Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

Montego chocolate biscuits. A bit like a club or a trio in terms of shape. I loved the coffee ones.

RhubarbCustardy · 29/03/2021 00:21

Another one-honey and cream sandwich biscuits. Wouldn't it be great if some retailers came on here and decided to bring all of favourites back? Can only dream..

MsShopper · 29/03/2021 00:27

For the mushroom pâté fans, some Morrisons do still sell it. (Not always in stock at my local though.) M&S and Waitrose do their own too! 😋

aiskabash · 29/03/2021 00:29

M&S Extremely fruity Pineapple yogurts
Pot Mash from Pot Noodle (I know, I know)
Old El Paso smooth salsa
Old El Paso corn and bean salsa

AcceptYourself · 29/03/2021 00:55

MrsAvocet · 29/03/2021 01:00

When I was a child in the 70s/80s we used to have a pudding called Cremola. It was some kind of ground rice pudding but it was yellow and sweet.I loved it. I've not been able to get it for donkeys years. I did try to recreate it using ground rice and custard powder once. It was ok, but not quite the same and my children behaved as if I was trying to poison them.

HollowTalk · 29/03/2021 01:10

Thornton's rum truffles in the days when their chocolate was nice.

HollowTalk · 29/03/2021 01:11

@BlueJag

Heinz treacle sponge pudding.
You can still buy that, can't you?
Weirdfan · 29/03/2021 01:17

Yes I know it's freeze dried crap but Vesta Beef Risotto, haven't seen one in years now Sad And Rowntree's Nutty bars, I loved them. Hungry now Grin

Weirdfan · 29/03/2021 01:22

Oh and Walls Romantica ice cream dessert, how has Vienetta survived but they stopped making these?!!

Totallyfedup1979 · 29/03/2021 01:25

Cadbury’s Fuse
Sainsbury’s Zabaglione
Sainsbury’s pastrami and dill sauce sub
M&S vanilla iced cake slab with buttercream and jam
Zap lollies
McDonald’s Sweet Chilli Chicken Deli Sandwich
McDonald’s McRib
Worcestershire Sauce flavoured crisps

Totallyfedup1979 · 29/03/2021 01:27

Oh and that sweet synthetic cream they used to put in cream cakes.

rosetylersbiggun · 29/03/2021 01:35

Birds' Hot Crunch Pudding. You'd make a hot custard by pouring boiling water over a sachet of powder, then add another sachet of crunchy topping. Banana was the best flavour.

My local M&S very recently stopped selling this gorgeous pink coleslaw. Not sure if it's no longer on sale, or just my branch.

SavannahLands · 29/03/2021 01:57

Mushroom Vol u Vents from our local bakery chain, sadly discontinued when the firm was bought out by a National company, and the range of goods discontinued by about half.

They were my favourite ‘Must have’ from many a Family Buffet or Wedding Reception, along with their freshly made Apple and Sultana Gateau, and Raspberry and Almond Bakewell Tart!

I have tried to make them myself, but they are never as nice as the originals were.

Clevererthanyou · 29/03/2021 01:57

There was a little bakery at the back of Kwik Save when I was tiny in 1993 and they sold cakes (I use that term loosely), little mounds of synthetic cream fluff covered in a layer of pink icing but possibly on a biscuit base. They were fabulous :(
Top Ten bars in the early 90’s too.
Limited edition banana flavour Taz caramel bars.
Also banana flavour drifters type bar but it was chewy and again, limited edition.
Ben and Jerry’s oh my apple pie - YOU BASTARDS!!!

Clevererthanyou · 29/03/2021 02:00

The worst one is Greggs fresh cream iced apple danish :( they were a very rare but beloved treat (I have a sweet tooth does it show?)

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/03/2021 02:50

M&S Whisp yoghurts, they were somewhere between a yoghurt and a mousse, I'd have one in my packed lunch.

The old recipe hamwiches, they've recently changed them and they're crap now, no cheese layer.

Rowan Glen plain Greek yoghurt.
I can't find in anywhere.

Sunbird24 · 29/03/2021 03:14

Thornton’s dark chocolate ginger bar. Knobbly crunchy outside, smooth dark gingery inside.

Cloe78 · 29/03/2021 03:29

Fry's five centres chocolate. Showing my age!

ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 29/03/2021 03:49

Tesco lemon and thyme roast potatoes

ILikeTheWineNotTheLabel · 29/03/2021 03:52

@Totallyfedup1979 wheat free bakery direct do toffee choux buns and chocolate eclairs filled with that stuff, will post them anywhere in UK just about

namechangeaga1n · 29/03/2021 04:27

Sainsbury's used to do a "just cook" type thing - trout stuffed with rosemary - no more.

M and S tomato bread with chicken pesto sandwich

Tesco - couscous flavouring pots - they were like large tubs of herbs - a pinch of it made couscous lovely. I know you can buy the flavoured packets but they are not the same and are different flavours.

namechangeaga1n · 29/03/2021 04:30

Oh and also had a bean feast craving recently. Tbf, I hadn't had it for about 20 years but was momentarily gutted to find out it had been stopped!
