Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

Monty Bojangles ginger truffles.

Mint Cracknel chocolate bars - oh, those bright green shards of loveliness !

Many years ago, Sainsburys little plastic pots of coffee mousse, topped with cream - sometimes can find a similar version in Lidl, but the Sainsburys one was perfection....

And yes yes yes to bacon grills !

Furrybutts · 28/03/2021 10:13

Kab30 oh my!! Yes, the cashew version of Poppy Cock. Never recovered from not being able to get that 😔

cookiecreampie · 28/03/2021 10:17

I bought a Cadburys Marble from BnM yesterday after wanting one for years. It was an Australian import, tasted ok but it was nothing like the original.

Camandmitch · 28/03/2021 10:17

@Vetyveriohohoh I remember the recipe changing and not liking it as much then it vanished. Maybe the cheese is version 3

Leeds3 · 28/03/2021 10:22

Original recipe Dairy Milk before they started ruining the taste of it with palm oil.
Aldi truffled salami - keep searching the deli fridge hoping it will return....

IggyAce · 28/03/2021 10:26

Chicken tonight lemon paste, that was lovely and made for a quick meal with salad & wraps or rice. Think it was discontinued around 10 years ago.

UGH1 · 28/03/2021 10:44

@Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep that dip was so good! I was so disappointed when it was discontinued. There is a similar one in Sainsbury's taste the difference range though.

@bellagogosdead

Tesco frozen fake bacon and hotdogs, I am always checking but they have just gone. Sad Also Waitrose aubergine pate, was so gorgeous and massively unhealthy.
I’ve noticed the dogs seem to be a summer only line so hopefully they will come back.

It was the best duo, why did they take it away?!!?
MyAnacondaMight · 28/03/2021 10:56

Pecorino and basil dip was hands down Waitrose’s best product. A delicious pasta sauce as well as a dip for pizza crusts or crisps. Life isn’t the same without it.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 28/03/2021 11:15

I have found my people.
Come on waitrose - bring it back.

And whilst we're at it. Who made Mingles and why did they stop? I bloody loved those.

Morrisons gluten free chocolate swirls. I reckon the thing I miss most since I stopped being able to eat gluten is parties - lovely warm croissants and pains au chocolat and such.

These weren't world-beating, but they were pretty nice warmed through and eaten with a nice mug of black coffee on a Sunday morning.

Disappeared before Christmas. I hoped they'd come back after and still check every time I go in, but no joy 🙁

Probably for the best, but still...

Also Walkers fish and chips flavoured crisps. I might have been the only person to like them, but I liked them soooo much.

IveMadeAHugeMistake · 28/03/2021 11:22

*pastries, not parties. I don't miss parties 😆

BrownEyedGirl80 · 28/03/2021 11:25

KFC sour cream and chive dip.Havent seen it since mid noughties

ThatOtherPoster · 28/03/2021 11:28

Back in the 80s 😬 Waitrose did an orange-peel cookie in the bakery section. I had a Saturday job there and used to buy one every week. It tasted like golden syrup and had chewy chunks of peel inside it...

I’ve never met another person who remembers it though.

ThatOtherPoster · 28/03/2021 11:29

In the 90s 😬 Tesco sold 10 Calorie Soup. I lived on the onion one at uni.

lollipoprainbow · 28/03/2021 11:40

Cheese buttons and potato triangles deliciously salty ! Ricecles, sugared rice crispies unhealthy but delicious ! Sainsbury's used to do nonsuch Brazil nut toffees, individual round toffees with a Brazil nut on top yummy !

BrownEyedGirl80 · 28/03/2021 11:59

Findus cheese and tomato lasagne. No(horse) meat just pasta, cheese, tomatoes and tomato sauce 😋

proopher · 28/03/2021 12:07

Toast toppers!

DinosaurDiana · 28/03/2021 12:24

You can still get the salty triangle crisps, I think they’re in Spar. I’m sure they were called Wig Wams when I was a kid.
And I’m sure I’ve seen Toast Toppers in the shops.

kerkyra · 28/03/2021 12:27

Waitrose open mushroom ravioli.
I haven't been able to find it in over a year. My son and I would share it as a treat instead of getting a takeaway and it was gorgeous. Four large ravioli filled with mushroom and cream, with a tomato ragu around the outside topped with cheese and breadcrumbs. So good.

Spied · 28/03/2021 12:36

Options Turkish Delight hot chocolate.

Totallydefeated · 28/03/2021 12:39

Sainsburys’s Taste the Difference Italian style pork and beef meatballs. They were just delicious, richly savoury with a hit of fennel, and so moreish. They were a real cut above the usual standard of ready made supermarket meatballs and you couldn’t buy anything similar elsewhere. Often they were the reason I did a whole weekly shop at Sainsburys instead of Waitrose or Ocado.

Then they stopped doing them, and now just offer bog standard boring bland beef ones instead, that are identical to all the other meatballs offered by all the other supermarkets 🤷‍♀️

No reason for me to shop at Sainsbury’s anymore!
