The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

I thought they had gone to the USA to live the quiet life out of the limelight!! Away from the press!!

At the time I thought I don’t think so!!

Just so sick of the pair of them I have decided I won’t watch the interview, because let’s face it we all know what it will say, poor us we have been treated so badly!! I don’t forget let’s play the woman of colour card!!

most of the population of the U.K. have had a hard time In the last year, losing jobs, homes, businesses, losing family members, and to have to listen to this entitled pair whinge about how tough it was living in Frogmore cottage , and being a royal , just makes me feel sick to the stomach.

And to compare the Duchess of Sussex to Diana, Princess of Wales!! Really!! Diana was the people’s Princess, Meghan is not!!

Andylion · 04/03/2021 14:20

They were given Frogmore cottage and estate to live in and had £3m renovation paid for by the British taxpayers

“You see... this is when I get fed up with these threads. Stuff like this is quoted and it is untrue because they paid back the £3M “

You see, the fact that they decided to pay it back after they had announced they were leaving, does not negate the fact that the cost was initially paid by the taxpayer.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 14:20

@VinylDetective

VinylDetective please explain why you've decided to rephrase "hissed at" as "publicly abused"?

Is hissing not abuse? You’re OK with people hissing at you?

If someone hissed at me I’d consider it public abuse.

Again, it’s incredible that people will continue to make excuses for bullies purely because they look up to them.

Does having a blow out mean that one has completely changed their appearance?

There's plenty of celebs I don't like. I don't go around commenting about them, I just block or ignore. I don't get why, with these two, people claim to "be sick of them" yet follow them around everywhere

PurpleCrocuses · 04/03/2021 14:22

Of course hissing isn't abuse. On what planet is someone hissing possibly abuse?

I was sexually abused and physically abused throughout childhood and abused as an adult. I know what abuse is.

It honestly sickens me that racist bullies are willing to brand literally anything and everything "abuse" just to feed their own nasty bigoted agenda.

Pretending that someone hissing at you is "abuse" does real harm to genuine abuse victims.

It was also a very carefully worded statement so we have no idea what was actually paid at all.

Prince Harry's spokesman said he had paid the bill in full by making a contribution to the grant.

debbrianna · 04/03/2021 14:23

That's alright. I am trying to piece all of this together. The different angles of the story is interesting. According to most people, Fiji was the turning point and I a lot happened. The media also changed abruptly. I have read before that it was due to the popularity of the trip.

Spot on. Imagine her thinking she is DIANA!! Delusional much?

It’s because people like you believe those in power/authority that the little under people get treated like this and it becomes normalised.

I'm not the one blindly worshipping and eating everything the RF tell me with a spoon.

The RF are the ones in power/authority, not Meghan.

The RF are the ones who forced Meghan to accept a staffer who was best friends with a tabloid editor, who was leaking stories and lies about her.

The RF are the ones who interfere in UK law, cosy up to arms dealers and dictators, protect rapists and pedophiles, and manipulate the press.

But sure a black woman "hissed" once so she's the bad guy.
MN does not allow me to attach files, sorry. But if you scroll down to the end of this article it states :

*Correction: Sept. 2, 2020
An earlier version of this article referred incorrectly to a source of income for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan. They do not draw income from the Duchy of Cornwall, as they did before they left Britain *

It has been reported a lot of times, even the RRs were tweeting about it so am a bit surprised you are not aware.

also

people.com/royals/meghan-markle-prince-harry-not-receiving-financial-support-prince-charles/
Neither of those are statements from Harry and Meghan directly and they would appear to be inaccurate anyway given Charles will still be funding their correspondence expenses until next month.

Kind of begs the question what else might have slipped their memory but you have to hand it to Harry for being his father's son when it comes to other people picking up his bills.

Lampzade · 04/03/2021 14:26

@starfro

Both Prince Andrew and Harry/Meghan have deeply embarrassed the RF in the last couple of years.

At least PA is keeping quiet and isn't going onto trashy daytime TV shows to slag off his family.

