Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

how are the press even allowed to be so intrusive

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 20/02/2021 18:53

perhaps he just needed new supplies

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2021 18:53

The OP of that thread asked for it to be deleted (lots of posters complained / found it tasteless!)

But it could have stayed, people had their opinions, but it's a Chat site, it was the OP that chose to request deletion. Some of the speculative posts were a but Hmm though.

I find his situation fascinating. He's a man with values of his time so yes you can criticise a lot. I would have often firmly landed my foot in my mouth too if I had been him. But he totally bought into 'doing his duty' and trying to support his wife and the monarchy in every way, to the best of his (maybe imperfect) ability. There's a commitment to duty (however imperfectly interpreted) that we can all admire.

and he's funny. I know someone who went to palace to get honours in a semi-private ceremony and came back with a riot of stories, mostly about PP (oh, and they also briefly lost Prince George).

Hot looking as a young man, too.

If I could interview anyone, it would be him. I do think he's probably on end of life care, given that Prince Charles has been in to see him and absolutely nobody has seen where Her Majesty is. Harry is quarantining for travel. Eugenie just gave her boy her grandfather's name as a middle name. No matter what someone that age goes to stay in hospital for, there's a good chance they won't be going home.

MrsMackesy · 20/02/2021 18:55

@kurtrussellsbeard

His eyes aren't brimming with tears in a crying sense. His eyes have looked like that for at least the last 6 months. It's a medical thing I'd think.
Quite.

HMQ, Phillip, Charles and Camilla have all had the vaccine. The visit would have been risk assessed.

Didn't she have a lockdown party or something? I hope she is suspended actually. I bet she's furious with all the royal goings on though and Covid means she can't be out and about microphone in hand asking the public stupid questions and being patronising.
FuckingFabulous · 20/02/2021 18:57

@MadinMarch

Just a thought, but if he dies, it'll be really difficult for the RF to choose exactly which 30 people will be able to attend his funeral. This will be such a great dilemma for the RF, but their choices could be the making or breaking of them.
But it will be perfect for Prince Philip, who wants absolutely none of the trappings of a state funeral, just a quiet service and burial with no fuss. I imagine he'd want his wife, his kids and his grandkids there.

Oh I didn't realise that Charles had come all the way from Highgrove to visit, that does seem quite a long journey if he's just in as a precaution.

PicsInRed · 20/02/2021 18:58

Prince Charles travelled all the way in from Gloucestershire for an exceptional circs hospital visit. It does appear significant.

The press reporting an "emotional" Charles, and Harry isolating in advance of travel - this is the press hinting something they strongly suspect (or know) to be the case.

Sky news have asked the palace directly whether the situation is more serious than disclosed. The palace has declined to answer.

Livelovebehappy · 20/02/2021 18:58

If it’s your family member, whether 99 or not, you’re still going to be heartbroken if they die. We might be philosophical about it because we don’t know him, but the Royal Family are obviously going to be devastated if the worse happens.

I am no fan of he royal family, but Philip ultimately is a human being, and deserves no less dignity or compassion than anyone.
His family are humans too.
I wish none of them ill will.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/02/2021 19:00

Is it possible that HMQ is there with him? Ushered in round the back...?

I hate to think of her worrying at home if it is the end. I’m sure they’d like to be together.

Also where does Harry say he’s isolating?

@Sparklingbrook yes it was something like that. Am sure I read she is off screen for 6 months.

Can't stand the woman. And yes she is probably annoyed she isn't there asking ridiculous and patronising questions

Yeah that was my point. It wasn't deleted by MNHQ because of it's content, it was at the OP's request (which quite frankly is fucks me off immensely! But that is a different discussion)

Well said.

Some of the coverage and comments are tastelessly prurient.

He travelled all the way from Gloucestershire to Birmingham the other day for a hospital visit so I'm sure he'd travel to London from Gloucestershire for his own father whether it was very serious or not.

How many 70 odd years olds have completely clear, white eyes Confused

DM clutching at straws there but I don’t argue it’s significant he went.
