Had your jab? Care to compare side effects?

I had the AZ jab a couple of days ago - feel like I've got the worst hangover. Ever. Very tired. Sore arm.

Someone I know had tge Pfizer jab and had no side effects at all.

@ConquestEmpireHungerPlague

I had Pfizer with no side effects. My sister (who has the same blood group as me obviously) had it some months ago (HCP) and was horrendously unwell - rash all over her body and appalling headache that lasted two weeks. imo it's nothing to do with your blood group and everything to do with whether the vaccine is your first exposure to the virus. I've been practically shielding, she's been very gung ho about being out and about and also, as an HCP, is likely to have had occupational exposure. I imagine the second jab will be worse for those of us who had no problems after the first.
There have been studies that have shown O and particularly O neg blood types fare better if they catch the virus, so blood type could matter. By the way you say your sister and you 'obviously' have the same blood. Siblings don't share the same blood type automatically. I have a different blood type to two of my brothers and we are definitely all full siblings..
ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 25/02/2021 16:10

Well, we do both have the same blood group, and yet responded very differently to the same vaccine. There was a lot of non-peer reviewed research that appeared to show a relationship between blood group and disease trajectory in the early months of the pandemic, but it didn't stand up to subsequent scrutiny afaik. I would be interested in a citation if anything concrete has been demonstrated since.

KilljoysDutch · 25/02/2021 16:18

I had AZ 24 hours ago, Little bit of a sore arm when lifting it and I've had to have a nap as I was tired but otherwise nothing. I am 0- blood type too.

I had the Pfizer.
I had it at about 6.30pm. I woke in the night at about 2am to turn over and couldn’t move my arm, it hurt so much. It hurt for all of the following day and partially into the next day.

It was around my armpit and shoulder that it hurt. I can only liken it to imagine if you had spent a whole day throwing a tennis ball, over arm, with some force, kind of extreme pulled muscle type of feeling.

Gad to put up with that though for the relief of getting vaccinated

SilverDragonfly1 · 25/02/2021 19:16

Various flu-y aches and shoulder joint/neck/head pain in the jab side. That's taken about 4 days to settle. But one I've not seen mentioned- a really bad case of thrush! Came crashing in the day after and is resisting fluconazole and canestan so far.

SilverDragonfly1 · 25/02/2021 19:17

Sorry, this was AZ.

KittyMcKitty · 25/02/2021 19:28

I had AZ woke up in the night banging headache, really achey, shivery and nausea- felt roughy for around 3 days. Painful arm & swelling (this is normal for me when vaccinated). Absolutely fine now and v grateful to have had it. My blood type is AB-

I wasn't doubting that you and your sister have the same blood type! I was just pointing out that it's not inevitable that siblings have the same blood type. This article from late last year suggests some kind of correlation between blood type and outcome www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-19623-x and this one was published this month onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/vox.13076 As the researchers mention more work needs to be done on this, but initial studies do show interesting results on this topic

I was expecting to wake up in the night with some of the symptoms described by previous posters but apart from a very slightly sore arm, I feel fine. I'm O- too.
WhipperSnapperSteve · 26/02/2021 09:49

Had AZ jab yesterday, feeling off with flu-like symptoms and fatigue. Arms tender.

Ynwa12345 · 28/02/2021 15:02

Had Pfizer 1 month ago, sore arm for a few days, feeling very tired and bit achy. I am also scared of my 2nd dose #@Tiredmum100 and also have work the next day so hoping I will be ok! shows our immune system is working, also read that the side effects for either jab from age 18 to 55 are worse than over 55s. My parents had AZ and had no side effects (except my mum wanted to eat all the time!)

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 28/02/2021 15:54

Reading this with interest as I had AZ at 9:45 this morning so expecting any side effects to kick in around 9’ish tonight. I’ve no idea what blood group I am.

Interestingly, the nurse giving the jab said I would get a sore arm and flu-type symptoms (she didn’t say I “might” get them). She seemed quite certain of it.

I’m a real needle wimp and actually had to ask if she’d done the injection, so that was good. I was in and out in 5 minutes flat.

