Actors who play the same role in various programs

I wonder if they get bored playing the same character over and over again.

I mean two I can think of straight off my head is Melissa McCartney and Rebel Wilson

They always seem to play the fat, happy go lucky, funny girl.

If I was an actor I would love to play a mixture of characters. Personally I’d love to play a villain just so I could experience it Grin

Lily James seems to have fitted the current vacancy for a pretty well spoken actress who can be relied on for particularly period roles. She's following on from Keira Knightley and in the 1980s it was Helena Bonham Carter. Helena has developed into an excellent character actress. Re Keira, there is a man who does impressions of her on Instagram. I can't remember his name, but he does Keira so well.

If you think Martin Freeman always plays Martin Freeman you should watch Startup on Netflix. He is most definitely not Martin Freeman.

@PollyPepper

This is going to be controversial but.....Michael Caine. Terrible, one note actor.
Totally agree with you. He seems to play himself in everything he's in.
Mrsjayy · 23/05/2021 14:17

I love the mouth acting woman😄 the Kiera knightly impression is hilarious

TerrifiedandWorried · 23/05/2021 14:24

Loved Martin Freeman in Fargo. Totally changed my view of him as an actor.

Reece Witherspoon was excellent in Walk the Line.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 23/05/2021 14:24

Liam Neeson.
Jason Statham.
Eddie Murphy.

eddiemairswife · 23/05/2021 14:43

Has William Roache ever not played Ken Barlow?

Mrsjayy · 23/05/2021 14:46

I stand by my comment - no matter what character he plays all I see is John Hurt overacting 🤷‍♀️

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 23/05/2021 15:39

And,as much as I love him, Ryan Reynolds. I can’t see him playing an angst ridden, quiet introspective character.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/05/2021 16:06

Keanu Reeves

In fairness I would argue Keanu can do two things really well: stoic badass (as in John Wick) and confused moron (Bill and Ted).

That's why he was so good in the Matrix films, because he got to show his full acting range.

SappysCurry · 23/05/2021 16:07

@eddiemairswife
That’s what I thought 🤣

He’s even in the Guinness book of records for it 😂

Mrsjayy · 23/05/2021 16:41

I watched Ryan Murphy play Pikachu the man has range 😂 I love Deadpool it isn't for everyone but he is funny.

EvilOnion · 23/05/2021 16:41

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow have you seen Buried? That was pretty nerve wracking and definitely different from his usual self.

Soubriquet · 23/05/2021 16:44

Deadpool is awesome Grin

Ryan Reynolds not Murphy bloody hell

If you haven't already, it's well worth checking him out in a film he did a while ago called The Voices. Its meant to be a dark comedy and seems a bit silly at first, but is very very dark and has a lot to say about metal health. He plays a man with schizophrenia who stops taking his medication and he is excellent. Worth watching right until the end.
peoplearepeople · 23/05/2021 16:54

Oh, and I'd agree with Jennifer Aniston usually playing the same character, but she was amazing in Cake as a woman suffering with Chronic pain after an accident. A very different role for her.

Feckin Sly Stallone
