How long into your relationship did you get engaged?

Just that really! Interested to see when people decided to put a ring on it. I know no two relationships are the same but I am intrigued having a baby and coming up to our second year anniversary makes the question play in my mind more so as to when things like this follow?

Just shy of 2 years. I was only 20 but it was right. Moved in together at 22 (we stayed at home with parents to save for a deposit) Married at 24 and baby at 28

I've never understood how people can see a baby as a lesser commitment than marriage. Divorce exists but babies tend to tie you together.

Anyway. Engaged after 18 months, married at 2 years, 2 kids by 4 years!

About 9 months it started to be discussed , was around a year when we actually did

3.5 years but knew each other for over 5. Been married 10 years and going strong!!

Never really got properly engaged, dh asked me to marry about 8 months after we've met, got married 2 months later. Been married for nearly 20 years now.

3 years.

Six months, then married a year later, so together 1.5 years before marriage and 26.5 years since.

Five years, but we were very young when we got together. Set the date for eighteen months after that. Married more than ten years now. Had first DC when married four years.

Outside of teenagers do people see it as a lesser committment tho? Or do they think kids are a bigger commitment rendering marriage redundant

4 years in - i was 28, he was 32. We'd been living together a month. Got married nearly 18 months later as he wanted summer wedding (i didn't mind either way) and that year would have been a rush job - he proposed right at the start of the year.

14th anniversary this summer, 2 kids.

3 months. Married 41 years.

Met October 2018, engaged august 2020, now pregnant with first baby, wedding set for September 2022

3 years. That was 3 years ago now and we are getting married in the summer.

11 months; engaged for 5 months; coming up to 20 years married.

2 months. I was already pregnant 3 kids and ten years later still going strong

Engaged after 8 months and married 1 year to the day we met. 8 years later and two little girls.

I was 17 years old and ill in hospital when my boyfriend visited one evening as usual and said, as soon as you get out of here let's go looking at engagement rings...so on a dank Wednesday afternoon in October we did just that.
We got married 3 months later. We were married for 45 years.

5 years before we got engaged but we did get together at 18.

Engaged after 4 years, married just after a year later. Been married 5 years now with one 2 year old. We did move in together very quickly but we were in our early 20's so no rush for anything more back then but we both knew we wanted marriage and kids eventually.

Engaged after 8 years, married after 11 years.

5 years then married 10 months later. Been together 16 years, married 10.

Met in December 1978, DH asked me to marry him in October 1980 and we got married in July 1981. We didn't "get engaged" as such. We just knew we were going to get married.

Engaged after two years, just felt like the right point to make more of a commitment. I'm not sure we'll ever get married so it's nice to be officially more than bf/gf.

Engaged after 4 and a bit years. Married for 6.5 years.