Dowser · 01/03/2021 11:26

@KeanuBmine

I had the AZ on Sunday and 5 mins after my arm went numb for about 10 mins. Other than that tiredness i felt fine. Arm was achy but on the Monday when i went to work as the day went on I felt awful. I started with the shivers and could not get warm...went home and slept. I was quite breathless and felt horrific I spent the next day in bed. No energy and a very heavy arm. I bruise with jabs and this was the same but 4 days in and my arm is in agony. Its swollen and i cant even touch it. I am diabetic and i had covid back in Sept. The worse i have ever felt...the vaccine felt like this also. The thought of the 2nd vaccine is pretty terrifying!
Are you feeling any better yet?
Gossipgirl2 · 02/03/2021 09:53

Hi all.
If you had the Pfizer can I ask if you had sore skin a few days later?

I had my first jab a week ago all fine just a bit tired and a sore arm. Friday I had a headache aches and felt really tired.

On Saturday I started with sore skin on the right side of my neck and shoulder. It feels like sunburn and someone is scratching it.

Even my clothes and a back of a chair
touching it is sore. I’ve got a bit of rash at the bottom of my neck but nothing where the skin is sore.

The soreness is on the opposite side to where I had my jab but wondered if it was related?

Oldraver · 02/03/2021 09:56

I had Pfizer and was a bit sleepy later but only other thing was a very sore arm that did go up into my shoulder for a while

I felt fine at first until I bumped my bike on a curb... that's when I felt it

SendMeHome · 02/03/2021 09:58

Had my AZ first dose on Saturday, didn’t hurt at all but felt awful Sunday. Hot and cold all day, couldn’t move easily, proper flu-like symptoms. Headache all day yesterday and felt tired and hot. Today I feel okay again, although the vaccine site is really big, hot and red. DH had his at the same time and his looks normal now, although he had the same side effects as me.

NoseOfJericho · 02/03/2021 13:13

Had Pfizer on Saturday. Slightly stiff arm on and off but it took me a while to notice it as it is so slight.
After a few hours an itchy red rash on my wrist which went, then came back yesterday, covering a larger area, 1 in 100, if it is caused by the vaccine, it may not be.
A couple of other itchy rash type things, nothing much.
Incredibly tired since Sunday though.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 02/03/2021 13:19

DH and I had the AZ on Friday morning.
He had a slightly achy arm, headache and a high temp Fir evening and Sat.
I (still) have a sharp stabbing nerve-type pain running down the inside of my arm, through my elbow and into my fingers if I stretch my arm. No temp and only a slight headache which I thought was lack of sleep tbh.

It's a bit worrying that the expert interviewed on BBC this morning said the side-effects following the 2nd jab are worse. I suspect some people might decline.

Just saw your post, and have just posted about similar (above). Arm seems to itch when I am warm.

Mine is the same arm as the injection. I also have an itchy patch one side of my forehead where I have a scar and a spot on my chest where I had surgery to remove some skin a couple of years ago has started itching today.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 02/03/2021 13:22

Oh, and my armpit is really sore if I touch it (roll-on deodorant hurts) and DH is really tired, apparently.
So tired he's just fallen asleep.🙄

35andThriving · 02/03/2021 14:49

DH had the Pfizer and felt flu-like symptoms, hot & cold, achy arm and a headache for a day.

Gossipgirl2 · 02/03/2021 16:29

Thank you for sharing it does sound similar. I’m starting to think mine might be shingles rather than side effects. I’ve just noticed a few spots that look a bit like bites down my side. I’ve never had shingles before but the spots/ rash looks similar to when my mum had it years ago.

onionsndsage · 05/03/2021 17:46

I am now 4 days post Oxford vaccine. My arm has got worse over the last couple of days. The circle is the injection site but the rectangle is the reaction. Anyone else have this?

I had a bad headache, awful aches, sweats, shivers etc 12hrs after the injection and a few fevery moments over the last few days but am ok now, but my arm is getting worse.

Had your jab? Care to compare side effects?
SendMeHome · 05/03/2021 17:49

@onionsndsage Yeah, it’s a common side effect, there’s nothing they can do for it but it will pass. I’m day 6 and it’s stopped getting worse now, if that’s any reassurance.

SendMeHome · 05/03/2021 18:06

@onionsndsage I say “common”, but I couldn’t find anyone else who’d had it! They did start me on antibiotics but I took one and then they told me it was now a known reaction and not to take anymore, as it’ll pass by itself.
