Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

Sainsbury’s used to do a chocolate milkshake powder that made thick chocolate milkshake. Not sure if it came in other flavours.

Discontinued

All these lovely foods mentioned on here I never got to try

HuntingoftheSnark · 28/03/2021 14:48

Cote D'Or chocolate praline elephants, in a twisty wrapper, red and white. I haven't seen any for ages.

LadyPenelope68 · 28/03/2021 14:52

@Camandmitch
M&S use to sell a ready meal broccoli, chicken pie with a mash topping. I'd always have one in the freezer for a lazy dinner. They were nice.
They still do them!

Kab30 · 28/03/2021 15:07

@Furrybutts

Kab30 oh my!! Yes, the cashew version of Poppy Cock. Never recovered from not being able to get that 😔
Everytime I go in and look for it ...even tho I know it's not there 😥
bobbikato · 28/03/2021 15:09

Sorry if been said .
M&S pear / cherry tarts at the bakery - the little ones that cost one pound or 50p at 5pm but often sold out .
althought i might have imagined them as a baker in M&S said they have never sold these ? ! ?
Otherwise my number one missed item is some really nice fresh curry sauce range called " Masala Masala " sold in waitrose , it won plaudits from gary rhodes but the founder priyta has stopped production over " supply issue " aka the factory wants more money and she now does some education quango .

M&S Grape Syllabubs from the 80s and I still miss them, paella paste, stroganoff paste
Waitrose No1 Moussaka, No1 large steak and ale pie and now No1 fish pie. All great standby meals. I swear their No1 range gets smaller every time I go in!
Morrisons fresh cream palmieres from the bakery. So large and lush that we used to share one between two.

brushlaptop · 28/03/2021 15:17

Yes to Thornton's strawberry pig fondants!!! The best!!

sueelleker · 28/03/2021 15:17

@Tartyflette

Cadbury's chocolate covered whole nuts, in a tin, that used to appear around Christmastime. It was a nice tin of whole brazil, almond and hazel nuts in a really thick glossy milk chocolate coating. Probably would not be the same at all since they have traduced their dairy milk chocolate and would probably also be insanely expensive (not that it was ever cheap) b ut it was a lovely Christmas treat.
I've still got the tin-I use it for storage. M&S pear / cherry tarts at the bakery - the little ones that cost one pound or 50p at 5pm but often sold out I used to buy one of the frangipane pear ones on my way to work, for breakfast. They were gorgeous.
brushlaptop · 28/03/2021 15:19

Omg yes the snowflake bar too!!! It was pure cruelty to discontinue that one!

DragonPoop · 28/03/2021 15:20

I’ve banged on about this before but Asda about 7 years ago used to do an ‘extra special’ vacuum sealed pouch of tuna steak in olive oil (as opposed to a tin of tuna) It was a whole tuna steak and it was absolutely beautiful quality. No tin of tuna will ever compare

Parkmama · 28/03/2021 15:21

Birds eye fish in white sauce inside puff pastry, it was frozen and delicious, I ate it all through uni

Haddock in a seeded coating from Waitrose, so good, recently discontinued

There's a fish theme!!

jessstan2 · 28/03/2021 15:30

Blancmange powder.

Faggots.

ThatOtherPoster · 28/03/2021 15:31

Can’t you get faggots anymore? I’m sure I saw Braine’s Faggots in the freezer at Waitrose recently.

DdJames · 28/03/2021 15:35

Applewood spreadable cheese! Vanished off the shelves a few years ago- I still look everywhere just incase it reappears.

OhTheTastyNuts · 28/03/2021 15:39

Tesco Finest Massaman curry sauce. So delicious. I really miss it!

Geepee71 · 28/03/2021 15:39

M&S used to do a whipped brie and cranberry dip, which was amazing.
I used to buy loads of it, so no idea why it was discontinued!

CherryCherries · 28/03/2021 15:40

@slippertripper it's sounds like your Ben and Jerry's ice cream went to the graveyard (it's actually a thing on their website!)
The graveyard tells you when the flavour was on sale and what date it was discontinued..

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 28/03/2021 15:41

Lyons cup cakes, they used to do either chocolate ones or Lemon and orange. Also Heinz if you are reading pleas bring back toast toppers they were great for a quick and tasty lunch.

Autumn101 · 28/03/2021 15:42

Another vote for Heinz bean pizza - I’ve tried just adding beans on top of a normal cheese and tomato pizza, it’s not the same.....

Also Pot Mash about 25 years ago - curry flavour and so wrong but so delicious!

dontknowwasmadetoknow · 28/03/2021 15:43

Lyons chocolate cupcakes and crackerbarrel cheese.
As pp mentioned Sara Lee pecan danish

WellJuhnelle · 28/03/2021 15:43

Middle bacon. Back doesn’t have enough fat and streaky has too much - middle just makes the perfect bacon sandwich but it must be out of fashion as I can’t even get it at my butchers anymore

Twigletgirl27 · 28/03/2021 15:48

@Sunbird24 you can buy iced buns with lemon curd in the middle from M&S. They come in a pack of two and are gorgeous! They used to be called Whitby buns but I noticed last time I got them they were now just called lemon curd buns.

ChaseTheSun · 28/03/2021 15:50

@BrownEyedGirl80
