The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

I don’t have strong feelings on Harry and Meghan. I think it’s totally fine for them to walk away from something they felt was harmful to them, that being said I think they are trying to have the best of both worlds and that might not be possible.

Where this story hits home for me is the bullying allegations. I know certain people (bloggers/ influencers) are peddling the narrative that if you believe them you’re racist, I don’t think that’s fair. The experiences outlined by the ‘sources’ echo experiences I’ve had. Being made to feel belittled, embarrassed and targeted by someone I worked for. Outside of the team this person was highly thought of, seen as passionate and committed. Inside the team this translated as micromanaging and aggressive. For gods sake, she was even the respect at work champion! So I completely understand and see how the persona can be different to the reality. I felt I couldn’t speak up because of the profile this person had, so I can understand how this situation could have occurred. Equally, I only told people once I was out of that situation and had taken the time and space needed to reflect, so I can sort of understand the timing issues as well.

@PurpleCrocuses

They say they quite categorically did not ask for the complaint to be rescinded.

Source?

Up above. Link to an interview with the journalist.

To make it easier for you, it’s also here.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 14:45

What do you mean?

Why was it printed that the complaints had been rescinded?

Okaaay, PurpleCrocuses you clearly have an axe to grind against Kate, that much is very clear!

Since the the only one in that long litany of barbs that the Palace might conceivably have any standing to look into is her treatment of her staff, please do pull up the newspaper reports you are talking off.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 04/03/2021 14:45

Ah, are the Times and whoever Rachael is Employment tribunal judges? No?

Are they RF HR/grievance process head honchos or head of a public ethics committee? No?

So why is their view relevant?

randomer · 04/03/2021 14:45

Ok my first example, I was doing volunteering work. The others weren't pulling their weight and left early. Another volunteer tutted at me because I wasn't folding cardboard boxes quickly enough.
Is this bullying?

brushlaptop · 04/03/2021 14:46

An unnamed source on behalf of Meghan said that and the journalist has gone on record denying it.

She is said to have hissed not whispered and the person who witnessed it, Rachel English, has written an article about it. It’s not second hand information.

I don't think you understand what "second hand information" means.

Especially considering you're responding to someone saying bullying allegations need to come from the person claiming to be bullied, which is not the case here.

Rachel English claims to have seen Meghan "hiss" at someone while surrounded by a large crowd.

If Meghan was surrounded by a crowd, how did Rachel see her "hiss"?

Rachel was too far away to hear what was said, so clearly not close.

Maybe Meghan said "I feel unsafe, get me out of here."

How exactly do you express that to a staffer, while surrounded by press and public, without "hissing"?

Why is Rachel using the word "hissing" instead of "whispering"?

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 14:47

I thought it was in the original article?

Do you need to be a tribunal judge or HR to witness and report bullying? Of course not! That’s why their view is relevant.
TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 14:48

Does anyone actually have the text of the Times interview btw? It would save all this.

Stratfordplace · 04/03/2021 14:48

With any luck the interview will be pulled and not screened on Monday.

debbrianna · 04/03/2021 14:49

Isn't Rachel English the same one Harry told off gir being aggressive towards him. I sm sure there was a video of Harry holding tge car door read to get in and she asks a weired question. Harry then responds with "don't be like that Rachel" my quite is not verbatim. Mumnest was up arms for why Harry told her off.

@PurpleCrocuses

For about the fifth time on this thread, please can you point to these allegations made against Kate, please?

Lots of allegations that Kate was a bully at school.

Kate allegedly bullied one of the York girls.

Loads of tabloid coverage in the early years of her marriage claiming the mass staff exodus from the Cambridge household was due to Kate being a nightmare to work for.

Kate trying to force Remi Litt to wear tights (when it was none of her business what a bridesmaid to someone else's wedding wears) and bursting into years ie using white woman tears as a tool of manipulation when she didn't get her own way.

Even things like Kate sabotaging the infamous fashion show outfit because she wanted to walk the catwalk in her underwear to catch William's eye could be considered bullying, since the fashion student worked hard on that outfit and changing a student's uni presentation to suit your own agenda is cruel.

Only one of those is something that the royal family could investigate as an employer. The school allegations are not something that they could look into, nor is the university thing you mention. Issues with one of the York princesses is more of a personal matter, as is whatever issue there was with a bridesmaid.

But I’d agree, any complaints of bullying made against Kate towards staff should be investigated just like any made towards Meghan.

Serenster · 04/03/2021 14:51

Rebecca English (get her name right at least!) is a witness to an incident that may be relevant when Meghan’s behaviours towards her staff are examined. It not rocket science. She won’t be the person who decides if what she saw is relevant or not. But she is totally entitled to raise it.

cyclingmad · 04/03/2021 14:51

Whats clear is this this news is hiding all the new about the fact we are all going be poorer thanks to the tax threshold freeze. Whilst council tax and other things go up we all lose! Not to mention the mountain of debt we have.

But yes let's plaster the news with gossip and sensational stories so we don't focus on whats really going to affect the everyday person.

The RF and H&M have zero impact on me but the state of the economy and tax threshold freeze does.

Your all being taken for a ride focusing on nonsensical crap meanwhile your getting poorer.

PurpleCrocuses · 04/03/2021 14:52

UsedUpUsername and TeaLibrary I've reported both your racist posts.

You are both racist, racist, racist!

"White woman tears" is a well-known expression and well-established concept within racial discourse, it's a well-known racist tactic, and a tactic that is being employed here.

It's racist. Period.

Posters here are deliberately trying to invoke racist stereotypes by playing the "the mean black lady made the nice white lady cry" card (never considering maybe the black lady was in the right, and the white lady was crying because she fucked up, or because she was angry, or in an attempt to manipulate).

When we point out well-known racist tactics, we get called racist?

Nah miss me with that Amy Cooper shit.

PurpleCrocuses · 04/03/2021 14:55

But she is totally entitled to raise it.

Then she should tell the RF.

Not write an article in the press that actively weaponises known racist tactics, as part of a transparent smear campaign orchestrated by the RF because they know they used Harry and Meghan as whipping boys and fed nasty stories about them to the press to distract from Andrew and William, and are terrified of what dirt Meghan has on them, and are trying their hardest to destroy her reputation ahead of time by releasing this "bullying" story.

They did the exact same thing to Diana.

I agree with you that the news shouldn’t focus on this so much, but posting on a mn thread doesn’t mean we are all unaware of anything else going on in the world.