From Acas, about bullying:
 • be a regular pattern of behaviour or a one-off incident
 • happen face to face, on social media, in emails or phone calls
 • be spoken or written words, imagery, graffiti, gestures, jokes, pranks or unwanted physical behaviour
 • happen in the workplace or at work social events
 • not always be obvious or noticed by others

It was in the workplace, and a gesture/unwanted physical behaviour. Even as a one off it comes under the legal definition of bullying in the workplace.

You sound like you are projecting what you view abuse to be and the law does not agree with you. Hissing at an employee is bullying and public abuse.

randomer · 04/03/2021 14:26

A cyclist once hissed at me, totally unprovoked, it was very unpleasant and rather creepy. Was I bullied? No.

Kinsters · 04/03/2021 14:27

SweatyPie I don't like the royal family. I'm not going to ignore them though like a would some B list celebrity. They're not celebrities, they're our heads of state and represent our country and are funded by us.

It honestly sickens me that people who haven’t drunk the Meghan Kooaid are branded racist bullies by her defenders to suit their biased narrative. I’m very sorry you were abused, that doesn’t mean your heroine isn’t also abusive.

PurpleCrocuses · 04/03/2021 14:28

You see, the fact that they decided to pay it back after they had announced they were leaving, does not negate the fact that the cost was initially paid by the taxpayer.

Harry and Meghan paid for all the interior design and non-essential work out of their own pocket at the time. (Confirmed by Buckingham Palace financial papers which can be downloaded on the official Buckingham Palace website, and this has been widely reported in the press.)

The ONLY thing the "taxpayer" ever paid for were essential structural repairs, and it's shocking the Queen allowed a listed building to fall into such a poor state.

So Harry and Meghan wound up paying for essential structural repairs for someone else's house.

Serenster · 04/03/2021 14:29

I also genuinely wonder where the posters who are so furious at the press for finding, and then publishing stories about what might be going on in the Palace, think we learned about Andrew ms shenanigans in the first place? That would be the press. Who dug into the Epstein allegations, dug into the story of Virginia Guiffre, found and published the photo of her with Andrew and started to hassle him? It was the Mail on Sunday who broke that story. And it was the sustained interest from the British press that led him to decide he should tell his side of the story, and truly sunk his goose. You’re so keen to see them as being on the right side there that Andrew is now routinely referred to as a paedophile despite no charges ever being brought against him, and the law enforcement agencies ever coming to interview him. And yet when credible allegations, backed up with contemporaneous evidence and more or less confirmed by the statements from Meghan and the Palace is published, it’s all a despicable conspiracy of lies. Your bias is showing so clearly.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 14:29

I’m the one who would get rid of all the royal family in a second.

She is a bad guy for hissing at someone. Like so many on this thread, you are resorting to comparisons of worse behaviour to try to justify what Meghan has done. It doesn’t work like that. It’s like me saying I can’t be fired because I only committed a lower level of gross misconduct than my colleague.

Yes, but if they had been your boss, it might well have been.

At the ends of the day, nobody should be being reduced to tears at work, and if that does happen - especially if it’s more than one person and it’s not a one-off unfortunate set of circumstances (I’ve certainly been a tearful pregnant woman at work, hormones can be a bitch). It’s not ok and not excusable, and it shouldn’t be brushed aside.

Were you in the workplace, was it your manager hissing and did you feel bullied (because it’s the feelings of the bullied person that are important in law)? If not, then it’s not relevant.
PurpleCrocuses · 04/03/2021 14:31

Personally I think it's wonderful news that the bar for being considered a bully and abuser is so low, that simply hissing at someone once makes you an abuser.

Because that means all the royals are bullies and abusers.

What the RF has done is a thousand times worse than "hissing."

debbrianna · 04/03/2021 14:31

It was £3million. I have seen the £3million quoted in dollars.

The fact, the £2 was for the version of flats back into one house. The plumbing and electricals which was going to be done whether they lived there or not.

For te decoration, harry/meghan paid £800k of their own money. This was all before it kicked off. I read all of this here when people posted evidence of said expenditure because it was requested by the public.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 04/03/2021 14:32

That's very sad and I'm very sorry it happened.

It doesn't mean though that all type abuse is what happened the you. Other people might consider other things to be abuse.
