think it was called - about the murder of a load of bank managers). There was a bit in the last episode that was so funny I actually fell off my chair laughing. Apparently they can't rerun it or issue it on DVD because of issues with the rights to the music Sad

Geamhradh · 12/09/2021 10:40

@Motherofalittledragon

Adrian Mole Black Beauty Bleak House The x files Gosh I miss the simpler times of my youth!!
DD and I watched the entire X files seasons last summer. Made me chuckle as I was flat-sharing when it started and my not terribly bright flatmate thought the first episode was a real documentary. Wtaf? I'd forgotten the utterly dreadful final episodes- what an absolute let down...and also the fun of noting how many shades of brown Scully could wear in one episode. Grin
Nic1701 · 12/09/2021 10:44

@Geamhradh I wish I had watched them when it was originally out it must have been good special effects at the time. I’m the same love sci-fi but these two definitely my favourites. Did you know that lost in space actually did better in the ratings than Star Trek apparently. I wish they had got home I’m the end 😭 probably a bit over invested lol

AJumpedUpPantryBoy · 12/09/2021 10:57

Common as muck - drama about a group of binmen. Stared Tim Healy and Kathy Burke

Roger Roger - drama about a taxi company. Just sheer genius - first series included Philip Glenister

Big Bad World. Drama series with Ardal O Hanlan.

I didn't know that!
I wonder if it was because Star Trek was billed as adult programming (,Monday evening BBC, clashed with Corrie iirc) whereas Lost in Space was kids, and there were 2 channels showing kids' programmes at the time.
Space 1999 was another fave. And I was about 10 but wanted to marry Martin Landau who must have been about 50 Grin
