Honestly Ive just finished Time what an amazing piece of tv. I love him. My friend has put a downer on it saying he cant act and his accent is the same in everything. He can, cant he?

Used to love him, but having heard too many stories about how he treats women, I cant get past that now because he does always play Sean Bean. So you cant even get away from that to just enjoy the character he plays rather than his moral character in real life.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/06/2021 21:40

Just he's so evil in Snowpiercer.

It's all about Sharpe for me. Just rewatched them all with war obsessed DS

There was a good interview with Jimmy Mcgovern discussing Time where he says he wants actors speaking in their own accent because they wants them to fully concentrate on their performance.

Sean Bean is mesmerising in Time.

"you are Blursula"

🤣

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/06/2021 21:42

^^
and I've just quoted the wrong Sean
🙈🤔🤣

I may be the odd one out here but I had not seen Sean Bean in anything until Time. I know he has had some well known series and roles and knew of him for years but for some reason never watched his acting.

I thought he played the part brilliantly and was very believable. As for comments about him always playing "Sean Bean" well I don't know about that but I used to say John Wayne could only ever play John Wayne and that was down to him seeming unable to alter his voice or accent.

MarshaBradyo · 17/06/2021 21:45

Yes he can he was incredible in it

MarshaBradyo · 17/06/2021 21:47

The other actors were incredible too

The whole thing was intense and v good

Housewife2010 · 17/06/2021 21:49

I thought he was excellent in Time.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 17/06/2021 21:50

@HundredMilesAnHour

I saw him onstage ago starring in Macbeth in the West End and he was amazing. He can act, he just can't really do accents.
I did too and was really impressed!
Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/06/2021 21:51

@EarringsandLipstick sorry! I read that neighbours reported a few domestic disturbances at his house. Also apparently threw a glass at his current wife when they had a drunk argument on a flight last year.

tedsletterofthelaw · 17/06/2021 21:52

I thought he was great in Time but was outshone by Stephen Graham who was just brilliant.

Queenoftheashes · 17/06/2021 21:56

I like Sean Bean he got stabbed in the pub and stayed for another pint.
I thought he did a good boromir.
If he treats women like shit that’s really annoying and depressing though.

Coldbit · 17/06/2021 21:57

I've only seen him in tv roles and he's never struck me as being a particularly talented actor so its interesting that people say he has been really good in the theatre.

Time was brilliant though. Terrifying but brilliant.

FillerAngel · 17/06/2021 21:58

?! Who cares?!

Re his accent, I think he tried Posh in Bond. Not very well.

But again. Who cares? Objectify? Moi?

drinkstoomuchwine · 17/06/2021 22:02

Another vote for absolute excellent performance from Sean

MarshaBradyo · 17/06/2021 22:06

I loved both but yes he’s now one of my favourite actors
PuppyMonkey · 17/06/2021 22:09

@TheQueef

No. But it isn't his acting you were watching.
I’m guessing you’ve not watched him in this particular programme because it was all about his acting.
SirenSays · 17/06/2021 22:10

He's a great actor! Gave great performances in LOTR, GOT and Snowpiercer. Was even pretty decent in Troy. I love his accent, it suits him and his acting is better with his natural accent rather than putting one on

Effsee · 17/06/2021 22:13
Just going to leave this here 🤣
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 17/06/2021 22:20

He’s exceptional in time. He’s dreadful as a villain in Snowpiercer

Amazing. Thank you for this. You've made my evening.

He's a great actor by the way. Bandy legged but still a great actor.

Coldbit · 17/06/2021 22:27

On reflection I think his finest performance might have been in the Yorkshire Tea advert Brew

Lipsandlashes · 17/06/2021 22:30

I think he is a great actor. Totally believable in most roles. I felt desperately sorry for him in Time, hated his guts in Red Riding and felt his compassion as the priest in Broken

Mrsjayy · 17/06/2021 22:31

"My introduction to Sean bean was as Oliver Mellors, I need say no more."

Oh myyy Blush

Sorry flustered by the memory Grin I love Sean Bean and thought he was brilliant in Time by far the best thing I've seen him in.
