The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

I don't know whether the allegations in the article are true or not. That's not the point. The point is that Harry and Meghan believe this came directly from Buckingham Palace so there's clearly a lot of animosity behind the scenes.

I thought that. Regardless of the story, the fact they said it was BP was interesting. Although I’m assuming they meant the people behind the scenes (what Diana called “the men in grey suits”) rather than the queen herself deciding to slag off her GDIL in the press.

Couldn't agree more.

Also - Piers Morgan is OBSESSED with Prince Harry's wife. Obsessed. It's starting to look pathological. He is BITTER.

The allegations about the Duchess of Sussex bullying staff are not new. So it does seem more than coincidental that they have been revived.

I think this is The Times stirring it

There have been stories about Sussex household staff relationships from quite early on. It's not 'the latest', nor are the counter-accusations about faceless but immensely powerful Palace officials.

The Times is acting opportunistically on this. Raking over it yet again is a strange choice for a broadsheet

ElizabethG81 · 03/03/2021 08:05

The "allegations" are backed up with emails from their communications secretary discussing it. The Times doesn't just make shit up. This just confirms everything that was said at the time, she's a bully.

WinnieTheW0rm · 03/03/2021 08:06

hey do - because apparently we aren't allowed to discuss something on MN which is featuring in every newspaper. I find the drama fascinating, personally. The British public has always been interested in and had opinions on the lives of its royal family

If you look in The Royal Family topic, there are plenty that do not get deleted. They tend to be the ones which do not get derailed (posts which repeat the really bottom-feeding parts of other media, speculate on mental health, drag up old rumours about parents etc)

There have been allegations before, yes, but this story has very specific details about who emailed who about what and when they did it. Never seen such specifics before.

The claims may very well be bullshit, I think it’s more interesting that H&M’s response wasn’t a general denial and criticism of the media, but they said that The Times was being 'used by Buckingham Palace to peddle a wholly false narrative based on misleading and harmful misinformation’.

@fronz

At least Harry wasn't good friends with a peado though!
Indeed, and one is known by the horribilis company one keeps, is one not?

I doubt the Palace are trying to distract from Andrew. The Sussexes are creating their own drama and they both appear to be extremely complex and difficult people. She would have been better off staying as a B lister and he marrying some tiggy legge bourke type who would keep his feet on the ground and keep things light for him. Like his mother , extreme fame doesn’t suit him or her.

Or, it confirms that someone senior at the Times had a big favour called in.

It's such a rubbish story, all "she said" and "he said" and "they said that she said that he said". Total trash and completely out of place as a lead story at The Timea.

A call was made, I'd put money on it.

WinnieTheW0rm · 03/03/2021 08:18

There's nothing really happening icw Prince Andrew at the moment though. So there isn't anything that needs to be distracted from.

The Palace (according to a couple of broadsheet stories sourced to palace aides/senior aides) has been about a change of mood, and entire focus on Prince Philip.

Which is why bringing up old stuff about Sussexes just doesn't make sense - unless at least the first part (problems in staff relations) was re-surfaced by someone trying to make sure the Sussexes are getting mainstream media coverage, because the rebuttals etc are wind em up and watch em go

satishoused · 03/03/2021 08:25

There's no smoke without fire though is there. There was a story ages ago saying that Kate had told her not to speak rudely to staff at Kensington palace. It's says in the article even Harry acknowledged it in that book re her "direct" American style. She sounds awful.

@stampsurprise

They are just the Jeremy Kyle Show with titles and money Smile
But this isn’t new — Wallis Simpson and the Nazi sympathiser abdicator, Princess Margaret and a married man, Harry and the Nazi costume, Tampongate, Squidgeygate, Diana’s various paramours, Sarah Ferguson toe-licking, Sarah Ferguson accepting a bribe, Andrew and Epstein, Meghan Markle and her father, etc etc.
stampsurprise · 03/03/2021 08:34

I agree VegetarianDeathCult.

It’s worse than the JK Show really as they’ve had opportunities that the people on the JK Show could only dream of.

Exactly. The Times aren’t going to print things they can’t back up given how litigious Meghan is and then fact she just won a significant court case.

It’s a royal aide that has leaked the story to the press. BP declined to comment but the Sussexes spokesman said it was BP trying to smear Meghan’s character. The claims weren’t denied. Make of that what you will.

Let’s face it, if these claims are not true Meghan will take them to court right.

TheKeatingFive · 03/03/2021 08:36

You absolutely don’t know that. Who knows what shit threatens to surface at any given time that they have to quieten. And it’s worth noting that Andrew isn’t the only royal they’re invested in keeping out of the papers.

TheKeatingFive · 03/03/2021 08:37

The "allegations" are backed up with emails from their communications secretary discussing it.

Can someone share a quote please?

As the story is behind a paywall.

Hufflepuffmamma · 03/03/2021 08:37

I saw an article about this in the times. I recently cancelled my times subscription and can’t read articles ( is a rip off) .

But LOW AND BEHOLD. I could read the whole article of pure gossip and speculation on Meghan being an apparent bully ...

Funny that ......

If that isn’t a media agenda I don’t know what is......

I wish people would awake up to the reality of how these 2 are treated by the press ... by everyone ...

Piers Morgan is a renta-gob, he gets paid a small fortune to slag them off. Whether he really cares or not, I have no idea.
Hufflepuffmamma · 03/03/2021 08:38

There are no direct quotes it’s all written in a very clever way but it is entirely an article of something and nothing ... designed to smear ...

I think they are both narcissist. This doesn't mean I don't think Andrew is hideous as well.
Quite
oneglassandpuzzled · 03/03/2021 08:39

Thé bullying claims are old news. They were circulating before Meghan was pregnant, or when she could only just have been. I remember reading about staff turnover being high.
