Agree with Jewel in The Crown and Tenko. Also Yes, Minister, Yes Prime Minister and I, Claudius. The last one was before my time; the others I sort of remember being on, but I was a bit young and they went over my head.
I'd also love to revisit 90s comedy like Black Books and Green Wing; I don't think there's been anything as good, or as much quantity of good comedy, since then.

I vaguely remember watching a short documentary series on ITV about newlyweds. It then revisited the couples in a later series. The only person can I remember was a woman from Liverpool with long blonde hair. I can’t remember the title, but I think it may have been a pun based on ‘The 7 Year Itch’. I can’t find anything on Google.

And the theme tune was “ your love is lifting me higher” or something like that

@Knittingnanny

@VienneseWhirligig was Love and Marriage a 1980’s /early 90’s documentary ? I recall watching a series which followed a variety married couples and showed their lives in quite a lot of detail. Never been able to find out anything about it on google though

No, it was a drama with Alison Steadman and Celia Imrie, AS left her husband and CI was in a relationship with a married man, it was about their families lives. It was really good.

Years ago there was a fly on the wall documentary type series called 'No Going Back' on channel 4. It was about families starting a new life abroad, usually quite lighthearted, a nice thing to watch in the evening as a family.

Then one day it followed a family who moved to an island off the coast of Nicaragua. To say everything went spectacularly wrong would be an understatement. The man died and the nature of it all was just so disturbing I can't really put it into words. I was a teen at the time and it has stuck with me for decades.

I want to re-watch it as I almost feel it wasn't real and I must be exaggerating. However, whilst all of the episodes of No Going Back are available on demand 4, the 2 Nicaragua episodes are unavailable.

Katyy · 14/09/2021 19:33

Mr Ed. It was a talking horse children’s program. Also Dallas and Brookside were my favourites.

@ooherrmissus14

I really liked a reality show called The Family. I think there was a series in the 70's but channel 4 brought it back about about 15yrs ago and did two more series. They basically just put cameras in a family home and you watched what they got up to.

I also watched a programme called Joking Apart that was on in the 90's but never see it repeated x

I loved the Asian family in this, I really thought it would go somewhere but nope.
lilmishap · 15/09/2021 09:38

Lipstick on your collar and Head over heels.
One of them had fingering going on, I barely moved for the entirety of that episode in case I had to make eye contact with my dad who was sat next to me!

God, that's sinister! I don't remember this programme at all. Odd that they even aired those ones if they're so disturbing.

MydogWillow · 15/09/2021 10:15

Yes, Cracker!

What was the programme where a person has to pass off doing something very unlike their own profession or hobby? The one I remember was a classical cellist who had to learn/pretend to be a club DJ? Was a good watch.

Bring back Flirty Dancing. Lovely concept.

That was Faking It. I loved that. They used to have a lot of the episodes on Channel 4's Catchup service. They might still be on there.

According to this review, It doesn't seem like you were exaggerating or imagined it.

I have found this but no download for it - but intriguingly it autocompletes on google, so you're not the only one who remembers it.

For those interested in the No Going Back story about the island of 'Janique', there's quite a detailed follow up in this article. A lot of it focussed on the shady characters that 'bought' the islands and their business dealings but if you keep scrolling there are some updates about Jane and her family who seem to now be back in London.

2catsandhappy · 15/09/2021 21:24

@youvemademyshitlist yes, Sunset Beach. Thank you for the reminder! The chase scenes around the tiny sets were so funny. And all that 'thinking' that went on. I may be off to find a dvd...

Bbq1 · 15/09/2021 21:30

Oh wow, really? I did extra work on Brookside and lose the videos.
