I don't even watch football, but bloody hell that was horrid. I kept saying to DH, why don't they screen him off and clear the stadium? Most distressing. Really hope he makes it.

My DS just made a very good point.

He said if there's a streaker on the pitch they immediately cut to the crowds. If someone swears, they immediately bleep it out or apologise.

Yet they thought it perfectly acceptable to continue showing a man who is very likely dying on the pitch and his poor girlfriend, visibly distressed.

Beggars belief.

I’m not watching it but if that’s what happened it’s disgusting, I agree.

DH and DS were at a match where this happened and happily he made a full recovery. It upset them to see it happening but thankfully the guy was alright.

Hoping this has a good outcome too. His poor family.

Why on earth didn't they cut back to the studio once they were doing cpr? Everyone knew then it was something extremely serious.

We said the same, it was awful to watch and then to continue to broadcast for so long was ghoulish.

I think it happened to a Cameroonian player too.

I've just heard he may be alive, there is a photo of him on the stretcher with his hand on his forehead looking at the camera, I so hope he's OK.

They should have ended the coverage a lot sooner - it shouldn't have been left to his teammates to shield him from the crowd.

How awful. At least he received CPR immediately. It's also a good sign (relatively speaking) that he was being defibrillated. Not all types of cardiac arrest can be shocked; the ones that can are more likely to have a good outcome. But clearly very serious and worrying even so.

Someone in our group chat has sent a photo of him sitting up eyes open, it looks legit. Invasive shot but hopefully it means he’s come round and will pull through, heart is aching for his family and friends ❤️
