Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

M and S Chicken and Bacon Lasagne.
Some cheesy crisps from years ago. Can't remember their name but they were. In a yellow bag and were lumps of crunchy cheese heaven.

Prawn cocktail wotsits and domino's did a pizza called the Carolina once upon a time

en0la · 29/03/2021 05:35

@AvengingGerbil

Waaaay back when Haagen Dazs was new, they did a vanilla ice cream with swirls of peanut butter in it. I still fantasise about it. (Peanut butter ice cream, by contrast, is vile.)
Somebody does one like that, Sainsbury's sell it.

Also the packet lemon meringue pies that had a crunchy biscuit base instead of pastry and also the cheesecake versions.

A chocolate bar in the 90s called a secret or whisper and it was chocolate mouse with a kind of nest of chocolate around it. I remember those-they were like an Aero, but with finer bubbles. I think they were Wispa.

You still get wispas
Camandmitch · 29/03/2021 09:49

I remember Secrets. They were lush. They're not the same as whispers

Romantica ice cream gateau. Was my Christmas dinner dessert of choice until it disappeared and left my with just vienetta, which doesn't even compare to the caramel texture sensation of Romantica. Still available in Ireland apparently. I may move.

Greggs Bread pudding

Dinkydoos · 29/03/2021 12:58

@SavannahLands
Was that Thurstons Bakery?
They did those mushroom vol au vents which I had forgotten all about till you mentioned them. They were so amazing! They got bought out by Greggs I think?

Bovril crisps

PilatesPeach · 29/03/2021 14:03

@TheFiend I don't recall Baskin Robbins in Windsor but do recall BR in London - think they were the original ice cream parlour place from US wasn't it 47 flavours or something? My mum used to have the daiquiri flavour! I also remember a Ben & Jerry shop in Festival Place Basingstoke too. I am surprised HD in Windsor closed, am sure they made a bomb there great location.

EsmaCannonball · 29/03/2021 14:11

I used to love Birkett's Bakery cheese savoury rolls. The staff probably thought I was some permanently pregnant woman with terrible cravings. Then they got taken over by Gregg's and the rolls were no more.

jessstan2 · 29/03/2021 14:39

PrincessPea11 · 29/03/2021 15:25

Moorish smoked houmous, the spicy one with harissa. So good but I haven't seen it since last year

RedCabbageHowMuch · 29/03/2021 15:27

John West did a tin of Mediterranean tuna, a lovely mix of tomato, tuna and veg. Really yummy quick dinner with pasta. I still look for it, just in case.

MapGirlExtraordinaire · 29/03/2021 16:54
