As I said earlier, you need to think how the people involved feel, after the event, about the footage, the photos, the threads on forums such as this. It affects them for years to come knowing this stuff is out there. They read it sometimes. It adds to their trauma.

Weird thread.
Praying he’s ok.

hypocritical much?
if you hate this thread so much why don't you hide & unwatch it?

Erm, I haven't...
Are you troll hunting?
I'm reporting your post as just that.

Great news from the hospital. One excellent result coming out of this. DD and basically her whole Hall of residence organising a first aid course to be taught to them in 3 weeks time. Organised very fast, but apparently there is a sudden surge in demand for some reason!

Erm, I wasn’t troll hunting at all...

You said

That isn't what this thread was created for.

Honestly. Why did I bother?

Implying that you created the thread.

AngeloMysterioso · 12/06/2021 20:29

If I thought you were a troll I’d have reported you.

That's kind, yes it reminded me of Hillsborough, I wasn't in the he room tonight, just walked in as they said resuscitation and looking at the screen thinking oh god, what's happened. I remember that with Hillsborough, that horrible feeling when you realise they've stopped playing and something is unfolding. Really reminded me of that, so glad he seems ok.

I did feel for Gary Linneker and the others when they cut back to the studio, they were just stunned

Because I know how reading shit like this is after a traumatic event can affect people. Having footage and comments like some on here isn’t good for the actual person it involves or their families and friends. And I can write that on here if I want to. I will always ask for stuff like this to be deleted and write what I think.

Zwellers · 12/06/2021 20:39

1940's your husband works in the medical industry so wanted to understand what was going on? Why? If he couldn't help it's exactly the same as every Tom, Dick and Harry who watched because they wanted to know what was happening. It's like another planet here sometimes Confused

MrsBongiovi · 12/06/2021 20:41

Zwellers

No, it’s because it’s about the real victims. Not the person who is first to post, a rushed post, with an incorrect name to get attention. It’s sick. And it hurts people.

DeRigueurMortis · 12/06/2021 20:41

IMHO the people being disrespectful are the ones critical of this thread.

Many people watched in real time and as per my pp are not gossiping but sharing the consequences of watching a very disturbing event, rooting for CE and his family and sending good wishes.

That's natural and it's not nasty or inappropriate.

It's also heartwarming to see fans of both countries being supportive.

What is inappropriate is trying to shut down a thread because...well because why?

Do you think it's inappropriate to be concerned, congratulate players and medics for a quick response, express support for CE and his family, be shocked at the coverage?

Frankly what the fuck is your problem?

fashionablefennel · 12/06/2021 20:43

you are not concerned, you are a gossip.

The title of the thread proves it. It's embarrassing, it IS natural as it always happen everywhere, but it doesn't belong on a parenting forum.

Genderwitched · 12/06/2021 20:45

@MrsBongiovi
Actually, it is people like you that have made this thread a distressing thing for potential loved ones to read. Before the criticism it was filled with concern and shock, and wishes for his speedy recovery.

Whinge · 12/06/2021 20:46

Because I know how reading shit like this is after a traumatic event can affect people. Having footage and comments like some on here isn’t good for the actual person it involves or their families and friends.

It's all over the news, the video of him collapsing is on the internet and the event is being discussed on forums and social media. I hardly think a few concerned comments on MN is going to affect the family and friends more than they already are.

I'm sorry you find the thread in bad taste and seem to have a traumatic event in your history. But you cannot moderate and police the internet, and if you could i'm sure your efforts would be much better spent elsewhere, as the majority of this thread has been concern and hope for his speedy recovery.

fashionablefennel · 12/06/2021 20:50

Looking at the amount of threads deleted by MN, they absolutely can police what happens on this site!

Bovrilly · 12/06/2021 20:51

Also why doesn't it belong on a parenting forum in particular?

Parents watch football and are affected by events like this. It's not all nappies, breastfeeding and making a single chicken feed a family for two weeks.

MrsBongiovi · 12/06/2021 20:52

Actually, it is people like you that have made this thread a distressing thing for potential loved ones to read. Before the criticism it was filled with concern and shock, and wishes for his speedy recovery.

It’s really not. I know that stuff like this written online in haste, whilst an incident is ongoing, can be very difficult for victims to process, once they have ‘recovered’. I’m not saying it doesn’t affect people, of course it does. But it’s not your place. Grief thief and all that. The speed at which OP posted to ‘be first’ meant she even got this mans name wrong. How ‘comforting’ that would be for his loved ones.

Anyway, I am hiding the thread now. It’s wrong. Mumsnet moderating is becoming more questionable by the day.

I thought it was clear I was refering to the poster, not MNHQ. However, apologies if my comment didn't read that way. Of course MNHQ can moderate the site however they wish to.
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 12/06/2021 21:04

I suggest we stop replying to goady fuckers. they will go away if not encouraged.

really hope there will be more confirmed good news about his condition soon.
I thought the worst but kept on hoping for the best.
much love to you all

I should take my own fucking advice!

🤣

ShaneTheThird · 12/06/2021 21:12

Wow, how disrespectful are posters arguing and being bitchy. Its a shocking event that millions have unfortunately witnessed live and is in the news. A seemingly healthy young man has collapsed and is in a serious state, thats shocking and upsetting and incredibly distressing. Wishing Christian a full and speedy recovery and hoping his wife has someone with her right now. With a bit of luck this event will spurn people on to learn cpr.
