The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

OP posts:

Kind of reminds me of the Andrew Pierce character who said he does not see MM as a black woman, just an attractive woman.

Oh yes, this charmer (watch with sound on):

Awful, just awful

RubyViolet · 04/03/2021 13:37

What a great day the wedding was, it’s just so sad. Look at the crowds , look at the sunshine 🌞

randomer · 04/03/2021 13:39

I think the word ' bullying ' is massively overused.Does it not mean a prolonged and sustained deliberate attack and an abuse of power?

The RF are showing themselves up by leaking this bullying saga now. They are basically admitting that they did nothing about the complaint that was raised years ago, so as an employer they are the ones in the wrong and should be taken to tribunal.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 04/03/2021 13:41

@Anne1958

Because...........you know...........those black women are not attractive or pretty

You’re being ridiculous in your interpretation of what was said.

I take it you didn't actually listen to the clip then Hmm
Lookingforwardto2021 · 04/03/2021 13:42

I was t assuming the staff were workshy. It’s that Mm has been said to be workshy by people on mumsnet. But the allegations of emails at 5am and coming into office everyday do not square with that

derxa · 04/03/2021 13:42

You cannot find any woman insubordinate, incompetent or dishonest?
If you find these things then your job as a boss is to deal with it in a respectful manner. Because your employee has a right to be dealt with fairly not bullied.

OliverBabish · 04/03/2021 13:43

@randomer

I have been around black people discussing blackness.
That’s ok then, free pass for you
HmmmmmmInteresting · 04/03/2021 13:43

I am not racist. Even if I was, she does not look black to me one iota, she has totally changed her appearance.

You are very naive if you think racism is just about how dark a person is. Many black people are the same shade as tanned white people and still endure racism.

Yes
Serenster · 04/03/2021 13:44

Randomer ACAS defines bullying as follows (quite a lot less dramatic than your suggestion):

"Bullying is behaviour from a person or group that's unwanted and makes someone feel uncomfortable, including feeling:

  • frightened
  • less respected or put down
  • made fun of
  • upset

Examples of bullying in the workplace could include:
-spreading a false rumour about someone
-putting someone down in meetings
-not allowing someone to go on training courses, but allowing everyone else to
-giving someone a heavier workload than everyone else
-excluding someone from team social events

Yes, and the RF failed in their duty of care to both the staff and MM by not investigating when a complaint was made

Another interpretation could be that they were trying to protect Meghan's reputaion.

It’s clearly a price they’re willing to pay to get meghan exiled and untouchable as far as future interviews/books to, etc.

I think if these rumours were completely false, she would’ve refuted them by now. But her statement was more ‘I’ve been bullied too’ etc etc

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 13:47

Ok, so what has been actually stated as fact?

Meghan wrote emails at 5am.

Meghan went into the office everyday.

Jason Knauf wrote an email reporting bullying claims that may or may not have been endorsed by the staff members they referred to and may or may not have been retracted.

If actual bullying claims were made, the palace did nothing to investigate them at the time.

Anything else?

Meredithgrey1 · 04/03/2021 13:47

@Lookingforwardto2021

“People quit their jobs, people complained to HR, they weren't listened to, they kept on quitting, and STILL anyone who is doubtful about Megan's character is just a big fat racist and her ex-aides are all lying.”

So you are upset with the RF for not providing a safe work environment, I presume? Or is this Mm’s fault?

Like I said, the Rf should be subject to normal employment law and and ET process. Of course ithen Anne, Andrew, Queen, Charles and others will be subject to the same scrutiny too

Both, surely? Most people, whatever environment they worked in, would not bully people. That does not excuse the RF for not having a safe working environment. But equally, if there wasn’t a safe working environment, that doesn’t excuse any bullying.
SabrinaMorningstar · 04/03/2021 13:50

@samcro did I tell people not to post? That wasn't my intention. I was expressing bemusement at 'commoners' feeling the need to jump to defend very privileged individuals who don't know they exist.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 04/03/2021 13:52

Nobody should be bullied in their workplace. And in this instance we don’t know if anyone bullied anyone as there was no process, investigation or finding.

RF seems to be run like an amateur drama club, with divas, emotions and cliques

TonTonMacoute · 04/03/2021 13:52

The RF are showing themselves up by leaking this bullying saga now

This leak did not come from the RF, it has come from former staff members who are annoyed that they did not act on their complaints of bullying.

ElspethFlashman · 04/03/2021 13:53

There are plenty of other rumours.

That M demanded that her staff (in London) find and furnish a "safe house" (in LA) for her father (who lived in Mexico) prior to the wedding. That's waaaaay outside the scope of their jobs and they couldn't do it.

Another claim is that the staff felt very uncomfortable with how they were asked to deal with the media. They felt it crossed appropriate boundaries.

That one staff member was spotted in floods of tears in a car the day Megan abruptly left that Fiji market after only a few minutes.

Staff described it as like working for a pair of teenagers who never stopped demanding and could be very cold when something couldn't happen.

Megans team has said she had "an American work ethic" but it seems the staff just weren't paid enough for either the hours or the attitude.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 13:54

Do we know that for sure?

Where did the Saudi earring story come from?

Meredithgrey1 · 04/03/2021 13:55

is having a strong/American style work ethic now an issue?

At the risk of a slight derail, what is an American work ethic (as opposed to anywhere else)? This is a genuine question, I’m not being faux naive about it. I never had any particular impression that Americans had an especially strong work ethic, nor that they didn’t.

ElspethFlashman · 04/03/2021 13:55

It's been reported that the earrings provenance was common knowledge amongst their personal team. In other words the people who quit etc.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 13:55

Americans do tend to work long hours.

VinylDetective · 04/03/2021 13:56

If you are for women’s emowerment does that mean you have to get along with all women in the workplace? You cannot find any woman insubordinate, incompetent or dishonest?

Amazing coincidence that all the people making the allegations are female. As well as the one the journalist witnessed in tears after being publicly abused on the African tour and the person who had tea thrown at them. That’s six people, not a man amongst them.
